GlossyBox is a monthly beauty subscription box. They have the best packaging in the business, their products are usually deluxe size or full size, and the value is usually good too.

This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

FYI: GlossyBox sends out multiple variations of the box during some months. So, there may be some variation between what I review and what you receive.

The Subscription Box: GLOSSYBOX

The Cost: $21 a month (save more with 6-month or annual subscription)

DEAL: Check our GlossyBox Coupon List to get the most up-to-date coupon!

The Products: Deluxe and full-size beauty products.

Ships to: US and Canada

Each box comes with a fold-out card detailing the items included:

And this month, GlossyBox has teamed up with Cyberobics to give subscribers a 6-week fitness program. And the good news - you can redeem the coupon code without having to enter any credit card info!

I'm excited to try this - I've been looking into various online workout programs, and 6 weeks should be enough to see if this is a good fit for me.

Now, on to the items!

Karl Lagerfeld + Model Co Baked Blush in Rose Beige - FULL SIZE? Listed Value $44

I can't find this blush online. Based on this article, I would think this blush hasn't been released yet, but I'm also seeing listings for this blush on eBay so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The formula itself is a shimmery pale pink. I was worried it would be too sparkly (I mostly stick with matte blushes) but this goes on subtly. No worries about overdoing it!

(Swatched in lower photo.)

Laqa & Co Cloud Lips Airy Matte Lipstick in DayDream – FULL SIZE! Value $17

(This is a repeat item for me. I also received it in the November 2017 Glossybox. But the good news is I really like this product, and I'm happy to have another!)

I am loving this color! It’s a perfect everyday shade for me. The pigment is rich, the finish is matte, and it’s light on my lips, too.

Here it is swatched beneath the blush:

Rituals Shower Foam in Happy Buddha – FULL SIZE! Value $15

(Another repeat! I received this in October 2017. Fortunately, it's an awesome product that I'll gladly take again!)

(All GlossyBox subscribers will receive a Rituals Foaming Shower Gel this month, but the size and scent may vary.)

I really like the Rituals Foaming Shower Gels, and this is my favorite scent - the cedar and orange combination is lovely. If you aren't familiar with this product, it’s a gel that turns into a lathery foam once it makes contact with water.

oOlution Eye Love – FULL SIZE! Value $37

OK - we're on the third repeat item in a 5 item box. It's starting to get annoying. (I received this in the January 2017 GlossyBox as well.)

This eye cream is designed to help with dark circles and puffiness. I have yet to find an eye cream to reduce the appearance of my dark circles, but this one was gentle on my skin and very hydrating.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Towelettes - (10 count) Value $4

(All subscribers will receive this item.)

Great brand, and I always can use more facial wipes. These are oil-free, alcohol-free, fragrance-free, and paraben-free! Plus they were gentle on my skin, and removed all my makeup!

Verdict: This box has a value of about $117. I think the value is great, but I'm disappointed in this box - it feels like a mystery box to clear out old inventory, not a current monthly subscription box. GlossyBox was acquired by Look Fantastic recently, so I'm hoping that this is a one-time situation for the month of April to clear out older stock and that they will be sending new-to-subscriber products in May.

On the plus side, I like all the items this month, and if I was a new subscriber, I'd be happy with this box! And the bonus 6-week subscription to Cyberobics is a nice extra!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes!

DEAL: Check our GlossyBox Coupon List to get the most up-to-date coupon!

Value Breakdown: At $21 for this box, here’s what you are paying approximately per item:

  • Blush: $7.90
  • Lipstick: $3.05
  • Shower Gel: $2.69
  • Eye Cream: $6.64
  • Facial Wipes: $.72

March was my first box with GB and the Cover FX concealer pencil was opened and the product had been obvioused used or swatched. The tip was crushed and you could see the usual smooth finish an used product has was missing. I contacted them and they said they would send me a replacement. I never received it and won’t be holding my breath. I’m giving them one month to impress me before I unsubscribe. I didn’t receive the lipstick this month that the teaser featured. They do a fabulous job on presentation but really should put more of their effort into curation!

Sorry for the typos. It should say “the usual smooth finish an unused product has was missing”.

Glossybox was acquired a while ago and should already have it figured out by now. I subbed for a year a while back and been watching reviews to maybe sub again, but they look disappointing. It’s such a shame they worry more about how pretty the packaging is vs the stuff we get to try out.

I didn’t care for this months at all. I’m upset that I paid $23 for all these repeats and meh items. Bye the way, anyone else notice how they snuck extra fees in & quietly upped the monthly price?

Reply ButtonReply

Redhed36

What fees are those? Are you located in the US?

Are the fees more than what’s here;

“Shipping costs are already included in the price for those located in the United States. Applicable taxes will apply for residents from New York, New Jersey, Kentucky, California, Missouri and Utah.

Canadian residents will incur a $5 shipping fee for each box/month purchased. Applicable fees, such as exchange rates are incurred by the bank and/or credit card company and are not managed by GLOSSYBOX. Customers are responsible for paying the duty and other customs clearing expenses.

We strongly encourage those who intend to subscribe to read the terms and conditions, so they are aware of the any and all charges involved with our recurring service.”

Yes, taxes. I’m in Kentucky. Long term, Monthly subscriber and price went up quietly. They may have wrote that notice, but if you are only used to automatically getting charged, you don’t know to go back and check for price updates each month.

Debbie

Two repeat items in a 6 month window? No way, that’s just bad business. Add a 3rd repeat from last year and that’s a heck no Glossy! Tsk tsk.

So far no regrets not continuing my subscription thanks to this month’s box. To me this box seems to be missing something, like the hero item. I rarely get excited about ‘wet towelettes’. Plus I would not be happy if I received a smaller version of the foaming wash and not receive something in addition to equal it out. I read previous comments complaining about that. Hopefully next month will be better and these are just growing pains.

It’s too bad GB can’t do better. It was one of my favs for a long time. Now I only get their LE boxes.

I was so disappointed in this box. Not only were there three repeat items, but they were the exact same color/fragrance I’d received previously. I wouldn’t have been so annoyed about the repeat products had I gotten to at least try a different variation of them. My least favorite box in the four years I’ve been a subscriber. One more box like this and I will most certainly be canceling. 😕

For some reason I received two of the exact same box this month. I have no idea why. I love the lipstick, but I do not need three of them. Same goes with the eyecream, it takes forever to use one up! I have like 20 backups as it is. I like the shower gel, and will use it, but again, I don’t need 3 of them. I’d rather stock up on my favorite scent from B&BW. The cleansing wipes are the only welcome repeat, I will make use of them. Not sure I need two of a $44 blush. Can we talk about the ridiculous price on that too?

Emilia

I can understand the difference in scents but not in sizes of the shower foam.

Reply ButtonReply

Chantel

Yes, that really isn’t fair! I got the small one too.

Am I the only person who doesn’t like the Rituals shower gel? It’s not the scent, it’s the dispenser. I end up wasting large amounts of it by spraying it on the shower door instead of on my mesh sponge.

Reply ButtonReply

Annabella

No, I’m with you! I have to press it really carefully and slo mo to get only what i need and not more out. I don’t like squirt dispensers anyway for exactly this reason – you either get none at all, or too little or too much product. But I guess it is a hygenic solution.

Reply ButtonReply

Danielle

It sounds like maybe your dispenser is/was broken. Mine comes out slowly and controlled; it’s never sprayed out. Or maybe mine is the broken one. LOL!

Reply ButtonReply

Ragan

Nah, I’ve had 2 or 3 of them and they always do the same thing.

LB

LOL. I actually finally just used my Rituals I got from Glossybox last fall (same scent as above) last week for the first time and tried to spray it into my hand instead of a sponge. I was surprised by the “force” and quantity that came out…but luckily most actually did end up in my hand.

Tanya

I subscribed for first time for the eye cream. I removed my cc #…. won’t continue without spoilers … plus willing to try another box like look fantastic, beauty report or Birchbox but truth is I am finally getting to overload and lack of enthusiasm …plus their these boxes I know what I like and what works … there are only so many types of skin care and make up. That GB box is gorgeous so there is that, glad to have tried at least once. Actually like what the brits got I. Their GLossy. Liz, I used the blush as a highlighter on my deep toned skin and no ghosting ornwhite flashback.

Tanya

Lots of typos and grammar errors … so have it!!! Lol

Angie

So they give repeat items now? That’s disappointing! I got the rituals shower gel foam in last years October box in that same exact scent. and received that laqa & co. Lipstick in daydream as well in one of their boxes too! Same exact stuff!! I’m so glad I never got this box. I only buy when they have something I’ve never had and know all the spoilers .

Julie

I received that bath gel and lipstick before when they did the 10$ a month promo. I remember looking forward to the lipstick but when I opened it the actual product fell out of the packaging and on the floor. I never bothered to email them then but can’t imagine getting the same thing again for full price and being ok with it.

Reply ButtonReply

justmissjamey

Same for me. Lol I did email, sent photos and never got a replacement. Mine was dried out and broke in 2/3 chunks

Lauren

I got that Happy Buddha last year and I couldn’t help but notice it smells just like the stuff I used to treat my athletes foot as a kid. I like other Rituals scents I’ve tried, but that one – it’s not even a bad scent – but it really reminds me of the wrong thing!

Reply ButtonReply

Anna

Lauren,
I gave the body wash to my husband and it makes me think of the smell of a locker room.

Reply ButtonReply

Ann

SAME. Long time subscriber. Three repeated items after last months box contained two repeated items. My lip item and shower gel was also damaged. Glossybox sent me a full replacement, which was also damaged (the gel). Sadly I canceled my subscription after five years. My surveys indicated I was getting a different product assortment, but glossybox said those items were sold out. I’ll just buy one off boxes or shorter subscription or trade for items I want from future boxes. I’m so sad, GB was one of my favorites.
