Two things were different with the box this month:

  1. No info fold-out card with $5 coupon. (I'm not sure if it's just missing. Let me know if you got one.)
  2. And instead of a zip makeup bag, we get a drawstring bag:

Now, on to the items!

TonyMoly I'm Green Tree Sheet Mask - Retail Value $3

I received Tony Moly masks before in an Ipsy glam bag and in the February Macy's Beauty Box, and I think they are fab. You leave them on for 20-30 minutes, remove, and let any excess product absorb. This left my skin feeling super hydrated and soft.

Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream - Sample Card

This sample card includes 4 different shades of the tinted moisturizer.

Here they are swatched:

While I'm a little annoyed at the sample size, I like that they sent several shades. (This feels more like a freebie and less like one of 6 samples, though.)

I'd recommend this formula for anyone looking for light to medium coverage with a dewy finish. Personally, I need more coverage and a formula that fights oil a bit. (My skin was well past dewy after I applied this.)

Schmidt’s Rose + Vanilla Natural Deodorant – .7 oz Value $1.32

I just tried this thanks to the April Target Beauty Box, and I'm loving it!

I love the idea of natural/ingredient-conscious deodorants, but I usually end up going back to my tried-and-true Secret or Dove because they work better/are easier to use.

First, I love that this comes in stick form. (The natural deodorants that are in a jar and you have to apply with your fingertips, just aren’t for me. I need the ease of a stick!)

Second, I was surprised by how much I liked the scent. Normally, I shy away from anything rose-scented, but this rose + vanilla combination is lovely.

And third, this worked well for me! I wore it on an hour walk, and still smelled like roses after! (Just an FYI – the scent sticks around, so be prepared to smell like this deodorant for the whole day.)

Origins Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream - 5 ml Value $10.33

This eye cream is designed to help reduce dark circles and depuff under eye bags. It's hydrating, light, and gentle, but I didn't notice any difference in the appearance of the skin around my eyes. (For reference, I have undereye circles, but no puffiness/undereye bags.)

Korres Wild Rose + Vitamin C Advanced Brightening Sleeping Facial – 20 ml Value $24

(Good to know for swapping – this product has an inner foil seal.)

This is half the size of the full-size version!

The formula is designed to brighten the complexion, even out skin tone, and provide intense amounts of hydration. I’ve tried it for one night now, and I couldn’t believe how soft it made my skin feel. I will definitely use every last drop of this sleeping facial!

Coola Mineral Sunscreen Mineral BB Cream - 5 ml Value $3.60

Coola is my favorite ingredient-conscious sunscreen brand! (I highly recommend checking out their scented body sprays - they smell like delicious tropical cocktails.)

This sunscreen is unscented, though. But no complaints. It has a tint but provides pretty much no coverage in terms of a BB cream/foundation. The matte finish is great - and I could apply this over my makeup with no problems.

Verdict: This box has an estimated value of about $42.25 (not counting the makeup bag or the BareMinerals card.) I think that's a good value for a $15 beauty box. This isn't my favorite Macy's Beauty Box, but I still like it. There are some samples that are way too small in my opinion, but there are also some great sized samples. So... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ? And I'm always happy to get quality skincare in an inexpensive beauty box.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, right now the site says your first box will be the June box if you sign up today. (3/31)

They are having massive technical issues for the past two months and I spent over and hour going back and forth with various customer service agents where no body is able to tell me what the problem is although someone in “technical support” told me it was a “known” issue.

Any may spoilers yet?!?!

Brook

It looks like their spoilers come out the first Friday of the month. At least, that’s been the trend on MSA for 2018.

I received a $5 off card in the last box. It’s good from April 1 thru June 2, 2018.

My card and coupon was in there…..is something going on with this sub?!?!

It seems so many people are having issues, but not only that, I believe once before they stopped their box suddenly and then started back up a year or more later…

I love the drawstring bag. I’m so up for a change. I have a zillion zip up bags and I cancelled ipsy because I keep getting crap

I loved this month’s box! I did get a card. I have a question. You said that June would be new subscribers first box. Are they not doing one in May?

Reply ButtonReply

Liz Cadman

They are doing a May box, but currently that box is sold out. Sorry for any confusion!

When you go to check out and got total, before you pay, on the right hand side there is a coupon/offer box, you just put your code in there. Online you are only allowed to use for beauty related items. It won’t let you use for clothes, shoes etc.

Also if you live by a Macy store, some say you can use it online and at the store (use online first) they closed the Macy’s in my town 4 years or so ago so I haven’t tried the “in store” but regulars here have said they have.

I used my coupon on a set of OXO airtight containers, so it didn’t restrict me to beauty. I used the app, but I don’t think it’s any different than using the website.

JuJu

Actually, it doesn’t matter which you do first – you can use the coupon at a store first, it will still work online, since it’s two different codes.
I’ve done it both ways.

Nancyisshopping

OK, now I’m sad that I swapped away the Korres….

I have received the Korres sleeping facial in another sub (Allure or Ipsy, can’t remember) and absolutely love it.

Missy

I loved it too! It didn’t take long to see improvement either!

Most of these samples have been featured in recent (over the past year) ipsy, Birchbox, Sephora, and/or Allure boxes. I thought that a Macy’s box would be more about the brands that have makeup stands in the stores (more Estee Lauder, more Dior, that sort of brand). For a $15 box, Allure is the better deal in my opinion.

Reply ButtonReply

Brittany

I completely agree! I have found the Allure boxes to be on the boring side at times, but they always have bigger sample sizes and brands you don’t see in every other box.

Tanya

I also received the $5 coupon. I hope they continue to provide it and that it was just an oversight on their part that it was missing from your bag!

I agree that the Bare Minerals “sample” was really more of a freebie-size, which was disappointing. I do love the Korres Sleeping Facial, though. I just finished a sample of it from a different box, and I didn’t realize how much better it made my skin look until I stopped using it for a couple of weeks. I didn’t experience any burning at all (as someone mentioned in another comment), and my skin can be fairly sensitive. It’s one product I will likely purchase the full-size of!

nonya

Same, I will buy the full size of this too, it’s wonderful.

I just bought a tube of the Bare Escentuals (my favorite make up line). I am retired and stay home a lot so I take some day cream, my skin is very dry, mix it with the tinted hydration gel put on a little blush and lipstick and I am good for the day.

Missy

I love Love Love that foundation! I have oily skin too but I think it actually helps and I’m not into wearing a lot of foundation I’ll just use some concealer on the spots that need a lil extra attention. I’m like u I love bare minerals!!! Here I have pretty much any product I could ever want or need thanks to my addiction but I find myself gravitating to my bare minerals products all the time!

Missy

Oh and there last mystery box was AWESOME! I’m literally using everything and I don’t think that’s ever happened to me !!

Redhed36

I never received my April bag nor was I billed for it. So I decided to cancel, not mad, but have to get this subscription addiction under control. So no Liz I definitely did not receive my info card and $5. 🙂

ssk7783

That happened to me in February. I was kind of upset because I liked that bag, but haven’t liked the last two at all so I cancelled.

colleent.

I found the fragrance in the Korres a bit too much. It burned my face, or it could be because it has alcohol pretty near the top of the ingredient list, and I did not realize that before using it. I decided to use the rest of it on the back of my hands at night.

Reply ButtonReply

JuJu

I keep repeating this – just shows how much cosmetics companies know, formulating what is supposed to be a hydrating mask with alcohol denat and fragrance. I wonder who their cosmetics “chemists” are and what they even know about skincare.

Reply ButtonReply

Lorraine

Usually when you see alcohol listed in the ingredients, it is to solubilize another ingredient that is neither water soluble nor oil soluble. I do try to avoid it though.

Missy

Wow

Chantel

I am SO on the fence with this box. I like the $5 coupon, but I can barely justify the cost versus what the box is typically worth. I hope that they step up their game a little bit moving forward. I also think that a real makeup bag would be preferred over this drawstring bag that really has no purpose. You might as well send it in a box, since the bag is not really reusable.

Reply ButtonReply

LoriW.

Every MSA review on this sub, this is the only one with a drawstring bag. They’ve all had real makeup bags up until now. I like the pouch, i have a zillion bags from all the varies subs. I just toss them into my donate bin.

Reply ButtonReply

Cristina

I think they permanently changed to these weird drawstring bags unfortunately. Their regular bags were better quality than Ipsy’s. I also got my $5 coupon.

katie

I did receive the $5 coupon.
