This month's date theme is "A Night at the Carnival!"
Velcro Dart Game – Retail Value $9.97
Going along with the circus theme, they included this velcro dart game for the couples to play. One player is the balls and the other is the darts. In the info packet, they have a little scoring sheet with the goal to be to hit every number once.
Weisenberger Funnel Cake Mix, 8 oz – buy a 2 pack for $7.99
I was really excited to see that they sent us funnel cake mix! They sent us a pizza crust mix from this brand in last month's box and it was really good and easy. This cake mix was the same way! They sent a cone cup to use as a funnel. Cut the tip off, and one person holds/dispenses the batter while the other keeps spooning in batter. It’s a small cup, though, so we just opted to pour the batter into a baggie with the corner cut off. Also included were sugar and powdered sugar for topping.
I should have picked a smaller pan to get smaller, “personal sized” funnel cakes but we ended up with enough to make 3 big funnel cakes!
This was my second – the last two turned out better than the first because the first was kind of figuring it all out, but they were really good! And too much for just the two of us.
So yummy. They send powdered sugar and regular sugar to coat them with.
The Inheritance Race Escape Room Game – Retail Value $15+
I value this at $15+ because I found the printable version of this escape room game on Etsy, but Bonding Bees printed it out and included the extra pieces needed, plus the prize for beating the game. The premise of this game:
A rich old tycoon, with no family left, needs to leave his inheritance to someone, but not just anyone. He wants to make sure his fortune lands into the right hands. That's why he's locked you and other couples in separate rooms. The couple who gets out first, wins it all.
Difficulty level is a 5 out of 10. If you're an avid escape room gamer, this might be on the easier side. If you've never played an escape room game, this is the perfect game to start.
We love puzzles and escape rooms and this is was fun – we’ve played an escape room game from a different date night box before and had a blast. The puzzles here are on paper, but you log onto a website and enter the codes for each clue and there are links for hints and such. You’re supposed to finish in an hour, but the webpage didn’t have a timer so we set one ourselves. We finished with 17 minutes to spare!
You’re supposed to start off handcuffed together, and you get the key for them after the first or second clue. Bonding Bees sent a very cheap plastic pair of cuffs, which honestly I somewhat appreciated because I knew if they got stuck we could probably cut through them easily enough. 😂 The plastic key that was included was too flimsy to even turn in the lock but we could bend them to get out just fine.
There were various sheets of paper with itineraries, notes, collection inventories, and an asset ledger, etc.
Two Pillowcases
Surprise, surprise, we got out and the prize was these two pillow case covers! Cute!
Also in the box were a couple raffle tickets for prizes that Bonding Bees was giving away – carnival-related things like a big popcorn machine or cotton candy maker.
The Verdict: This was a really fun date night for us! Our favorite dates are ones with fun and games (and treats!) so this was perfect for us. The escape room was pretty fun, but it wasn’t quite as exciting as the one we tried in a different box, that had a playlist on Spotify for us to play in the background and a timer, and every wrong answer we put took a couple minutes off of our 1-hour span to win it. Those were just nice touches. This game still gave us the important part of sitting together and working on something different and somewhat challenging (there were 3 clues, and one of them was really simple). The funnel cake was great and even the darts are something that’s cute to have on hand because my toddler likes to play with them too. The pillowcases softened after washing and are a cute touch, too.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, boxes for each month ship the first and second week of that month. If you ordered today, you’d get the June box. (Their website says if you order a box in the 2nd week of a month, they’ll try to get you that month’s box as long as supplies last but they can’t guarantee.)

Value Breakdown: This kind of box is really subjective and can be hard to state a real value on because it may be different for everyone. It’s definitely about the subjective gain from the experience and not about what you tangibly get for your money. We had a fun time, and it did get us doing things we normally wouldn’t (aka we did things other than takeout & Netflix) and we didn’t have to find or pay a babysitter.
