World of Wizardry March 2018 Review
In each box from Geek Gear, you will find a handy booklet listing all of the products inside. In addition to the products, you will also find a clue for an item in next month’s box and a “Subscriber Spotlight” featuring a community member.
Recipe Cards
Another batch of recipe cards and they’re sweet recipes this month! I absolutely love butter cookies, so I’m sure I’ll bake those before too long. I don’t make a lot of fudge as a rule, but the butterscotch flavor looks amazing, and I loved that the brightly-colored fudge is hiding a chili powder surprise inside - sounds like a Fred and George prank, if you ask me!
Weasley Multi-Colour Pen - Listed Value $5.64
This totally reminds me of pens that were popular when I was a kid! I loved the different colors on these - the whimsical styling definitely puts me in the mind of Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes, with the bright ink colors and the spinning “Authentic” sign on the very top!
Magical Cookie Cutters - Listed Value $4.22
My collection of wizarding cookie cutters is expanding! I was thrilled to see these owl cutters - as I’ve said before, my family always does cut-out sugar cookies for Christmas in some of the craziest shapes. These will fit right in along with my ice cream cone, lobster, and penguin cookie cutters. I may just have to whip up a batch of the recipe card cookies, just so I can see this family of owls more than once a year.
House Pin Set - Listed Value $16.94
Oooh, the pins this month! This is such a great offering for one of the House-specific items; every box always has awesome pins, but there is something about repping Ravenclaw with these adorable accessories that makes me so happy. I love the sweater, scarf, and tie shapes they chose for these; they’re so iconic of the uniforms and made great shapes for the pins.
Wax Stamp Set - Listed Value $11.29
I actually already have a wax and stamp set; I like to use it on thank-you cards and my yearly holiday greetings, but I may have to switch over to this stamp for letters in the foreseeable future! I love the Ravenclaw crest on this and the color of the wax is just perfect.
House Tie Socks - Listed Value $7.05
There will never be a time in which I don’t love socks, but I especially love these socks! I’ve gone as a Ravenclaw student to cosplay parties before, and these would be an amazing addition to the ensembles I’ve already put together, or would be a nice nerdy kick to a regular outfit if I’m feeling so inclined.
Lupin T-Shirt - Listed Value $14.12
Remus is one of my very favorite characters in the entire series, and the design of this shirt really brings the mystery! We obviously see him in his human form, but I love that his werewolf side is juxtaposed with the design of this shirt. I really like the darker shirts in these boxes, and the printing on this is really high-quality.
Phoenix Print - Listed Value $7.05
Majestic enough to hang in Dumbledore’s office! I really like the style on this Fawkes poster; the design elements pair so nicely with the lettering and the image of the Phoenix itself to create a beautiful graphic design. This piece is a GeekGear exclusive and is certainly frame-worthy.
Ron’s Broken Wand - Listed Value $14.12
At last - a wand! I haven’t received one from this box yet, though I know they’re distributed somewhat regularly. This one, Ron’s broken one from his encounter with the Whomping Willow in the second book, is a neat choice because it’s not necessarily just about the wizard who owns it, but rather, hints at the story of what happened to it. It’s a cool piece of history from the wizarding world.
Verdict: I really do love this box! As always, I enjoy the wide variety of items in these boxes, and I particularly enjoyed the House-specific items this month. I already use wax and seals, and I think I’m going to be spending a lot of time in those socks. This month’s box is also really encouraging me to bake some cookies, and I received my first-ever wand. In short, these boxes are always magic!
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will receive the April box. Monthly boxes ship between 21st and 24th each month.
