How To Be A Redhead March 2018 Review
A note from Adrienne, Stephanie, and the H2BAR team regarding H2BAR’s mission statement regarding empowering redheads to feel like the babes they are!
On the back of the card is a handy listing with information about the products and their values.
Also, there is a two-sided flyer advertising the new H2BAR book along with a coupon. The other side is a notice to check out the new H2BAR site.
Roux Revlon Shampoo + Conditioner Packet Plus Roux Revlon Hair Tween Root Coverup - Listed Value $12, Buy Touch Up Stick here for $7.79, Buy 10.1 fl oz Roux Rejuvenating Shampoo or Conditioner for $9.99 each)
I tried all three of these products in this mini set, and honestly, I wasn’t impressed. The shampoo and conditioner seemed to leave a bit of a build-up in my hair. It felt a bit greasy after drying my hair. The touch-up stick felt like a waxy crayon on my hair. The coverage didn’t match my hair color, but worse was the texture. I know it is brutal going with roots in need of a touch-up, but this product will probably make your roots even more obvious. In the words of Mr. Horse from Ren and Stimpy, “Hmmmmmm. No, Sir, I don’t like it!”
Just for Redheads Cream Shadow in Delicate - Retail Value $20
Just for Redheads is a brand that has hair and beauty products designed for…well, redheads! The colors are designed to complement the hair and skin tones of redheads, which can be a difficult task. Cream shadows can be a hit or a miss due to creasing, but the good news is that isn’t the case for this shadow. It definitely is the epitome of Delicate though; you really have to build up this shadow to make it noticeable. It is very subtle but can be layered with other shades for a dramatic look. The packaging on this looks out of date, especially upon going to the Just For Redheads site and seeing the product. If you liked this shade, the site has a BOGO deal: buy one cream shadow, get a second free! You can specify if you want your second shade to be different.
Pretty Woman Nail Polish in Mermaid Kisses, .33floz - Retail Value $8.99
This is the second Pretty Woman nail polish that has been included in one of the H2BAR boxes I have reviewed. The first polish from them I received was a beautiful red in the December box. This March selection includes an iridescent blue hue called Mermaid Kisses. In the light, it almost looks pink or purple and definitely resembles a glimmering mermaid tail. It takes about three coats of this polish for a more opaque look. This polish reminds me of a Revlon Street Wear brand polish I had in high school, so if you miss that brand this color is right up your alley for sure!
H2BAR “Red Hair is More Than a Color, It’s a Lifestyle” Magnet - Listed Value $10
Guys, all t, no shade… but I myself do not know why this magnet is $10. I absolutely love the phrase on it, but this is a very thin, low-quality magnet. This magnet could easily be replicated for a significantly lower cost. Maybe it is just my DIY/crafting ethos, but I just couldn’t justify paying $10 for this, possibly $3 max.
Cremo Shaving Crème, 1 fl oz. - Listed Value $6, Buy 6 fl oz for $5.97
Typically, I use hair conditioner to shave myself with, so I was excited to try this product. I used the Cremo shaving crème on my under arms and legs. The texture is like a fluffy paste. The shaving crème left my legs and under arms silky smooth, so I would certainly consider buying the full sized tube when out shopping. Plus, somehow the larger tube is the same retail as the sample I got in this month’s box… so, no brainer there!
Elizabeth Mott Queen of the Fill Eyebrow Gel in Auburn - Retail Value $20
Allow me to be blunt: I am loving this eyebrow gel! Thanks, H2BAR, this is one of my favorite items in this month’s box! I usually use a brow filler from Sally’s, but I loved the mascara wand style brush on this product. The brush allowed me to comb my brows a bit, shape/ keep them in place with the gel, and the best part is once this dries your brows will be in place for hours. No fear of rubbing off a brow and needing to reapply, my queens!
Crack Styling Crème .75fl oz. - Buy 1.25 fl oz tube for $15
WARNING: Crack styling gel is HIGHLY addictive! Upon using this, it softened my frizzy, dry ends perfectly. This leave in cream has Acai extract and Wheat protein in it. It also protects against chlorine, humidity, and sun. This is a winning product for natural or bottle ginger alike!
Tressa Watercolors Liquid Copper Shampoo, 2 fl oz. - Listed Value $5, Buy 8 fl oz for $28
Maintaining dyed red hair can be brutal! If your hair is lighter it will fade to almost blonde and if it is darker it will look more brunette at instances. I rely on products like Overtone in between salon visits to keep my hair vivid and vibrant. I am always open to trying other color depositing products. This shampoo is fantastic and deposits a rich orangey, copper tone to red hair. It also left my hair feeling silky. My only complaint is I may have preferred to try the conditioner. I feel that color depositing conditioners are generally more effective than shampoos.
Albertini Body Lotion - Listed Value $2, Buy 9 fl oz for $12
This is an in-shower body moisturizer that works rather well, especially for the cost. They weren’t lying either, this is definitely unscented and mild for sensitive skin. I came out of the shower with extra soft skin, so I would certainly consider buying a full-size tube!
Starlooks Lipgloss in Ideal .09fl oz - Retail Value $12
This month’s free gift may be my favorite next to the eyebrow gel! I rarely wear lip gloss these days, but this color is so perfect that I couldn’t resist it--- I mean, there is a reason why they named it Ideal! The gloss is incredibly opaque, and not slimey or ridiculously sticky like most lip glosses. The color is fantastic because it isn’t too pink, coral, or tan… it is a perfect shade for most skin colors, but especially flattering on a redhead. It paired perfectly with my go-to Morphe Matte Liquid Lipstick in Brunch! I am definitely going to purchase a tube when this sample runs out--- that is a testament to how much I love this product!
Verdict: I love H2BAR! Granted, this month had a few bumps in the road, but the products I received that I loved I REALLY loved! The price point for this box and what you get makes it such an incredible value! My favorite items this month would have to be the Starlook lip gloss, Elizabeth Mott Queen of the Fill Eyebrow Gel, and Tress Watercolors Copper Shampoo. This box has made me privy to so many brands I hadn’t even heard of before, which is also exciting! This is definitely a box I am eager to get each month! This box cost me $18.98 including free shipping. Keep in mind the eyebrow gel was $20 alone, so this box was an amazing value! Per the card of price listings, the value of this box is $99. That is roughly an $80 savings for an $18.98 box chock full of products!
