BarkBox customizes your box to your dog’s size. For reference, this review is for the small size (our dog weighs 14 pounds). Check out Ragan's most recent review of the super chewer box!

April 2018 Barkbox Review

The April 2018 BarkBox Subscription Box was themed: BarkBeard's Treasure: A Pirate's Tail! Your box will differ - ours included soft toys, treats, and a chew!

They always include a card. On here, you'll see variations of toys your pup could have received - accompanied, typically, by some type of social media contest.

This turned out to be one of Buckles' all-time favorites!

BarkBeard's Bandana - Value $10?

This didn't have a value in the app - so I went with the typical value of a dog bandana.

It's on the thin side - and it's a bit big on Buckles...

But that doesn't mean he's not cute in it!

Clam Overboard! - Value $12

I wanted to start with this little clam and pearls toy because it has all of the elements of a Buckles favorite toy!

It has two removable pearl plush toys, each with a squeaker, and a crinkly plush clam. Buckles absolutely LOVES this thing - he actually grabbed a pearl and took it off of the set so we couldn't take it away.

Merv the Squirmaid King - Value $12

The second toy is another crinkle-filled, squeaker-filled, plush toy.

This is Merv, and he was a surprise favorite for Buckles.

This was another toy that we just could not take off of him - and it was a bit of a surprise after the clam toy - two major wins.

Captain Cheddar's Gold Nuggets - Value $12

These little bites are made with chicken and cheese - there was no reason for Buckles to not love these!

These are wheat-free, soy-free, and corn-free - as expected, these are favorites.

Merpups Pearls - Value $12?

These treats were different than the treats in our app - so we're going with that same value.

Like the other treats, these are chicken and cheese - and a perfect tiny size for snacking.

Backstrap Chew - Value $4

The final item in the box is a 100% beef chew that aid in teeth cleaning. I let Buckles try this one since I wanted to help get his teeth cleaned. He didn't take to it immediately but started snacking on a little piece.

Verdict: Outside of the bandana that was a bit too big - everything else was just a series of new favorites for Buckles! I love when the box feels perfect for our dog, and this certainly was one.

I can’t decide who or what is cuter – Buckles or the contents of this box? Ok, it’s Buckles, but what an wonderfully curated selection this month! I think that I want a Merv the Squimaid for myself.
