Go Native! March 2018 Review
The info card thanks you for subscribing and has short blurbs about two of the featured companies included this month.
On the flipside, you'll find a list of the items and a short description of each.
Forage Hawaii Olena (Turmeric) and Papaya Seasoning Salt, 3 oz.
It doesn't look like this seasoning is available to order on their website, but I'm excited to receive a food item this month! I sprinkled some of this on a fresh tomato slice and man oh man was it tasty! I can't wait to use this to season some chicken, beef, or even green beans in the near future! The mixture contains sea salt, black pepper, papaya seeds, olena, onion, and garlic for a winning combo. This bag is a decent size so it should last quite a while.
Leinaala Bright Olena (Turmeric) Tincture, 1 oz.
Oh wow- this tincture doesn't go down particularly easy. One full dropper daily is recommended under the tongue, or to be dissolved in hot water. I thought I'd get straight to it and go under the tongue. In addition to the turmeric, this has black pepper as well and is dissolved in alcohol (as the "tincture" indicates). After the initial shock of the alcohol, I'm actually into the taste left behind. This is an immune system builder and anti-inflammatory, so it can be incorporated in your daily routine for wellness.
Mamalani Anti-Inflammatory Power Blend Roller, 10 ml
Wow- this smells wonderful! The blend of olena, hydrosol, and black pepper oil is conveniently put into this bottle with a roller ball so you can easily roll it over any painful areas (like feet, back, or neck to name a few) to deliver anti-inflammatory relief. I suffer from lower back pain constantly and I honestly did feel a bit of a difference after rolling this around. It delivers the perfect amount of the blend so it's not too messy either! Once again, I love adding an all-natural product to my medicinal arsenal.
Hooulu Aina Olena (Turmeric) Capsules
Like the tincture, these capsules can be taken as a daily supplement to treat inflammation and other ailments. I wasn't able to find much more info about these than what was on the card, but they seem to be pure Hawaiian olena powder in capsule form. I received seven capsules in a wee bottle, so I'll probably only use them when I think I need a boost.
Noho Designs Olena (Turmeric) Tea Towel - Retail Value $16.00
So fun to see an item like this in Go Native! In the past, I've received coaters, but that's one of the few home items I can recall. This flour sack tea towel is 100% cotton and it pre-washed so it won't shrink when you throw it in with the rest of your laundry. It has a beautiful illustration of the Olena plant in a very fitting turmeric-colored ink and says "La'au Lapa'au (Hawaiian Medicinal Herbs)" above it. This will look so nice in my kitchen!
Verdict: Go Native! sent me five really useful items this month! I happen to love turmeric (and was just talking to my bestie about it), so this box was a win all over for me! I'm excited to try all of the benefits of this medicinal herb and to brighten up my kitchen with the tea towel!
