March 2018 Marvel Gear + Goods 'Danger Room' Review

This box was all about the X-Men - past and present - plus it stuck to a baseball theme.

The box inverts into your very own locker at Xavier's Academy.

The baseball card style information card was very appropriate for the theme.

The New Mutants Demon Bear Enamel Pin - Value $5-10?

I love the new pin designs for this box - and it continues this month! Each pin has been a classic comic cover, and this month shows cases an issue of The New Mutants.

X-Men Baseball Tee - Value $20-25?

The big item of the month is this X-Men baseball tee.

It showcases the year of issue #1 - 1963 - along with the colors of those original suits.

I had to try this one on, even though it's still a bit too cold to wear it.

Overall, the fit is a little tighter than expected - and it's got that typical baseball jersey type feel to it.

It's a fun idea, but I'm not a huge baseball jersey person - so I'm not sure how much use this will get for me.

Magneto Cap - Value $15-20?

Magneto just happens to be one of my favorite characters - and this hat is definitely my favorite item!

It's got that classic little bit of his helmet on the front of the hat.

It's a snap back, which is the only bit of this that I don't love, but it does allow for a one size fits all item, so I get it.

Even the under brim has an awesome Magneto sketch on it.

Kitty Pride Water Bottle - Value $15?

I was introduced to Kitty Pride pretty early into my fandom with that classic "Pride of the X-Men" animated feature - so this one is a bit nostalgic.

Kitty is partially phasing through - a fun little design.

It's BPA free and a pretty straightforward water bottle.

Mystique Socks - Value $10-12?

The final item is a pair of socks that has Mystique written all over it.

They're the classic blue color of the character and include the X-Men insignia and the skull from her belt. The socks are on the thin side - they'll be nice for Spring.

Verdict: I like this better than the last shipment - but I'm also a bigger X-Men fan than anything else. My only issue is that I don't love the hero item - I'm not sure if I'll really wear it - but the other items, including the pin, are great. At $42, the value is there - but it's also at the point where you might be tight on value if you don't like one of the items.

As a general word of caution – Loot Crate has been having numerous manufacturing delays across a number of their lines – it’s something to beware of if you’re trying to get a box on a schedule.

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, your first theme will be displayed on the landing page.
