SinglesSwag May 2018 Review

Each box comes with an information card listing the items included in the box as well as an encouraging monthly quote.

dr botanicals Moroccan Rose Superfood Facial Oil-

dr botanicals Moroccan Rose Superfood Facial Oil1.01oz - Retail Value $52.33 USD (£39), Listed Value $45

This facial oil’s main ingredients are almond oil and Vitamins C, and A, to nourish, renew, and moisturize my skin. This facial oil is for dry, normal, or oily skin. I applied three drops of oil onto my cleansed skin, after looking at the directions online which differed from the box it suggests to dispense three drops of face oil onto my fingertips rub fingertips lightly together and gently press oil onto my cheeks, forehead and my chin. The oil quickly absorbs into my skin, and there was no greasy residue. My skin looked refreshed and moisturized.

Silicone Makeup Applicator- Original-

Silicone Makeup Applicator - Original - Retail Value $20.00

I have received the silicone applicator before, and I’m not a fan, the texture of the applicator and the shape is not my favorite, plus I’m so used to the beauty blender. I need to give it another try. The silicone drop-shaped applicator is non-toxic, cruelty-free, and hypoallergenic. It intends to give a flawless application with liquid/cream makeup and skincare products. I used the silicone applicator to apply the facial oil and the light-activated glow drops. The application was tricky since I’m not accustomed to using. I applied a few drops of the glow drops and the facial oil onto the applicator and blended into my skin. A suggested tip is to throw in the freezer for a de-puffing skincare ritual. There are how-to-videos found here.

“I Don’t Give A Flock” Crew Socks - Retail Value $8.00

I love when subscription boxes send socks, and the styles are always fun and quirky. I received a pair of turquoise crew socks inscribed with “I Don’t Give A Flock” and flamingo prints. I love the wording with the flamingos; I will enjoy rocking these socks. The crew socks are 60% cotton, 37% polyester, and 3% spandex. The socks fit well, and the texture is lightweight and will keep my feet warm. The sock size is 9-11, and the shoe size is 4-10.

Chocolate Chip Cookies

Chocolate Chip Cookies - Listed Value $4.00 (buy a 16oz bag for $16.95)

These chocolate chip cookies were semi-sweet, in my opinion, quite dry, with a  lingering chocolate aftertaste. Not the best chocolate chip cookies but they may taste better to other subscribers. This subscription box sends a food item each month, and it typically is a sweet treat, this month was not my favorite.

Samantha Faye Arrowhead Necklace - Listed Value $68.00

SinglesSwag has become my accessory stylist with an assortment of jewelry pieces I have received monthly. This month’s item is an arrowhead sterling silver necklace with an 18” long chain with a 2” extender. I’m not a fan of this particular jewelry piece and would like to receive a broader range of jewelry pieces, not the standard gold and silver chain necklace along with the gold and silver bangle bracelet they have sent. I didn’t find this particular necklace on their website, and the price is from this month’s info card.

KeraColor Purify Plus, 7oz - Retail Value $20.00

This leave-in conditioner is suited for medium to coarse hair, locks in color, seals in shine, smooths and detangles hair as well as, combats frizz. This product is not intended for my hairstyle so; I will pass on to a friend.

From KeraColor Hair:

Chlorine and trace minerals steal hair’s hydration, vibrancy, shine, and softness. Infused with our Krystal Water Complex, our Purify Plus Leave-In Conditioning Treatment neutralizes everyday tap water and levels the playing field. -Sulfate, Paraben, & Cruelty-Free.

StarDrops Light-Activated Glow Drops, 0.20fl.oz. - Retail Value $34.00

This light-activated glow drops gave me a beautiful glow, and I loved it. I mixed the facial oil I received in this months box with the glow drops, and the results were amazing. The glow drops are suited for all skin types and tones, use as alone or mix with your foundation or facial creams or oils. The dropper to dispense the product didn’t seem to work, and it was messy getting the product onto the silicone applicator, not sure if the dropper malfunctioned.

From Jelly Pong Pong:

Formulated with Starfruit Extract and Golden Argan Oil to help provide long-lasting hydration and a boost of solar radiance.

  • Vegan

  • With Starfruit Extract and Argan Oil

  • No Mineral Oil

  • No Parabens

  • No Phthalates

  • Hypoallergenic

  • Non-Comedogenic

Here I swatched the light-activated glow drops.

Verdict: The May SinglesSwag box was thoughtfully curated and gave me that needed glow. The last few boxes have been heavy on beauty products, and I have received two pairs of socks so far, and the only change was a book in the February box. This box needs more lifestyle items such as the coloring book and pencil set in the January box which was a nice departure from their standard beauty and jewelry pieces. This subscription delivers on their promise to send full-sized, hand-selected products that have included organic beauty, fashion accessories, delicious snacks and treats, and other surprises, but they haven’t delivered on sending best-selling books on a regular basis which subscribers have mentioned loving. This month’s box has a value of $206.33.

After receiving the newest swag box I was a bit disconcerted when I seen the postcard stating the elephant necklace was $82, the actual site has it valued at $58. If it’s that easy for a customer to check why not just be honest.

I was completely disappointed on my first box I am giving it another chance if it is still the same I’m cancelling

I don’t know how they get away with calling the retail value of that facial oil more than $50 per bottle when Costco sells a 2-pack for $23. That’s not a sale price, either, just the regular price. I know there are always going to be some discrepancies, but there should not be a 600% increase in “value”!

Why is it that they feel single women need a pair of socks in almost every damn box?! And yes, that necklace was complete crap, mine fell off while I was wearing it and I have no clue where it went. Don’t waste your money on this box.

I got this box and I was pretty disappointed in it. The necklace was a total rip-off. No way this was worth $68. I’m also not convinced it’s actually sterling silver. It isn’t stamped .925 like most silver necklaces are and it feels really flimsy.

I always LOL at the RV of the jewelry. So ridiculous. I don’t pay full price for this sub but if I did I would be seriously annoyed.

The spray conditioner is awesome though.

I haven’t tried that yet. Glad to hear it is good!

Review is right on target. Too much beauty and jewelry. If they’d switch it up a little I might subscribe.

Why was the same facial oil listed with an RV of $29.25 in the January Glossybox review?

I have received both the face oil and Makeupdrop in Glossybox. This oil is such a wonderful product! It’s very light, non-greasy, gets absorbed very quickly and is perfect for layering. My all-time favourite oil are Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Capsules and this oil is a tie. As for this silicone applicator – I don’t care for it, as I am happy with my brushes.

I wore the necklace the day after I got my box, and it literally fell off my neck as I was standing in front of a class teaching. I didn’t snag it, I wasn’t even moving! Buyer beware, I’m not wearing this one again until I’ve shored up the clasp. It’s pretty, but definitely not worth $68!

Wow, sorry to hear that! I haven’t worn mine just tried it on for the review and was going to gift to a friend, maybe not wouldn’t want it to fall off their neck.
Hopefully you can get the clasp to work.
