See Stylish Women's Vision Box Fall/Winter 2018 Review
When you first head over to the See Stylish website, you'll need to make some decisions to get to the order page.
First- you'll need to tell them if you want your subscription to include contact lenses or not.
Then, if you want the women's or men's accessories.
You will then decide if you want to receive a box every 6 months, or just once a year.
After that, you'll choose your desired brand of lenses and it will give you a total cost of your subscription.
When I first opened the box, I saw several packages wrapped in black tissue paper (except my contact lenses) with stickers of their logo sealing each.
Next, there was a small business card with their website listed.
Plus- a booklet that allows you to meet the founders, and explains each item.
Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism Contact Lenses, 6-month supply - Total Retail Value $207.96
First, let me clarify that See Stylish kindly sent me a 3 month supply here, but when you order, you'll choose to receive a 6 month or 12 month supply to be included. I popped over to a popular online contact lens site to get a value for a 6 month supply of these (listed above). As you may be able to tell, I have an astigmatism and a pretty severe prescription, so these are the brand I've worn for years. When you order your subscription, there's a drop-down menu for you to choose your preferred brand, and you'll need a current prescription from your eye doctor to get the ball rolling. Based on the brand you choose, you'll get a price for your subscription.
State Optical Armitage Sunglasses in Whiskey - Retail Value $396.00
These sunglasses are the hero of the box and hail from Chicago brand, State.
Starting off, they do a lovely job with branding and packaging. The outer box is sturdy and embossed with their name and logo.
Inside, you'll find polka dot paper against a bright yellow lining and a business card explaining that your new sunnies are handcrafted in the USA, right in Chicago.
Next is the case for the sunglasses. This hard case has a sleek minimal black design with their logo at the bottom right.
Open it to find a microfiber cleaning cloth and soft lining.
The inside text urges to see how your new frame was made on their website.
And here are the sunglasses! This style is called "Armitage" and mine came in a dark brown swirly color called "whiskey".
You can tell the frames are a high-quality plastic and offer a rounded rectangular shape.
There are nice little details, like the triangular hinge hardware on the inside, with the State logo visible.
On the end of each arm is the reoccurring triangle shape again, formed by silver dots that make up their logo that appears on the case and box as well.
Here they are on! Gosh, these are so nice and I'm such a sunglasses fanatic, but I don't know about this shape for my face! I normally go for a wayfarer or round sunny, but what do you all think?
Face Halo, Pack of 3 - Retail Value $22.00
Ok, ok. I like your matte black package, Face Halo. Do go on...
I've never seen a makeup remover quite like this. I usually go with a cloth that has been pre-soaked in some unknown chemical or go straight for the face wash.
These, however, are ultra soft double-sided cloth pads that are a great size at 3.5" in diameter and trimmed with black satin.
One side has a black tag declaring its name while the other side is without. I thought to myself "ok, what's in this soft pad that's going to take my makeup off?" The answer? Nothing! The whole point is to remove makeup from your pores without anything but the superfine fibers that make these up.
As the directions say, all you have to do is dampen the pad with water and smooth it across your face so that the fibers go into your pores and grab all the makeup! Crazy, but it works! I thought there was no way, but sure enough, it got all of my makeup off with just warm water. These pads are also machine washable (up to 200 times).
e.l.f. Play Beautifully Beauty Pouch - Estimated Retail Value $5.00
I wasn't able to find this exact pouch for sale online, but I estimated the price based on some other pouches they make. This simple black rubbery pouch has "play beautifully" across it in gold lettering on one side, and blank on the other. It measures 8" across and 4.25" tall so it won't house all of your makeup, but surely some essentials that you may need to have in your purse on the go. It has a zip closure to keep everything from spilling out easily cleans up should there be any messes.
e.l.f. Brush Cleansing Wipes, 10 count - Retail Value $3.00
A second e.l.f. product brings a box of 10 individually wrapped cleansing wipes for your makeup brushes. I am pretty lazy when it comes to cleaning my brushes, so the idea of just opening a wipe to get the job done sounds a lot more alluring than breaking out my brush cleanser, running it under water, and allowing it to dry before reshaping. These will be great for travel as well so you don't have to pack another liquid.
Morihata Binchotan Eye Mask - Retail Value $26.00
Oooh- I am an avid eye mask-wearer when I sleep because I prefer complete darkness.
This one is special because of the microfine charcoal powder that is infused into the organic cotton on the back of the mask which helps relieve fatigue and ease the tension that you may have picked up during the day. There is an additional soft piece of black fabric that blocks out any light that may try to get through the light grey satin front around your nose.
Some sleep masks can be too tight which isn't very relaxing, so this one has an adjustable strap at the back with velcro that allows you to wear it at a comfortable size. I've been using this for about and week and although I'm not sure I can say if I've been sleeping better overall, it has been really comfortable and easy to sleep in. It's soft and breathable which are two very important factors.
Verdict: See Stylish has a great idea going with their luxury eyewear box. From the box to the wrapping to the products, it really did feel like a unique and elevated experience, plus way more fun than just reordering my contact lenses. Although the cost of this box is a hefty $299.95 ($199.95 base price + my contact lens brand), I received a total value of a whopping $659.96. I love that they included a pair of USA-made boutique brand sunglasses, my contacts ended up being cheaper than if I were to order them alone, and I was exposed to new luxe brands like Morihata and Face Halo! The e.l.f. products were the only ones that seemed a little out of place since they're not a luxury brand, but I enjoyed them never-the-less and they are certainly useful.
