D.L. & Co. is a candle company that recently launched two quarterly candle subscriptions. (You might have seen their candles in Box of Style and Breo Box.) This is the review of their $50.15 a season, MA Box.

This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out our review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

The Subscription Box: D.L. & Co. Modern Alchemy Box

The Cost: $50.15 a box (Or $59 for a one-time box

LIMITED TIME DEAL: Now through May 13th, use coupon code BOX10 to save 10% off of one-time box purchases!

The Products: A collection of candles, home fragrance, and other home goods.

Ships to: U.S. only

Ambered Vanilla and Cotton Candle - Retail Value $35

This 12-ounce candle has 2 wicks and a burn time of 70 hours. The lid is metal, and the vessel is glass with a beautiful screened print. (The stick label is removable, so you can reuse this once you are done with the candle.)

I'm digging the beachy vibes of this print, and the light and clean scent is lovely, too.

Dipped Ceramic Hibiscus and Coral Candle - Retail Value $25

More beautiful vessels! How gorgeous is this dipped ceramic? It's an 8-ounce candle, with a 40 hour burn time. The scent is fruity with notes of Apple, Strawberry, and hints of Lily.

Pink Peony Candle - Retail Value $25

This candle is 9-ounces with a 50 hour burn time.

The scent is a perfect replica of a bouquet of peonies, but just FYI, the scent isn't as strong as the other candles.

Gardenia Slate Mason Jar Candle - Retail Value $35

This candle is 12-ounces with a burn time of 70 hours.

The floral Gardenia scent is strong and feels perfect for spring - I really love every single scent in this box!

Pineapple Journal - Retail Value $20

This journal features a glitter pineapple on the cover, and lined pages inside:

I love that D.L. & Co. includes non-candle home items in their boxes - and they don't feel like filler, either. This is a quality notebook!

Verdict: This box has a retail value of $140! I think that's amazing for a candle and home goods box that cost $50.15! Everything in this box is impressive, too - the packaging and scents are all stunning, and this could be a great box to gift, or to split up into multiple gifts. If you like floral and fruit inspired scents, I think you'll love the selections this season, too.

If you are looking for a Mother's Day gift - this would be perfect!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! (You can also buy this as a one time purchase for $59.)

(FYI - coupons do not work on their subscriptions.)

Here is something to consider.. their candles are on Gilt for a substantial discount. Plus you can use the 20% initial discount or $25 off a $75 purchase and pick your own candles. I came up with a $155 value for $65 including shipping and tax.. not bad and I have the colors and scents I actually want!

This is my third box of an annual subscription and I am loving it! The fall and winter boxes were great to pick and choose what I wanted to keep for myself and gift everything else. I still have a couple of holiday-ish candles in my stash for next year. From this box, I kept all the candles. The only one I haven’t lit yet is the coral one, I love the other 3 and had the mason jar one burning for a couple hours this morning. I gifted the journal along with some other items as a thank you for a friend who fed our pets while we traveled. I have mixed feelings about the next box, which includes a single pattern/fragrance (palm print and Brazilian guava, I think) and a pillow cover (Yay!). But I’m sure I’ll use or gift all of the items, and I’m sure I’ll renew my sub for fall!

Great box for $50. I had an overabundance of candles due to regular subs and my Next by Nest sub. I cancelled Next and have been burning candles almost every day. I’m down to votives. Once they are gone I think I am going to get this one. Are they strong like Nest candles?

Anyone else have problems with burning the coral ceramic candle? Mine burned unevenly but I was able to scrape the wax off the sides once it burned enough to soften it so I thought I would be able to salvage…but now the wick keeps extinguishing itself. I also don’t notice much of a smell from it (but I know some people don’t seem to smell certain scents as strong as others for some reason). Anyways, I’m still not all that disappointed because that vessel is definitely going to be repurposed for a succulent and I think overall the value of this box is still good.

I need this. I need this. I need this. I need this. I need this. I need this. I need this. I need this. I need this. I need this. Do I have the extra $50 though…..? I think I need to back off of makeup spending to get this. Candles are quickly becoming such a love of mine, right next to makeup!

Very tempting. Any coupons for first timers?

Oh wait. There’s actually a code on the website for 30% off “certain styles” WELOVEMOM for the next few days. When you click on the code it takes you to a page where it lists (I assume) what is included in the deal and this box and the DL box volume 10 is included! That’s worth a try too….

I don’t see anywhere to put in a coupon code!! Can u help???

LB

I signed up for an annual using a website-wide code around Christmas that actually applied to subs too. I’m not 100% certain it would still work but it looks like if you go to the site and sign up for the mailing list they will send you a 20% off code. That MIGHT work for the subs too (if you’re lucky and they haven’t “fixed” it…lol). Worth a try I guess…

Well, I have searched hi and low and can’t find a discount code. I do like this box. I just can’t stand not having a first box discount code. Lol!

I’m with you…tempting, but a code would seal the deal!
