The PMS Package April 2018 Review

I was really excited to receive The PMS Package - it’s the first subscription box I’ve tried that’s geared toward making women feel better during their period. The first thing I noticed was that mine did not include any tampons or medication that I’ve seen in previous reviews. It was extra disappointing because I was running out of tampons within the next 24 hours. Regardless, I was excited to dive into the other products in the package!

California Mango Body Wash, 9oz

California Mango Body Wash, 9oz - Retail Value $9.50 (found here for $5.95)

The first item that caught my eye was the big, brightly colored bottle of mango body wash. It contains extracts of mango, acai, goji, and pomegranate and is silky smooth. The scent is not overpowering but it definitely leaves your skin with a fresh, fruity aroma. When I put this on my loofa, I noticed the gel had a tint of shimmer to it and was a little nervous my skin was going to glow like a 2010 pop star. In hindsight, that should have been an exciting moment for me. Who doesn’t want to look like a superstar?! Regardless, it didn’t end up leaving any shiny residue but my skin was left feeling moisturized and soft.

Cala Collagen Make-up Remover Cleansing Tissues, 30 count

Cala Collagen Make-up Remover Cleansing Tissues, 30 count - Retail Value $6.29

I’ve tried a handful of different make-up removing products and have to say these are one of the better ones. Typically when a skin-tightening facial product, I find the overpowering aroma to outweigh any benefit. This was not the case with the Cala wipes. The scent was incredibly mild and it did a great job of removing my leftover eyeliner and mascara without leaving black streaks on my face. My favorite part: it didn’t leave my skin feeling like I had to soak it in a pound of moisturizer. This is a nice, gentle product for anyone who has sensitive skin.

Cala Premium Gold Hydrogel Mask, 1 sheet - Estimated Value $10.50 (buy 3 sheets for $31.50, found here for $24.95)

This mask is pure gold - literally. It won’t make you rich, but you will feel amazing after using it. I’ve been having some skin sensitivity recently, but I decided to try this one on for size. After removing the film on the mask itself, it took a minute to maneuver this into the right position on my face. The scent is very relaxing and mild. I left it on for the recommended 25 minutes and rubbed the excess liquid into my skin. After letting my face dry, my face felt incredibly soft and smooth. I was really worried about irritating the dry patches I’ve had around my nose and chin, but this actually helped them not appear as red! Anyone who has sensitive skin should be in the clear using this product, and I hope you enjoy the results as much as I did.

Peripeti Candles Bamboo Linen Room Spray, 4oz - Retail Value $5

I adore this item! The liquid is milky, so I was a little thrown off at first. I thought it might not mist in the way typical room sprays do, but I was totally off base. This heavenly little bottle will leave your home smelling like a page out of a Pottery Barn magazine. It smells like you’ve been burning a clean, rainforest candle for hours and leave no residue on the surfaces. I’ve used it on my couches, curtains, and even a quick spritz on my coat. Awesome product!

Now, onto the sweet treats!

Awake Milk Chocolate Bar - Estimated Value $1 (buy 12 bars for $19.99)

Awake Caramel Chocolate Bar - Estimated Value $1 (buy 12 bars for $19.99)

The Awake Chocolate Bars are a great combination of caffeine and sugar. One chocolate bar is equal to one cup of coffee. I think we’ve all had those moments when we need an extra pick-me-up but aren’t in the mood for coffee. For me, this hits at 3pm every single day when I’m at work. I stashed this away to test it when I was at my weakest moment - and THANK GOODNESS, it worked! I was really surprised that it didn’t have any type of coffee flavor. I’m definitely a bigger fan of the caramel flavor versus the milk chocolate version, but they’re both really tasty. These are a nice mid-afternoon treat.

Million Dollar Bar Dark Chocolate

Million Dollar Bar Dark Chocolate - Estimated Value $1.50 (buy 12 bars for $17.95)

I love that this month’s box gives you a second option If you’re really craving chocolate but can’t afford any additional caffeine; you know, like, 9pm on a Tuesday night while you’re wallowing in pain with cramps. For it being a dark chocolate, I was surprised by how creamy it was and that it didn’t even hint at being bitter. This was a nice surprise!

Mrs. Fields White Chunk Macadamia, 1 cookie - Estimated Value $1.50 (buy 16 cookies for $14.80)

I’m a big fan of soft, chewy cookies, so I was pretty excited to see a Mrs. Fields cookie in my box. I also love cookies with nuts in them, but I’ve never really been a fan of white chocolate. As you can see, this was going to be a roll of the dice to whether I liked it or not. Unfortunately for me, there were way too many chunks of white chocolate and not enough macadamia nuts. I’m not going to say that I didn’t finish it, BUT I would have changed around the ingredient ratios a bit. You know, 0 white chocolate chunks and 10x more macadamia nuts. All in all, it really wasn’t bad and I wasn’t mad about it. If I’m really being honest, I’d tell you that if it showed up next month, I’d still end up eating it again.

Sweetarts Mini Chewy Candy, 3.5oz - Estimated Value $1 (buy 12 boxes for $12)

This candy is perfect for anyone who prefers sugary candy over chocolate, like me. These little sugary Sweetarts come in the movie-size candy box and fit right in your bag. They might make your face squint at first, but the sweetness quickly kicks in and mellows out the overall flavor. I really love that they are chewy and so tiny. It’ll give you an excellent sugar rush without needing to finish the whole box in one sitting. If that’s what you’re into though, go for it!

Birthday Cake Cookie Dough Bites, 3.5oz - Estimated Value $3.50 (buy 2 boxes for $6.97)

One thing a lot of people find weird about me is that I hate anything that has birthday cake or cookie dough flavoring. This includes ice cream and snacks of all kinds, so I didn’t bother trying these. Luckily my wife is a big fan of this flavor. She absolutely loved these treats. She said they tasted just as you would imagine - cookie dough vanilla cake balls. They have such a sweet flavor and they’re perfect for anyone who isn’t a big fan of chocolate but loves cake.

The Verdict: The PMS Package is a really awesome box of goodies. As I’d mentioned before, I was expecting to receive some sort of feminine hygiene products, but they definitely made up for the omission with some other really awesome products. I like the focus on self-care and pampering with a handful of premium skin and bath products, as well as the addition of the room spray. Just add a blanket and you’re set for the evening! The snacks and candy included in the box give everyone a little something depending on what they prefer. With a wide variety of products, this box is practical, fun, and soothing. The value of this box far exceeded my expectations. You get over an estimated $40 worth of products for $34.99 delivered precisely at the time that you begin your cycle. I say go for it - this is a fantastic subscription!

I was first introduced to subscription boxes when I bumped into Bluum for my little one but quickly discovered new favorites like Hello Fresh and Scentbird. I love boxes that add a fun twist to the normal day-to-day activities and anything I can share with my family.

Yikes, those Awake bars look like they’ve been through some stuff. I love those bars (even gave them out as Christmas gifts to my coworkers one year), but I’ve never seen one look like that!

Hmm.. I feel like they went to the Dollar Tree/Marshalls and got a bunch of stuff.

Yeah I don’t understand these glowing reviews from a box of random junk I can get at dollar general for like $10.00. $35 for $40 worth of stuff I may not like is not a deal.

Have you ever read about this box ? it really was started by teenage boys. I’ve always thought the curation seemed like items my teen son would get for someone having their cycle so it makes sense from that perspective.

Explanation of why they’d forget to include pads or tampons refer to first point.
