First, you'll see a thank you note from founder Danny Taing.

Happy Anniversary, Bokksu!

Hoshu Tea x3 bags - Total Retail Value $6.00
Bokksu always includes tea in each box, and this time it's this sencha tea that is said to have a subtle and smooth flavor. The pale lavender packet opens to reveal a mesh cloth tea bag in a pyramid form. Once in water, you'll see this green tea start to change the water to an antique green color. I agree that it's subtle and is a lovely compliment to any of these snacks.
Macha and White Chocolate Covered Azuki Beans x4 - Buy 9 Packets for $9.00
I remember trying these not too long ago and loving them! Although I'm not super familiar with azuki beans, they are dipped into white chocolate, followed by macha powder to create this soft and delicious snack.
Sweet Potato Langue De Chat x3 - Total Retail Value $6.00
This unique sandwich cookie is made of square butter cookies with a creme filling of white chocolate mixed with sweet potato. I'm not a huge fan of sweet potato but this crispy cookie and sweet filling do hit the spot. It's unlike any flavor I've had before!
Kinako Mochi x2 - Buy 6 Packs for $12.00
Upon opening, these almost look like croutons, but a closer look shows that these are puffed airy snacks that will soon have you in heavenly bliss. The info sheet calls these "cloud-like confections" and I have to agree. They're dusted with kinako powder which is made from roasted soybeans, but the flavor is a dead ringer for peanut butter! Perhaps these would be a tasty alternative to anyone with a peanut allergy who may miss the nutty taste!
Edamame Senbei x3 - Total Retail Value $3.00
Bokksu has introduced me to the wonderful world of senbei crackers and for that I am grateful. This chubby edamame shaped cracker has edamame bits baked in and uses the same tasty kinako powder as the previous puffed snack. It's really quite delicious and makes for a great marriage of sweet and savory.
White Raspberry Cookie x2 - Total Retail Value $4.00
Perhaps the prettiest snack this month is this rye cookie that is coated in white chocolate and sprinkled with crushed raspberries. My word, that is yummy! The cookie itself is light and crispy like a wafer and the super sweet chocolate tones down the tartness of the raspberry chunks. I think I'm in love.
Fruit Pound Cake x2 - Total Retail Value $4.00
It's always impressive to me when poundcake takes such a long trip and stays moist inside its package. Although fruitcake can get a bad rep around the holidays as a gift no one wants, this one is quite the opposite. The small buttery pound cake is soaked in syrup and contains fruits like raisins, oranges, cranberries, and figs to bring this warm weather a breath of winter.
Olive Oil Salt Senbei Herb and Vinegar Flavor x3 - Buy 15 Pieces for $5.00
Yessss, more senbei! These rice crackers are so crunchy and really satisfy my savory craving with the olive oil, salt, vinegar and herb flavors that are all easily detected.
Okinawa Soba - Retail Value $4.00
This package is hard to forget! The dragon on the front is really coming at you! These are deep-fried soba noodles that have been seasoned with red pepper are spicy so be ready for a kick! They're the perfect snack to eat while sipping on a beer on the porch this summer.
Takoyaki Corn Puffs - Retail Value $3.00
Those illustrated puffs look so darn cute on this package and the photo of what I have learned to be pan-fried balls of octopus topped with special sauce looks wonderful. The flavor of these is quite strange as it starts savory but hits some sweet points as well. I'm going to say that these are slowly addictive. A really unique flavor indeed!
Okinawa Chinsuko Cookies - Retail Value $3.00
Another snack I recall is this one from a past brown-sugar themed box. The package comes with individually wrapped shortbread cookies flavored with pure sugarcane juice from Okinawa that has been cooked down to produce the special complexly flavored brown sugar. They are not too soft and not too crunchy, but crumble as soon as you bite down.
Verdict: Bokksu took me on a trip down memory lane with this month's All Stars themed snacks. I remembered many of these from past boxes and even the obscure flavors make me salivate or more. I received 10 different snacks and a tea that equaled more than that since many were doubled or tripled up. It's always a pleasure to experience the snacks of Japan with Bokksu.
