Cuddle Crate is a monthly subscription box for pets. You can opt for a dog box (choose your dog size), a cat box, or a small animal box (select gerbil/hamster or rabbit/guinea pig). You can also combine pet types with higher tier subscriptions (i.e., get a combined cat/rabbit box) and opt for a bi-monthly box if monthly is too often for you.
My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)
This review is of the Bronze Level Cat subscription for $29.95 a month.

Cuddle Crate May 2018 Review
Cuddle Crate typically sends out a variety of toy types as well as (usually) one package of treats if you have the single pet type option selected. Let’s see what the cats got this month:
They’ve moved away from an information card listing the items in the box and instead are directing you to a URL where you can look up more information about the items.
My box was wet this month so I had to let it dry for a day or two. I thought this was rain (it was delivered on a rainy day) but that’s not all it was. Find out more below.
Emerald Pet Feline Dental Treats (chicken, 3 oz) – Retail Value $3.99
These are a cat subscription box mainstay. They come in different flavors and my cats react to all of them about the same way (that is, Sneaky and Madison and sometimes Angus like them pretty well). These are hard and crunchy and meant to improve dental health.
Petstages Glow Snail – Retail Value $4.99
This apparently glows in the dark? Anyway, this little guy is pretty cute and has some interesting textures (something my cats are into at the moment). (This is a catnip plush in case anyone was wondering.)
Matatabi Twig Toys from Catware (8 count) – Retail Value $3.99
I have never seen these before. These are sun-dried twigs from a plant that is a natural feline attractant that is supposed to be more potent than catnip. Only Angus would bite them, but every single cat paused for an extra long time to sniff, so that’s something.
Ourpets Spray Spritz Catnip Spray (8 fl oz) – Retail Value $5.56
Sadly, this arrived completely empty. In addition to the aforementioned rain, the cap had come loose and this was all over the inside of the box. (And I wondered why every single cat stopped to sniff the box as it was drying out.) On the plus side, it coated the toys and the treats stayed dry in their package. I did not try to get a replacement as I was able to assess the effectiveness based on my cats’ reaction to the spill (and also because I have like five other bottles of catnip spray right now so I don’t really need more).
Jackson Galaxy Mixed Twisted Kicker – Retail Value $7.99 (found here for $6.79)
This item was absolutely doused with the spilled catnip spray and it made Monkey’s day (photos to follow, of course). I was just happy to see Monkey actually playing with something as he hasn’t done much of that lately.
Gratuitous cat photos:
CHOMP, part one.
CHOMP, part two.
Madison eats a treat.
Madison sniffs one of the twigs. He spent a long time inspecting this.
Monkey is skeptical of the stick.
But he loved the kicker. This is one of those times I wish I could’ve taken video.
Sneaky is only here for the food.
Although she also liked sniffing the twig.
Mr. Kitty sniffed the stick a lot.
Now he is just annoyed with me for interrupting his nap.
Verdict: I calculated a value of $26.52 for the May Cuddle Crate for cats subscription box. That is a few dollars below the cost of the box. You can get a little better deal by signing up for a longer subscription, of course, and the mixed-pet subscription options may have a little more value as well. I ended up being happy with the box, though, because my cats enjoyed everything and no item was completely ignored.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will receive the June box. Also, there is some customization involved, especially for the multi-pet boxes, so there may be some variation even among May boxes.
