Each box comes with a booklet detailing the items included and why the Allure Beauty Editors selected them.

Now, on to the items!

NUDESTIX Gel Color Lip + Cheek Balm in color J Mama – FULL SIZE! Value $24

(FYI – this is the same size as the full-size version, so I’m using the full-size value, but it doesn’t come with the tin packaging + sharpener that you’d get if you purchased this.)

I LOVE Nudestix lip crayons! They are so creamy and moisturizing, and they easily glide on your lips, too. This shade is a very wearable dusty rose.

Here it is swatched:

It provides a good amount of pigment and shine - this is perfect for me on my low to no makeup days.

Korres Pomegranate Balancing Cream-Gel Moisturizer – 20 ml Value $17

(Good to know for swaps - this item has a foil seal.)

This is half the size of the full-size version, and I actually prefer this size since it comes in a tube and not a jar.

The formula is a gel/creme designed for oily or combination skin. I found it to be very lightweight, and it absorbed quickly, too. It's hydrating, not greasy at all, ingredient-conscious, and the scent is fantastic! A+ for me!

Rahua Conditioner - 22ml  Value $2.88

(Good to know for swaps - this item has a foil seal.)

Rahua is an ingredient-conscious natural beauty brand that is luxe (AKA pricey), so I'm always happy to see it in a subscription box since I usually don't splurge on hair care otherwise.

And I appreciate that they included both a shampoo and conditioner:

Rahua Shampoo - 22ml Value $2.72

(Good to know for swaps - this item has a foil seal.)

The formulas are made with organic ingredients, and the natural scents are light and clean. This set was good for 2 uses for me, and I appreciate that it is color-safe, too.

Stellar Brilliant Primer - 7 ml Value $7.42

This brand is new to me, and I'm a fan! First, this tube is completely full! It should last at least for 2 weeks. The formula gave my skin an incredibly smooth base to apply makeup, and the subtle pink shimmer added the faintest glow.

The Original MakeUp Eraser Mini - Sample?

I think this is the first time I've ever seen a cloth sample in a subscription box. It's a little...weird.

This measures approximately 3.5 X 3.5 inches.

If you haven't sampled Makeup Eraser before, it's pretty amazing. It’s a microfiber towel that is designed to help remove makeup with just warm water. I've used this before thanks to other subscription boxes, and it completely removed all my makeup with ease. And you wash the material in the laundry which is great.

But getting a raw edge cloth isn't really a reusable product, it's more of a one-time use to see how it works. Feels a little wasteful and disappointing.

Verdict: This box has a value of about $54.02 not counting the value of the Makeup Eraser (because I'm not sure how to value that). I think that's a great value, and this box included some of my favorite brands and one new favorite - I'm very impressed with the product quality. Makeup Eraser issues aside, I love everything else in this box, so I'm happy!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. According to the Allure Beauty Box, the April box is sold out. Your first box will be the May Box. (Check out the spoilers!)

Value Breakdown: At $15 for this box, here’s what you are paying approximately per item:

  • NUDESTIX: $6.66
  • Korres: $4.72
  • Conditioner: $.80
  • Shampoo: $.76
  • Stellar Primer: $2.06

I went to marshalls today and they had full size makeup erasers for 7.99. I thought I would share in case someone wanted to try a a full size.

My hair loved the shampoo/conditioner…they work really well together. And I didn’t really mind the masculine fragrance. I smell spicy citrus w/ a hint of licorice and it didn’t seem overwhelming to me at all. My samples were full, and I got a good two uses out of them. Not bad. I’m even considering purchasing the conditioner sometime in the future.

I am hoping for more makeup products. What happened to eye shadows and blush? They never seem to be included. The shampoo and conditioner smelled very bad. I tried it and was disappointed. The nudestix color was perfect for me though. The eraser didn’t work and left pink fuzzies. It felt gross, didn’t clean my face. The moisturizer and primer feel nice but one of them made me break out I still am hopeful the boxes will improve as they hear our feedback. I want to give the beauty editor a chance. In terms of saving costs, I like the current boxes and didn’t think they need a redesign, unless the redesign saves money. I also don’t need a printed booklet and don’t need a bag to put the makeup in. I appreciate the Marc Jacobs full-size eyeliner for my loyalty. Thank you!

Last month I received the wrong Makeup Forever foundation. I emailed Allure and they said they would replace it with the right color in 10 business days. It has been 24 days and i still havent gotten it. I know a few of you guys did the same thing. Can anyone tell me if they have received their replacement?

Reply ButtonReply

Apricot

I did, I received my replacement about 3 days ago. Maybe give them a call to check if it was sent out yet.

Reply ButtonReply

Ashley

Thank you . It’s good to know that someone got the replacement.

SBR

Yes! I got mine a few days around my April box. I called 2 times regarding it. I would call them again. I call them every 2-3 weeke until I get the product.

Thank you so much

Kathy

This April box was the worst waste of money! The only useful item to me was the Nudestix. I wish they would stop including shampoo. If the boxes don’t improve I’m canceling! I’m tired of primers and moisturizer for oily skin doesn’t work for me.

There IS absolutely NOTHING special about the makeup remover cloth. NOTHING. It’s just a microfiber towel. That’s it. You can buy them for a couple of bucks at Walmart or buy a huge bag in the auto department for $10 and have a fresh clean one every day… sure, they may be blue and not double sided but you’ll get the same results and save a lot of money!

The thing that truly ticks me off about this box is the false advertisement of it and the false price value it was advertised at. $74 value MA!!!
That lip crayon may be the full sized crayon but it is not a full size product. It does come with a sharpener and a mirrored tin. Not a $24 value.
Then they have enough nerve to say that there’s a $20 cloth in the box?
I took others advice and called. Talk about a nasty woman!!! Oh WOW!!! I had to hang up and call back because the customer service person would not stop repeating over and over continueously,”That is to a full size crayon. That is too a full size product. You are wrong.” Repeat…… Next call, point blank, I need a supervisor please and why. She would never transfer me until I mentioned false advertisement, the BBB and disputing the charges as fraudulent transaction. Falsely advertised.
I’m did not ask for anything other than STOP THE VARIATIONS PLEASE. Also, your customer service is $#!+!.
I would cancel but my girls are looking forward to the Kat Von D box…. I could hear others in the background. Obviously most subscribers are not happy this month. Some are being shipped new boxes. Some are getting discounts on their subs and some are getting a refund on the April box.

Soooo. Makeup eraser must have seen all the bad reviews because I just got an email that said since I signed up for a free mini sample yesterday, they are giving away free full size cloths and you only need to pay shipping for the first 5000 people. Here’s the thing- shipping is TEN DOLLARS !!!! How can it be that much for shipping when it’s so lightweight ??? So I didn’t get one. But if anyone else is interested GO NOW. LOL.

BettyAnn

Is there some kind of discount code needed? Thanks 😊

The code is 5000FREE

The only product I was excited about in this box was the Makeup Eraser. I put up with the disappointment of last month’s box to hold out for this, only to get this scrap of material. What the heck, Allure? How do you go from sending our full size SR serums to this???

Pink5

I’m liking the Korres.

That stuff is nice.

Laurie

I haven’t received my box yet, but I’ll probably pop the makeup eraser in my handbag to clean my glasses. I have a large clue microfiber hand towel that I currently use for them and it works great! No sprays or towelettes required!

Reply ButtonReply

xunseenx

that’s a really great idea, thank you for mentioning it! i’m going to put it n my bag now! 🙂

I think it’s brilliant of MUE to use their scraps as a test sample. Not so brilliant to have it in the Allure box when it’s part of the box and not an extra bonus sample.

Having said that, I actually like other versions of the MUE that I have received from Birchbox and Marshalls better, part of that is the fall out from the raw fabric scrap, but more so it’s the texture which was too soft for my use.

I was excited for the Korres as I have large pores and oily skin, this made it 100% worse so I gave that away. Something in it really irritated my skin into more oil. Plus it felt dry at the same time. I’ll stick with some of the Korean and Japanese gel moisturizers that work really well for my skin.

The Nudestick was terrible color for me for lips (cadaver) but it is a fabulous color on my cheeks, unexpected win there.

I am seriously considering canceling my Allure subscription which makes me very sad. This is one of the first beauty subscriptions I signed up for and I have been so impressed but the last few boxes have just been a let down in my personal opinion. I received this exact same variation which of course was the one that I was hoping I did not get. I have very fine hair and have to use very specific shampoo and conditioner so this is a total waste for me as I could have use the other products in the other variations. I recently subscribed to the look fantastic box which is only four or five dollars more then Allure and I have been so impressed with the look fantastic for a very minor price difference. I’m probably going to hold out through the summer because the spoilers for May and June do look great but Allure really needs to figure this out or I personally believe they are going to lose a ton of customers especially based on the comments that I’m seeing here!

I was okay with the box. Loved loved loved the lip pencil. It may be the best nude color for my complexion, and formula, I’ve ever found. I don’t use conditioner all that often because I use a leave in conditioner on my curly hair so I’ll toss that, but the smell doesn’t bother me. I was disappointed the magic eraser wasn’t full size. I had one before and loved it, but it got left in Texas when I was visiting family. So I gave this one to my daughter to use as a blanket for her little figures. She loves it. Always love trying new primers.

Reply ButtonReply

Marissa

Totally agree on the make up eraser sample. Especially since the same exact sample is now available free on their website 🙄 only time I’ve been disappointed with the allure beauty box.

Reply ButtonReply

Maggie

Well, reading through the comments, it seems like I am in the minority with this box. I actually like it It is the one I wanted when the spoilers came out so I’m happy it’s the one I got. I’m excited to try the Korres & Stellar product. I love the Nudestix lippie. And, I don’t mind the smell of the shampoo & conditioner, plus I’m going on vacation soon so I’ll be taking them along. The only thing that I think is weird in the box is the makeup eraser. I’ve received the actual mini before, but this one is just too tiny to use.

Reply ButtonReply

Michelle

My labeled conditioner bottle was also shampoo and I was not happy. Never had this happen before. I realizes glitches in production happen but still. BUT that primer!! Oh my it’s good stuff. love the pink glow!! I just looked healthier after I put it on.

christinaT

Oh my goodness, I’ve never seen that sort of mistake before either. LOL! Now I need to check mine.

Reply ButtonReply

Pam

This is my first Allure box. I was reading all these comments and wondering if this is the first month that allure hasn’t sent the same box to everyone? I see there were 3 different variations this month. Is that how it usually goes?

Reply ButtonReply

Amber

I subbed through Amazon, and I got a fold-up Wet Brush instead of the Makeup Eraser scrap. At first, I was kinda bummed, until I realized they did not include a mini like advertised. But, I already have one, and my daughter loves the brush, so it worked out for me. I got the version with the squalene retinol lotion and the DE sunscreen otherwise.

Reply ButtonReply

Pink5

Kind of makes me want to try it through Amazon as well and see if I pick up any of the variants.

I subbed in the regular way a few years ago, and my boxes pretty much match the ad in Allure Magazine.

Reply ButtonReply

Callie

I was confused and disappointed at first by my fold up wet brush too! But after seeing this weird “sample” makeup eraser I’m glad I got it!

Reply ButtonReply

Denise

The lipstick doesn’t show up on me at all. It looks so much brighter on the people I saw wearing it. I thought maybe I got a bad one because it’s like a lip balm on me-a lot of moisture but no color at all

Reply ButtonReply

Pink5

Same here. I’m pale but my lips are not.

Kind of washed me out a little.

Reply ButtonReply

Jodi

THIS is exactly me too! It feels very nice on my lips–but I cannot see it at all..unless it slips onto my skin then of course it shows LOL! Really weird as I am very light complexion and would have thought it would show nicely…but it is more of a balm to me too 🙁

I was really interested to try the biossance and like most others got box 1. I went on their website and they have a few sample bundles to choose from with that include 2 deluxe samples for $5 shipped. It was worth it to me!

I’m not even upset by getting box 1 either, i really wanted to try the korres as well!

Reply ButtonReply

Tanya M.

Do you mind if I ask Allure website or allure beauty box website. Off to check both. And thank you!

Reply ButtonReply

Kim

The biossance website 🙂

Sarah

Did anyone actually get the second or third variation. Seems like everyone I’ve seen has gotten the first one.

Reply ButtonReply

Amanda

I have 2 subscriptions in the hopes I would get different boxes. I got 2 of the 1st variation! I’m really annoyed with Allure.

Reply ButtonReply

Lori

I got the second variation. This is only my 2nd month with Allure, so that goes towards the theory that they send boxes 2 and 3 to newer subscribers.

Reply ButtonReply

Brook

I got both the 2nd and the 3rd. The second variation came on my account I set up in March and the third came in a new account I set up in April.

Reply ButtonReply

Alaina

I recently emailed to unsubscribe-the only way to unsubscribe right now that I’m aware of (I have almost too many subs and this one was the one that didn’t make the cut. I don’t feel like I’m getting a better value for the $15 price tag. I did get my first 3 for $10 though, so I felt like it was on par with the other $10 subs. This was my 4th month and first I spent $15 on!) and they responded with a 4 months at $10 deal (which I’ve heard is what they offer to those who want to cancel!) My email just said “I’d like to unsubscribe, or pause my subscription if possible. I may resubscribe at a later date.

So for all of you who think this box sub isn’t worth the value, are considering unsubscribing, but won’t mind paying $10 a month for it, give it a shot!

And yes, I took the 4 for $10 offer, because it is like getting more than a whole box for free if you stick around for 4 months.

Reply ButtonReply

Kearstin

I called and wasn’t offered the deal. I cancelled 😕 Two months in a row that I got the worst variation. Not using any of it. 😐

This box is on its way to me and minus the makeup eraser I’m gonna be fine with it. It will be my 3rd Nudestix. I happen to really like them and already have the sharpener for it. Someone asked how to sharpen it and I’m sure you could just use a large eye sharpener.
