NatureBox May 2018 Review
Teriyaki Beef Jerky, 3 oz. - Retail Value $6.99/Member Price $5.99
This is my first NatureBox experience and before I even got the chance to dig into the snacks, I was already so impressed by the experience! I love the packaging and immediately noticed that most of them are re-sealable. Crucial! I'm not usually a big jerky eater, but this stuff smelled so good that I just had to give it a try. It was made with 100% grass-fed beef, and the teriyaki sauce is made with pineapple, garlic, and ginger. The teriyaki flavoring made it a bit sweeter than I would prefer, but it also had a hint of spice to it, so its flavor was balanced out nicely in the end.
Cinnamon Twists, 4.5 oz. - Buy a 2-pack for $11.99/Member Price $9.99
I knew I was going to love these the moment I laid eyes on them, and boy was I right! They're like a way better, way healthier version of those Taco Bell cinnamon twists, which I haven't eaten or thought about in probably a decade haha. Their flavor is buttery and cinnamon-y without being overly sweet and their consistency is gloriously crunchy. I was surprised to see Monterey Jack cheese on the ingredients list (I didn't detect a cheesy taste at all), but whatever it's doing in there, it's working! I can't get enough of these twists.
Mocha Almonds, 4 oz. - Buy a 2-pack for $8.99
I have such a complex relationship with almonds...they're such a good, filling snack that's high in healthy fat, but they can be so boring to reach for when that 3:00 hunger pang strikes. But, cover them in chocolate and all is forgiven! Add coffee to the mix? Done. There is 5g of sugar per 1/4 cup serving, which actually seems pretty low to me given how generous the chocolate flavoring looks and tastes. This ain't no skimpy dusting, they're actually coated. So good!
Big Island Pineapple, 4.5 oz. - Buy a 2-pack for $11.99/Member Price $7.99
Okay, so similar to the beef jerky, I'm not typically a dried fruit person, but these dehydrated pineapple slices just looked and smelled way too good to pass up. They were a little tough to bite into and chewy to chomp down on—both reasons why I'm not usually keen on dried fruit—but the flavor was just so, so delish. I think that for the remainder of the rings in this bag, instead of just biting into them, I'll chop them up with a knife and add the smaller pieces to my oatmeal or yogurt.
Bonus: Vanilla Bean Wafers, Single Serve 1 oz. x 2 - Retail Value $1.29/Member Price $0.99
These single-serve packs of vanilla bean cookies were such a pleasant surprise! They totally nod to that classic Nilla Wafer cookie that was a staple throughout my childhood but with a matured flavor. They're thin and crunchy, and a bit crumbly. I planned on just tasting one or two and taping the bag up to finish later (the single serve packs aren't resealable), but I ended up just eating them all because they were so light and went down so easily. I wouldn't mind receiving a full-size portion of these cookies down the line!
Verdict: NatureBox is officially a new favorite subscription box. I'm a fan of how simple and healthy the snacks are, and that they come in high-quality packaging that can be closed up and saved for later. My favorite was the cinnamon twists, but I loved them all! This month I received four full-size snacks and two single-serve ones. I'm going camping this weekend and plan on bringing all of them along!
