SnackSack Classic April 2018 Review
SnackSack includes a card that notes all of the products that are within the box, along with how to find them online.
Every first-time customer receives a tote (sack), which is meant to hold your snacks. It's a cute, on-theme concept, and it will be put to good use as a grocery bag for me.
Bob's Red Mill Pineapple Coconut Oatmeal, 2.34 oz — Retail Value $2.79
Ah, oatmeal. I used to find it so "blah," but now I turn to it as a snack during my workday several times per week. I like to fill it up with fruit, nuts, and sometimes even toss a few chocolate chips in there to keep things exciting. This single-serve oatmeal has a pineapple coconut flavor, which is such a fun change from the usual flavors you find in oatmeal!
Bakery on Main Cranberry Almond Maple Gluten-Free Granola, 1.1 oz — Retail Value $1.29
This "granola" is pretty cereal-y, to the point that as I was eating it, I wished I had milk on hand. I did find it to be a bit too sweet for my taste, so maybe that's part of it. Much as I love a throwback childhood cereal, I'm more of a savory kind of gal nowadays.
Jana Banana Original Banana Bar with Peanut Butter, 1.34 oz. – Buy 12 bars for $13.90
Everything from the packaging to the look to the taste of this snack bar is appealing to me! I noticed that some reviewers online say they didn’t like that this bar tasted like overripe bananas, and honestly, they have a fair point, I just so happen to like that flavor. Mixed with peanut butter, this bar is delish! With only 4g of protein to 15g of sugar, this really isn’t a protein bar (it doesn’t claim to be, though), but it also seems to be wayyyy better for you than many other similar bars. I might not buy this for myself since I typically look for a higher protein content in my snacks, but I wouldn’t mind receiving it again in a future box!
Hippeas White Cheddar Chickpea Puffs, 1 oz — Buy 12 for $34.09
Oh my gosh I love how crunchy these puffs are! They're a little more dense than your average puff (and also have 4g of protein), which makes them that much more satisfying to me. The white cheddar flavor is faint, but this snack still does leave some dusty stuff on your fingers after eating. Hey, at least it's not orange!
Pop Zero Guilt-Free Cinema Popcorn, 1.3 oz — Buy 2 6 oz. bags for $12.99
If you're craving classic, basic popcorn, here it is! For me, the best part about movie theater popcorn is the cringe-worthy amounts of "butter" they pump over the stuff, but for someone who's looking to have a more wholesome snacking cinema experience, this popcorn is perfect. There's a decent amount in the bag, too!
Angie's BOOMCHICKAPOP Sweet & Salty Kettle Corn, 1 oz — Buy a 14 oz. bag for $4.59
And now for the indulgent kind of popcorn! This kettle corn doesn't skimp on the caramelized pieces, but that's what makes it so delicious! I ate this on an afternoon in the office for a little pick-me-up. The gal sitting next to me quietly put her headphones on...I was going to town. It was that good.
Country Archer Jerky Co Original Beef Jerky Beef Jerky, 1.5 oz — Retail Value $3.00
I'm not much of a jerky-eater, but my husband is and he ate both servings of this pouch in one sitting after a workout. He reported that it's a little softer and chewier than he's used to, but the flavor was pretty classic. He dug it!
Health Warrior Superfoods Apple Cinnamon Chia Bar, 0.88 oz — Buy 15 bars for $15.99
I am so into chia bars lately. They add such a good, interesting texture to an otherwise average protein bar. This bar was small, which was fine because of how flavorful it turned out to be. I wish it had more protein in it, but it still held me over—I ate it while walking my dog in the morning, before breakfast, and it worked well for that.
Pretzel Pete Cheese Pizza Mini Twists — Buy 8 3.5 oz. bags for $20.00
Pretzels are my ultimate snack (don't tell the other snacks)! I'm always game for a classic pretzel, but I thoroughly enjoyed this cheesy flavored kind. This is another one that gets your fingers a little messy, so not the best for a desk snack, but very satisfyingly salty.
Sheila G's Brownie Brittle Chocolate Chip Brownie Brittle — Buy a 5 oz bag for $4.15
I had low expectations for this treat because I love brownies, but the chewy softness is just as important as the rich chocolatey-ness to me. A "brittle" brownie just didn't seem right. I also don't love peanut brittle, that shiny, shattery stuff you find at carnivals and stuff. But now that I've tasted this snack, I take my misgivings back! Think of it more as a chocolate cookie and you'll be very pleased with what you bite into. I wish the bag were bigger!
P-nuff Crunch Baked Peanut Puffs, 1 oz — Buy 12 bags for $23.88
I recently tried a different brand of peanut butter puffs in my SnackSack Vegan box from March and as a peanut butter lover, I wasn't too impressed. They were just kind of bland and "blah." These are pretty much the same. They're fine, but not amazing. And, for a snack that touts being full of protein, they only have 5g! I guess there's only so much you can ask of puffs. 🙂
Verdict: As always, I had so much fun exploring the variety of snacks in my SnackSack! Not only did they include a variety of snacks with an interesting twist to them (even if I didn't love them, I still enjoyed trying them), but they also mixed it up nicely with sweet and savory offerings. I love that each and every one of the treats included is non-GMO, gluten-free, vegan, or organic—or all of the above!—so I can munch without guilt, and enjoy some of my favorite flavors in a more healthy way.
