The Stationery Selection February 2018 Review
You'll find an info sheet (on beautiful handmade looking paper) listing out everything in this month's box.
Camino A5 Slim Notebook in Red
This handsome red slim notebook has a sort of rubbery/faux leather sturdy cover that has a sewn binding and is filled with grid paper on one side that's blank on the other. Something about these tall thin notebooks doesn't grab me, but my roommate has been using another one I gave him to track his gym exercises, so he was excited for me to gift him another one. 🙂
Hightide Letter Set - Retail Value $8.33 USD
This is a cool little letter set but it looks like mine is a bit worse for wear. Looking at the package, it looks almost like it got damp and then dried so the envelopes are indented by the paper clip and the paper is a little wiggly. Overall, the vintage feel is really cute and I love that it comes with labels for the envelopes since they are such a dark brown.
Kokuyo Karu Cut Tape Cutter - Retail Value $5.90
Ok, wow. This is hands down the best item in the box and I can't believe I've never seen one before! How genius to have a cutter that you can clip onto any roll of tape for easy tearing! Washi tape is pretty easy to tear, but it's never straight. This white and grey plastic tool is easy to clip onto any size roll and has a cutter that gives a perfectly clean edge. SO COOL!
Midori Yarukoto Things To Do Notepad
What an adorable to do list! This notepad has two different designs: one is kitchen/cooking related, and the other is cleaning. This pleases me since I am an avid list-maker, and it's especially good to have a grocery list version and a chores version. On the left of each page, there is a space to write the date, as well as a house-shaped checkbox for you to tick off once it's complete! Very satisfying!
Midori Ojisan Schedule Stickers - Retail Value $3.39
I am loving this tall thin "ojisan" (middle-aged, older male) who wears a fur-collared overcoat and top hat. In these itty bitty schedule stickers, he is doing a myriad of activities accompanied by two small yellow dogs at times. There is something about his outfit and mustache that is just too funny to me.
mt Ruler Washi Tape - Retail Value $3.20
I can always count on a fresh roll of washi tape with my Stationery Selection delivery, and in this case, it's a roll of red and blue ruler tape. The blue marks each measurement with the numbers in bold red. As cute as it is, it's also quite functional!
Traveler's Company Brass Index Clips - Retail Value $18.00
Ooh- I am gaga for vintage brass office accessories so these immediately caught my attention. These index clips attach to file folders and have a space to slide in a tab that you can write a category on. I don't have much paperwork these days, but W2s for my taxes are always something I keep hard copies of, so I labeled the example above as such. The classy packaging these clips came in also has little tabs on the inside that you can cut out to use for labeling. What a unique item to include!
Zebra Sarasa Clip Gel Pen in Vintage Brown - Retail Value $1.75
If you are an avid reader of my stationery box reviews, you know I am crazy about the Zebra Sarasa Clip Gel Pen. Sometime last year, they released a new collection of "vintage" colors that I have slowly been collecting. Unlike the classic Sarasa Clip pen body which is clear, these are the color of the ink and have a cream clip with gold lettering. I normally don't go for brown, but I didn't have this color yet so I am excited about it! The ink glides so smoothly out of this pen and the spring-equipped clip allows you to clip it to your shirt or a tote pocket for safe keeping.
Verdict: The Stationery Selection sent me eight unique and ultra functional Japanese stationery goodies for $47.95 (though shipping costs vary). I was surprised to be able to find most of them for sale online, but paying for shipping for all of them would surely add up. Since I am a huge stationery addict, this is one of my favorite subscriptions because I get a box full of awesome goodies that I may never discover on my own otherwise. The tape cutter is definitely my favorite this month since it's so functional for someone like me with a TON of washi tape.
