Not Your Mother’s Kinky Moves Curl Defining Hair Cream-

Not Your Mother’s Kinky Moves Curl Defining Hair Cream, Full Size - Retail Value $7.00

This curl defining cream with grape seed and jasmine extract is perfect to keep your curls frizz free and to keep your locks looking beautiful. Apply the cream to damp or wet hair, saturating your locks by scrunching hair and product together and let air dry or use a hair diffuser. I don’t have curly hair and wear my hair in braids, so I will pass this product on to a friend.

Donore Cosmetics- “DragonBerry” Lip/Cheek Pod

Donore Cosmetics “DragonBerry” Lip/Cheek Pod, Full Size - Retail Value $22.00

This multi-use product gave me a pop of color to my cheeks and lips. The product used on my lip was moisturizing, and I must admit the color slowly grew on me when I first applied it. I didn’t like the shade on me, but after applying again, I was pleased with the color. I applied the cheek stain to the apple of my cheeks, and I was pleasantly surprised by the creamy texture. Its easier to apply less and build upon the color. From Donore Cosmetics:

About The Product

  • Vegan, organic, dye-free, chemical free, petroleum-free, preservative-free, fragrance-free

  • Chemical free safe lipstick

  • A simple, healthy formula of cocoa butter waxes, oils, and mineral pigments that go on creamy for long-lasting wear

  • Like a lip balm, the Organic Face lipsticks moisturize chapped lips

  • Gluten-free, fd&c dye-free, petroleum-free, preservative-free, fragrance-free. Vegan. 98 % organic 100 % chemical free

Donore Cosmetics included an info card with a 20% off code.

LUA Skincare Eye Beam Oil-

LUA Skincare Eye Beam Oil, Full Size – Retail Value $20.00

I’m prone to get tired, puffy eyes and was excited to see this product in this month’s box. I applied the stainless steel roller under my eye area, and I gently pat the product into my skin. The roller felt cool to my skin, and I did see a noticeable change in puffiness under my eyes.  The oils in the roller ball intend to protect against premature aging and decrease puffiness. Some of the oils, grapeseed oil, apricot kernel, jojoba, hempseed, sweet almond, and perilla oil assist in preventing fine lines and wrinkles.

DIRECTIONS FOR DAILY USE:

MORNING: Roll eye oil on under eyes, gently pat into the skin from corner to corner & lightly on eyelids if wearing makeup.

EVENING: Roll around the entire eye, gently pat into skin, eyelids, eyebrows (they need moisture too!), & massage into eyelashes, avoiding direct contact with eyes.

Medusa’s Make-Up Witch Lash-Black Noir, Full Size - Retail Value $12.00

This cruelty-free, vegan mascara with flexible wand intends to give my lashes volume and length.  The rubber bristles are short, soft and flexible. I was able to reach the lashes in the corner of my eyes. I did notice some length after wearing the mascara for a day. Since the brush didn’t have long bristles or curved, I didn’t get the volume I’m accustomed to that I have seen from other mascaras I have used. Overall, the mascara did deliver in lengthening my lashes and being cruelty-free, and vegan is a plus. Also, they have a monthly cruelty-free, vegan beauty box for $15.95 a month.

RAEKA Beauty Turmeric Orange-Peel-Off Mask

RAEKA Beauty Turmeric Orange-Peel-Off Mask, Deluxe Size - Retail Value $8.00

Turmeric has many benefits such as, removing toxins, combating eczema, best for those with oily skin or acne scars, and an antioxidant that prevents premature signs of aging. This deluxe sample size is good for at least two uses; I still have some product left over, not sure how much is left to cover my entire face but I'm guessing its good for another full use. I cleansed my face and evenly applied the peel over my face avoiding my eye area. The peel felt cool to my skin while it was drying and when the peel had dried, my skin felt tight. The peel was shiny and smooth on my face, once dried. I left the peel on my skin for twenty minutes and slowly peeled off the mask from my skin (the mask peeled off in one swipe, and I had excess around my face that I wiped off with a face cloth). My skin felt smooth and soft. It's recommended to use the peel once or twice a week.

From RAEKA:

An original! Turmeric is used for treating acne, oily skin, signs of aging, pigmentation correction, and facial hair growth. With its many anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, This Turmeric peel is effective in removing impurities by removing the top layer of dead skin cells. This will result in a smooth complexion when used regularly.

Verdict: We Are Onyx Beauty Box has a value of $69.00 which is a good deal for a $25.00 box with free shipping. The box gave me products for my hair, and face with more emphasis on facial products. I enjoyed using the turmeric orange facial peel and the eye beam oil; these two are my favorites from the box. I am pleased that this box caters to WOC and products are sent suitable for my skin tone, hair texture, and I’m supporting black-owned businesses.
