Yummy Bazaar Full Experience February 2018 Review
There is always a pamphlet included that talks about the featured country, which is Italy this month.
The back has a recipe for the included Paradiso dei Golosi Dried Puttanesca Sauce.
And of course, they go through each item that's in the box.
Marella Organic Monnezzaglia "The Leftovers" Pasta, 17.6 oz - Retail Value $9.95
The first item is so beautiful! I've never seen pasta so colorful and in different shapes in one package! The term "the leftovers" absolutely makes sense with this mix of red, brown, striped, spiral, bow tie, wheel, and tube pasta varieties! I love that it comes in a box with a little straw bow as well. Extra points for being organic! I can't wait to make a huge pot of this for my friends one evening.
Paradiso dei Golosi Dried Puttanesca Sauce, 1.4 oz. - Retail Value $6.95
While I'm at it- I can also make my pals the sauce to go with it! I've never made my own pasta sauce before (gasp), so receiving this pack of seasonings to make puttanesca gives me something to look forward to. They included the recipe on the info sheet, along with a list of all the ingredients you'll need to complete it. It's really pretty simple, actually. I already have olive oil and parmesan cheese, I just need a can of tomatoes and some kalamata olives (yum) to get it going.
Asturi Rosemary and Olive Oil Bruschettini, 4.2 oz. - Retail Value $3.25
While I'm in the kitchen, I can set out some appetizers for my buddies to snack on, including these crusty little rosemary and olive oil toasts. I love topping these with different tapenades and cheese, but they have a really great flavor on their own! I am a sucker for anything with rosemary, so these are a great item for me.
Marmellata Arance con Scorze Orange Marmalade
Well well well- what do we have here? A delicious orange marmalade to put atop my bruschettini. I'm not the most adventurous with mixing flavors, but I went for this one and have to say that it's pretty darn tasty. Rosemary and marmalade wouldn't be my first choice, but Yummy Bazaar has forced my hand. I am really enchanted by the container for this marmalade for some reason and love its vintage look. Looking at the label, I see that it's the original jar invented in 1928 by Chiaverini Bros, so it must be a famous one! The marmalade itself is full of chunks of fruit and has a really bold orange flavor! I love it. This item is different than the listed "fruit preserve" but similar enough that I can call it even. I also couldn't find this anywhere online to purchase, so I feel extra special!
Coluccio Bomba Calabrese Hot Spread Sauce, 6.3 oz. - Retail Value $6.95
Yes! Another dip I can spread on to my wee toasts. I enjoy spicy spreads, so this is right up my alley. This "hot condiment" includes all sorts of things I love to chow down on like eggplant, hot peppers, artichokes, and porcino mushrooms! It certainly packs a little punch and now I'm going to have to add it to some pasta sauce in the future to heat things up!
Mulino Bianco Rigoli Biscuits, 14 oz. - Retail Value $3.75
These simple little cookies are made with milk and 100% Italian honey! They are sort of a distant relative to the graham cracker and are a popular snacking item with tea and espresso. Oh wow- the info sheet suggests trying it with the marmalade... perfect! I could eat these for a long long time without getting sick of them. They're so light but have the perfect amount of delicate honey flavor.
Venchi Creamino Fondente Piedmont Heritage Chocolate Bar, 3.8 oz. - Retail Value $8.80
Wow wow wow. I was expecting this to just be another dark chocolate bar, but BUT BUT... it's so much more. You know how insanely decadent and soft truffles are? This bar of chocolate is just like that, and I think the decadence comes with the hazelnut and almond paste that's included. I never knew a dark chocolate could be so creamy! I'm blown away. This item varies from the info sheet, which happens from time to time, but I am certainly not mad.
Verdict: The Yummy Bazaar Full Experience Monthly Gourmet Box was so awesome this month! I got practically a full meal, with appetizers and dessert included! It's pretty hard to choose a favorite in this box since the hot spread, chocolate, and super fun pasta were all great ways to experience Italy. This box had a great mix of snacks and pantry items I can use for a while.
