Sticky Kit May 2018 Review
Kokuyo Silicon Ribbon Band - Buy 7 for $13.49
Usually included in this subscription is a small card thanking subscribers and directing them to the Sticky Kit website. I didn't receive one this month, but I'll still direct you all to their website—the Sticky Kit shop usually has past kits available for purchase, and occasionally they have products from the current month's subscriptions for sale. Sticky Kit includes a bonus non-tape item in their washi tape kits and this time it was the cutest little silicone bow to use as decoration for a gift or anything else you like! I popped it on a candle I have in my home for you all to see it in action, but I think I might ultimately use it to snazz up a present for someone!
Maruai "Thank You" Washi Tape - Retail Value $3.94
I was so tickled to find this roll is like the tape version of the silicone ribbon I received! It's a wide, white tape with red bows on it, and it says "thank you" in cursive. At first, I was thinking the "thank you" would limit what I could use this tape for, but then I realized that pretty much any note I leave around the house (which is a frequent use of washi tape for me) is deserving of a little extra gratitude.
It just so happened that I was leaving for a weekend trip right after this month's kit arrived, and I asked the gal who was checking in on our dog to also water my houseplants for me. I rearranged them so that plants in need of daily watering were on one windowsill and my succulents, which I only water once per week, were positioned on the other side of the window frame. Just to be extra clear, I left a note saying "water these!' and "not these!" to make it easier for her. This tape was perfect for a note like that.
Roundtop x Spacecraft "Flower" Washi Tape - Estimated Value $4.75 (Buy a similar tape here)
It's hard to go wrong with a cute floral washi tape. I really like the illustrative vibe of this one, as well as the bold red, white, and blue tones. It's pretty without being too overly feminine!
Classiky x ShunShun "Rain" Washi Tape - Retail Value $4.50
I'm so captivated by this tape's design! Atop its white background is a blue gradient of lines and dots. It reminds me of the music used in player pianos! It has a very digital engineered vibe to it and lends itself to use for decorating borders of scrapbooks and packages and things due to how long a piece you need to use to get the full benefit of its design.
Speaking of sheet music, my husband asked me to print out a new piece for him to learn on piano, and I accidentally kind of crunched it in transport, so he was having a hard time getting it to stay up on the music rest. So, I taped it up! This wouldn't make sense if he were to play the song through, but since he's been learning this piece bar by bar, it was a great practice solution.
Classiky x Tomomi Irago "Beasts" Washi Tape - Retail Value $2.92
I have declared this in Sticky Kit Washi Tape reviews before, but I love animals and I generally love every item that has them depicted on it! The plump sheep, llamas, elephants, fish, and butterflies illustrated on this roll are soooo cuuuute! If you click the link I provided to purchase this roll, you'll see even more animals on the tape, but sadly mine isn't very well aligned so I got a lot of half-animals. Still, so adorable. I'm expecting a baby this late summer/early fall and have chosen an animal theme for the nursery, so I'm trying to think of uses for this tape in there. I'm open to ideas if anyone has any!
The Verdict: I'm so happy with this month's Sticky Kit Washi Tape variety! It's a good mix of simple, easy-to-use patterns (like the floral roll), intriguing artistic ones (like the blue and white gradient one), and other fun novelties. This subscription costs $16.99 and the contents added up to an estimated $16.11. That's the closest value I've encountered so far with this box, which is great! But, even when it doesn't quite balance out, I still love being surprised by what I receive each month.
