The Stationery Selection April 2018 Review
Sometimes you'll get a business card from The Stationery Selection displaying their contact info.
You'll then find an info sheet (on beautiful handmade looking paper) listing out everything in this month's box.
Chamil Garden Stamp in Cafe - Retail Value $6.90
It's hard to decipher what exactly this stamp is, but this design is called "cafe" and is illustrated by Taiwanese artist Chamil Garden. Their other stamps seem to be quite abstract, so this one gives me the same vibe with a deconstructed cafe within a cityscape. At any rate- I find it pretty cool and can use it to decorate the outside of packages or boring stationery.
Versafine Ink Pad in Smokey Gray - Retail Value $2.79 (found here for $2.59)
I'm glad they included this ink pad to go along with the stamp because that doesn't always happen with some sub boxes. Smokey Gray is just one step lighter than black and has a nice washed tone to it. The pad itself is pretty small but seemed jussssst large enough for the included stamp. It'll be great to use with other petite rubber stamps I have as well.
Here is the stamp and ink pad in action.
Classicky x Toraneko Bon Bon Notecards, Set of 20 - Retail Value $5.50
Each of these cute little notecards is about 2.5" x 3.5" and features one of two designs. One has a yellow bird with a red rose with an accompanying orange in the top right corner and the other has an adorable turtle wearing a TOP HAT that has an unidentified plant in the top left corner. The notecards are a heavier stock with a natural texture to them. The back of each is blank so these are perfect to use as a gift tag or to jot down a little note for someone. I am really loving these illustrations by Taraneko Bon Bon and will now be following them on Instagram!
Midori MD Cotton Notebook - Retail Value $11.50
Is this notebook not gorgeous? I love its simplicity and its soft 20% cotton pulp pages! I am such a sucker for notebooks- I have way too many to use but can't stop collecting them anyhow. Midori always makes quality products and this 4 x 6" notebook is no exception. It also has a thin glossy cover, attached cloth bookmarker, and stickers to label it. It's the perfect size to pop into your bag so you always have something to jot down notes, thoughts, and lists. So dreamy!
Nihongo Flashcards Cafe Mini Letter Pad
This long slender notepad if full of pages that teach you four different cafe items while leaving space to write. Each of the four items has five pages each that have an illustration on one side and a description on the back that shows the Japanese name, the name in English, and a little bit about it. For instance, the first one is a Melon Soda Float (or kurimusoda) which is a "sugary neon-green soft drink. It has a fruity flavor but doesn't contain melon at all.". Fancy that!
Sunny Sunday Collage Washi Tape - Retail Value $4.90
It wouldn't be a stationery box without some washi tape! This tape is a bit wider than the average and it features a "collage" vintage paper motif in muted browns and greys. This is super cute for wrapping packages in sine it looks like it has canceled postage marks on it in some places.
Uni Jetstream Pen in Khaki, 0.5mm - Estimated Retail Value $2.85 (linked to similar)
I looooove this pen. I own two or three other ones already in brighter colors, so it's nice to get this one with a muted khaki and black body. It has a 0.5mm tip which is my sweet spot and is filled with black ink that flows ever so gracefully. This color is apparently new so I'm having a hard time finding the exact one online which means its SPECIAL! 😛
Wafu-Seal Sakura Stickers
Springtime in Japan is all about Sakura, so it's not surprising to see these cherry blossom stickers in the box. In addition to the pale pink flowers, there are a few green birds in there as well, resting among them.
Verdict: Stationery Selection honestly didn't blow my mind this month in comparison to some of their past deliveries, but I still got a wealth of amazing stationery and office products, My favorites have to be the pen (duh) and cotton notebook. The stamp is unique and strange and the other stationery is hella cute!
