Sticky Kit April 2018 Review
On the back of the little "Enjoy your April Kit" welcome card is this quick thank you with info about where to find Sticky Kit online. The Sticky Kit shop usually has past kits available for purchase, and occasionally they have products from the current month's subscriptions for sale.
Frontier "Teaware" Pochibukuro Mini Envelope
Sticky Kit includes a bonus non-tape item in their washi tape kits and this time it was a small envelope patterned with kitchen supplies such as tea kettles, pots, bowls, whisks, and more. It's so cute! I can see myself using it to gift a piece of jewelry or perhaps to pass along a family recipe.
Roundtop x Yano Design Japanese Sweets Washi Tape - Estimated Value $6.50
To kick things off here is a delightfully artful tape featuring all sorts of Japanese snacks and desserts. I'm no connoisseur of Japanese foods, but these ones are illustrated so beautifully that it makes me want to try them all! Perhaps you can see from the image of the washi tape roll that this tape has die-cut edges, which is a thoughtful and artful touch.
I put this tape to use right away in my kitchen! My husband has been making himself "bulletproof coffee" in the morning, have you heard of it? It's when you add a dollop of coconut oil (or butter or ghee) into your coffee and blend it so that it's creamy and frothy, like a latte. It's supposedly amazing for energy levels and cognitive function. I'm not a big coffee drinker, but I decided to try it with tea. So, in the above picture, you can see the blender cup that came with my immersion blender all set up and waiting for my tea water to boil. I'm can't stand it when my tea bag tab plunges into the hot water, yet I'm so bad about remembering to hold it in place, so I taped it in position!
mt Mujinagiku Hiwa Washi Tape - Retail Value $2.13
This pattern looks so familiar, I could've sworn I received it in a previous Sticky Kit Washi Tape package! But, alas, I looked back through the archives of my reviews and I think it must just be similar to a design I've seen before. Either way, I love it! It features one of my favorite colors and has a really nice, neutral print that I can see being very versatile in crafts and such.
I received my Sticky Kit Washi Tape package right at the tail end of tax season, and I was determined to keep my tax documents organized this year. So I grabbed a folder and indicated what's inside each pocket as you can see above. Back in college when I used folders more regularly, I stopped writing subjects directly on the front so that I could reuse them without having to cross anything out. Using washi tape is an effective and arguably more eye-catching solution!
Active Corporation Shibata-san and Miyake-san Washi Tape - Estimated Value $3.50
I'm a true animal lover, so I am totally obsessed with this tape! It looks like Shibata-san and Miyake-san might be Japanese cartoon characters. Add this to the list of cartoons I wish were real! I love Shiba Inu pups and Calico cats alike.
My husband and I keep an ongoing grocery list taped to our fridge so we can add to it as our regular items run out. I like to tape the list instead of using one of our clip magnets so that the list lays flat. Don't Shibata-san and Miyake-san look cute among our other refrigerator decorations?
mt Tea Ceremony Washi Tape - Retail Value $3.19
This tape is absolutely fascinating! It gives step-by-step directions for how to have a Japanese tea ceremony. What an interesting medium for such a concept. I almost don't want to use it and would rather save it! I guess that would make it a good candidate for scrapbooking our journaling—sticking it somewhere where it could be preserved and seen again.
The Verdict: I love the variety in this month's Sticky Kit Washi Tape selection! That was a piece of feedback I had for last month's offerings, and Sticky Kit seemed to have been listening. A mix of versatile, novelty, and artistic tapes is totally my perfect box, so I was really happy this time around. This subscription costs $16.99 and the contents added up to an estimated $15.32. I'm fine with this value because it's fun to be surprised by the different designs!
