Theo Salted Almond Butter Cups, 1.3 oz – Retail Value $3.39
Dark Chocolate
I was head over heels for the Theo milk chocolate peanut butter cups that came in last month's Chococurb box, so you can imagine my delight when I spotted a similar package this month! While it's hard to beat a classic peanut butter cup (classic but better because they're organic, soy free, and palm free!), I'm a sucker for dark chocolate so these were just as good if not better in my book. The almond butter didn't have too distinct of a taste, just a slightly different consistency the way almond butter normally does. I have not one complaint. I loved every bite of these little heart-shaped chocolates!
Philip Marks Marbleized Chocolate Bar, 2.5 oz — Retail Value $10.00
88% Dark Chocolate & 36% White Chocolate
Dark chocolate and white chocolate—what a classy combo! This offering came as a duo of small bars with a marbleized swirl in each. As far as white chocolate goes, I like it but don't seek it out—but blended together with super-rich dark chocolate, it was pretty close to perfection. The outcome was something just sweet enough but still faintly bitter. I really loved this one.
Seattle Chocolates Milk Chocolate Trufflee Bar, 2.5 oz - Retail Value $4.50
Milk Chocolate
I'm loving the fun packaging of this milk chocolate bar! I think a high-quality bar makes for an awesome small gift, so I love the way they set you up for gift-giving with this design. I wasn't sure going into this one whether the "truffle" situation was going to be, like, the chocolate type of truffle or the mushroom type of truffle. Chococurb has given me some pretty unique flavors to try, so I wouldn't put it past them for it to be the latter! But, alas, it's a milk chocolate bar with that sought-after melty consistency of a truffle, infused with toffee bits and sea salt. The toffee and salt offer a little crunch that works really nicely with the melty milk chocolate. This is a real treat. And, from a women-owned business, yasss!
WM Chocolate Ghana, Rainforest Alliance Bar, 1 oz - Retail Value $6.00
75% Dark Chocolate
I'm always game to receive a classic dark chocolate bar in my Chococurb box, so this one spoke to me. It uses Rainforest Alliance cocoa and I recommend clicking the link under the photo to read up on the history and cause behind this bar. Flavor-wise, it's said to have notes of chocolate pudding, malt, peanut butter...I'm not sure I'm picking up on those subtleties, but I am loving every moment of its richness!
Chocolat Moderne NYC Street Nuts Bar, 3.5 oz - Retail Value $9.00
35% Milk Chocolate
Oh my gosh, who else is just endlessly tantalized by the scent of spiced nuts when they walk through NYC? I can't say I've ever actually purchased any, but the aroma is so evocative to me. This milk chocolate bar is fixed up with caramelized almonds, cashews, and peanuts that are seasoned with a little sea salt. Wowza. Once I bit in, I guess I must admit I like the concept better than the experience, but someone who's more of a milk chocolate lover as well as more of a nuts-in-chocolate lover than I (it's a consistency thing) might be super into this option.
The Verdict: It just hit me that this was my best Chococurb month yet. Holy smokes were its chocolate offerings a treat! This is the first month that I truly loved just about every bar. And, the one I didn't love (the one with the spiced nuts), I could at least appreciate for its originality and artistry. This month's chocolates add up to $32.89—a touch below the $33.00/month cost ($99.00 for a 3-month subscription), but still worth it to me for the excitement of exploring new flavors with great packaging.
