You can also add a bar of soap or candle to your box for $6.49, or a piece of jewelry for $8.

Box of Happies March 2018 Review

If you like jewelry that’s generally delicate and handmade items from Etsy and similar artisans, Box of Happies delivers those things every month. The items are also usually packaged nicely for gifting if something isn’t to your taste:

M. Harris Soy Candle

M. Harris Soy Candle – Retail Value $6

This smells really good. Fruity and tropical and kind of like something I would want to eat. It is made from soy wax. M. Harris is a small company that sells candles, perfume oils, and a few accessories like scarves and handbags, which is sort of an odd combination but the overall aesthetic on their website actually kind of works.

Box of Happies Earrings

Box of Happies Earrings – Listed Value $10

This is a jewelry-heavy subscription and you will get a lot of (pierced) earrings. Usually, the items are pretty dainty (which is more to my taste). There is no information about what the posts are made of, but I have found that if I coat them with clear nail polish before use, I can wear them without issue, even though I am sensitive to most metals. These go with this month’s necklace without being too “matchy.”

Box of Happies Gift Tags

Box of Happies Gift Tags – Listed Value $4

I never buy gift-wrapping items but rely on subscription boxes like this to supply them to me every now and then. These are a lot classier than just cutting a piece of wrapping paper and folding it in half to make a gift tag, and you can customize them for different occasions by coloring in the triangle border (these have a texture that would take markers or colored pencils well).

Yippee and Co. Travel Lotion Stick

Yippee and Co. Travel Lotion Stick – Estimated Value $5

This particular scent isn’t available in the Yippee and Co. Etsy shop, but their other lotion sticks are going for $5. This has a nice, clean type of scent that is actually pretty refreshing. I find that I prefer to use solid lotion sticks, bars, etc. as cuticle oil because they really stay in place (I’m doing some serious cuticle and nail treatment these days because the winter did a lot of damage to my hands and nails). This seems to work pretty well for that purpose. But if you travel a lot and don’t want to mess with liquids, this would also be a lot easier than collecting foil packets of body lotion.

Box of Happies Necklace

Box of Happies Necklace – Listed Value $15

This is delicate and simple and totally my style. It will go with quite a few things in my wardrobe (but if it isn’t for you, it is nicely packaged for gifting, as are pretty much all Box of Happies items). I appreciate that this one came on a card (see the photo of all the items together) instead of loose in the bag, as that prevented tangles in the chain.

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $40 for the March 2018 Box of Happies. That’s a fair amount above the month-to-month cost for the box. (Please note that almost every Etsy shop and/or independent maker charges shipping, too, so you are getting to sample items from a few Etsy makers without that separate shipping fee.) The jewelry was well-suited to my taste and the other items are similarly fun or useful. I am a particular fan of the candle.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you subscribe today? No, your first box would be April's. Sometimes past boxes or past box items go on sale in their shop, though.

I love your idea of personalizing the gift tags! I’ve gotten those earrings before and not a fan of them, but the necklace is simple and gorgeous.
