Mighty Fix April 2018 Review

Each box includes an info card telling you about the featured item and how what they chose to send you helps your house be “greener,” and you be “healthier”! This month’s featured items are four stainless steel drink straws and brush cleaner. The back of the card always has a DIY recipe associated with the monthly product. This month’s DIY item is a recipe for an antioxidant avenger smoothie.

Endurance Set of Four Drinking Straws - Retail Value $10.00

I get excited each month for a new product that will be an eco-friendly, practical and a useful item for my life. I was excited to open up my Mighty Fix package this month and was pleased to receive a set of four drink straws. The drink straws are 8-1/2” long,18/8 polished stainless steel, and very sturdy. It was weird sipping from a stainless steel straw; I’m usually bending or biting the top of my straw and sucking every ounce of liquid from it, but with this straw, there was none of that. The straw was long enough to fit in my can of soda, and I was able to get a satisfactory seal around the top of the straw to sip my soda. The straws are dishwasher safe, but its recommend to rinse after every use and clean with the stainless steel brush cleaner provided.

Here’s a close-up of the stainless steel straw, it's slightly curved at the top.

Here’s a close-up of the end of the straw.

Drink Straw Cleaning Brush - Estimated Value $2.00 (buy a set of 2 for $4.00)

This 10 ¼” long brush has flexible stainless steel wire and stiff bristles at the end. The cleaning brush fits inside the straw to clean the inside thoroughly. The cleaning brush is easier to clean the bottom of the straw as opposed to the top of the straw which is curved. I was able to get the brush in the curved portion of the straw; I had to slightly push down inside the straw to get the brush inside. I’m glad Mighty Nest included the cleaning utensil for the reusable straws.

Here is a close-up of the stiff, soft bristle ends.

Here’s a close up of the end of the brush cleaner and I could use the little loop at the end for hanging/storing from a tack pin.

Verdict: This was a useful Mighty Fix. I’m blown away by what I receive each month and how my home is slowly becoming environmentally friendly. I still have a long way to go, but this subscription makes it easy and fun to accomplish. I would have never thought to own reusable stainless steel straws, but Mighty Fix knew I needed them. I’m happy to own a set. This subscription always sends quality products that are above the cost of the subscription except for this month it’s a couple of dollars over. It delivers on sending healthier alternatives for my home and personal use. This subscription doesn’t send the same item each month to everyone that subscribes, so keep in mind that if you choose to subscribe your item may be different from what I received. Also, readers have mentioned in previous reviews that they had already received a product I was reviewing.

I can’t seem to find the billing date on their website. Does anyone know?

LOL! My first ‘box’ and of all the things it could have been, it’s metal drinking straws which are my biggest fear. I use hard plastic reusable straws, these just seem too dangerous for me.

Hi! I love these straws. I’d love to swap with you!

I’m a longtime user of handmade glass straws. If you dig these, you’d probably enjoy glass straws too. I have them in all sizes and widths from short cocktail straws to long, thick smoothie straws and even long skinny straws to fit cold Starbucks beverages. I even carry a case with a glass straw in my purse for when I pick up drinks while I’m out. (My family thinks it’s hysterical that I keep a straw in my purse and never use plastic straws.)

I’ve started carrying a straw with me wherever I go. It’s easy to say you don’t need a straw when you’re eating out or getting fast food, and these are easy to clean.

Your review was well done considering you had to show and talk about stainless steel straws.
LOL. I think they are a great idea. I am all for saving our environment as much as I can.

I love mighty fix! The products are always useful, and a sub is so inexpensive!

I rarely use straws to drink from (since they contribute to plastic waste as well as promote wrinkles around your mouth!), but these will be really useful for hulling strawberries!
