Bubbles & Books March 2018 Review

Bubbles & Books March 2018 Ride Hard Bubbles & Books March 2018 Laura Kaye Novel Bubbles & Books March 2018 Paperback Book

Ride Hard: A Raven Riders Novel by Laura Kaye  - Retail Value $7.99 (found here for $6.48)

This month's book is the first in a series by this author. It's a romance novel through and through, and those looking for that classic sweep-me-away nature of one will certainly get that in a sense. But, it's also really refreshingly relevant and poignantly aware of the times in that it addresses abuse head-on, as it walks us through this storyline following a survivor (Haven) and the totally stand-up leader of the Raven Riders (Dare) helping her out. I'm new to the genre of MC (motorcycle) novels, and I have to say I can totally see the appeal. Part of the romance here isn't just between characters, but also between character and bike—or, maybe even more so, the experience of being on the bike. It's easy to see how folks get hooked on this genre of novel!

From Amazon:

Brotherhood. Club. Family.

They live and ride by their own rules.

These are the Raven Riders . . .

Raven Riders Motorcycle Club President Dare Kenyon rides hard and values loyalty above all else. He’ll do anything to protect the brotherhood of bikers—the only family he’s got—as well as those who can’t defend themselves. So when mistrustful Haven Randall lands on the club’s doorstep scared that she’s being hunted, Dare takes her in, swears to keep her safe, and pushes to learn the secrets overshadowing her pretty smile.

Haven fled from years of abuse at the hands of her criminal father and is suspicious of any man’s promises, including those of the darkly sexy and overwhelmingly intense Ravens’ leader. But as the powerful attraction between them flares to life, Dare pushes her boundaries and tempts her to want things she never thought she could.

The past never dies without a fight, but Dare Kenyon’s never backed down before . . .

Bubbles & Books March 2018 Pin

Dirty Fairytales Button - Estimated Value $1.00

The bookish product included in this month's box is this black pin. I have a denim vest that features a rotation of my favorite pins, but I'm not sure this one would make the cut. The quote on it made me smile, but it's a pretty specific message to send to the world! It's also pretty large—maybe the size of a lime—so I'll probably just set it on my bookshelf, where it can give my friends a laugh should they ever look for a book to borrow.

Bubbles & Books March 2018 Fizzy Bath Bomb Bubbles & Books March 2018 Black Raspberry Vanilla Bath Bomb

Fizzy Love Bath Bomb, 4.5 oz. - Estimated Value $3.75

I usually cut my bath bombs in half to make them last a little longer, but this one came out of its package feeling a little crumbly, so I decided that when it comes time to use it, I'm just going to toss the whole thing in. It has a black raspberry vanilla scent to it, and indeed it is very sweet and berry-ish smelling. I tend to lean toward slightly more natural scents for my soaking endeavors, so I thought I'd get my book started with the other bath product that was included in this month's box (see below) and I'll either gift this bath bomb or save it for later!

Bubbles & Books March 2018 Eucalyptus Bath Salts Bubbles & Books March 2018 Bath Salts

Herbesque Eucalyptus Bath Salts, 2.8 oz. - Buy a 14 oz. bag for $7.95

Like I said above, I'm super into naturally scented lotions and scrubs and things, so I was excited to find these eucalyptus bath salts in my box. The packaging gives directions for how much to use if you'd like to draw a full bath or just a foot bath. Am I totally behind the times for having it never occur to me to take a foot bath? This sounds like such a nice way of relaxing without the time commitment of a full bath (and without running the risk of getting your book wet!). This package has a ziplock closure so that you can use as much as you want and save the rest safely for later. Awesome touch!

Bubbles & Books March 2018 Votive Candles Bubbles & Books March 2018 Tealights Bubbles & Books March 2018 Candles

Pair of Lavender and Balsam Fir Tea Lights by Beaches of Tunisia

What's a bath without some candles to help you unwind? These votives are a great scent combo. Lavender is the world's favorite soothing scent, isn't it? Fir is a less traditional one, but one I've always loved year-round. Together, they made my bathroom smell incredible!

Bubbles & Books March 2018The Soap Guy Bubbles & Books March 2018 Handmade Soap

Cherry Almond Soap by The Soap Guy — Buy 12 bars for $36.00

Finally, this month's box included this bar of handmade soap, which includes olive oil as the main ingredient for hydrating your skin. I recognized the scent before I even looked at the label—I've chosen almond-scented handmade soaps for myself at the farmer's market before, and the added cherry aroma is a nice touch.

Verdict: As a relatively slow reader, I'm pleased to say I think this month's Bubbles & Books hooked me up with enough bath soaks to get me through the entire novel! I wasn't too big on the pin they included, but the candles and the soap were a nice addition that I will totally continue to incorporate into my relaxing reading-and-soaking routine. Such a great self-love box!

To Wrap Up:

Can I still get this box if I sign up today? No, you will start receiving the April box. From Bubbles & Books:

We ship between the 10th and the 15th of every month. Orders received the 15th-20th will ship the next business day.

Value Breakdown: This box comes in at $27 a month (including the $3 shipping fee). I received a total of 6 products which averages out to $4.50 per item. That breakdown seems a little steep for the button and the candles, but then again it's an awesome value for all the other products included, so it totally balances out.
