Fair Trade Friday is an organization that helps to empower women and battle poverty through dignified, sustainable industry (craftsmanship). They have three subscriptions to choose from that send fairly traded items from around the world: The Original Box, Bracelet of the Month, and Earrings of the Month. I have subscribed to the Earring of the Month box for years now, and I am really excited to have this opportunity to review the Original Box!

Fair Trade Friday Original Box June 2018 Review

fair trade friday june 2018 booklet fair trade friday june 2018 booklet 2

This booklet was included. It has information on all the contents of this month's package, plus information on the artisans who created them. It's really informative!

Print by Mercy House Global - Listed Retail Value $8

This print is really cute, and I appreciate both of the sentiments! It is dual sided, though, which makes me a little confused as to how to display it properly. To be honest, I'm not really into prints like this, it's just not my thing, but it appears to be pretty nice quality. Plus it's nice for summer!

fair trade friday june 2018 keychain

Lip Balm Holder Keychain, Rwanda, by No. 41 - Retail Value $7

This is actually my favorite new keychain, I love this! It's so pretty and festive! It's hand sewn from a vibrant printed cotton by an artisan in Rwanda. No. 41 is an organization in Rwanda that provides skills training and business development assistance to the country's most vulnerable women. This kind of organization is what makes me love Fair Trade Friday!

Lip Balm, Zambia, by Zambeezi - Buy a pack of 3 for $10.99

And to go in my new favorite keychain is my new favorite lip balm! This lip balm is truly excellent and has amazing moisturizing power! It's made of fair trade organic beeswax and oils, and it smells great, too! Zambeezi is the Zambia based manufacturer, and they make sure their products are environmentally sustainable. They also ensure their artisans are well treated and make a living wage, plus they reinvest profits back into their community. Excellent!

Clutch, Tanzania, by Neema|Crafts - Retail Value $16

What a festive pouch, I really like it! It's perfect for summer, plus it's big enough to hold all my toiletries while traveling. It's a nice sturdy cotton canvas, and it's really well made. Plus you know I love a fun tassel! Neema|Crafts is an organization in Tanzania that employs disabled persons and trains them to be self-sufficient.

Leather Sunglasses Case, Haiti, by Mission Lazarus - Retail Value $25

I am completely in love with this sunglasses case! It's made of super soft, REAL leather! It's so well made, and I love the style so much. It has raw edges on the flap, and the tie closure is super cool. Mission Lazarus provides fair wages in the poorest areas of Haiti and Honduras to young adults who benefit from their skill building program.

The Verdict: I am loving my subscription to Fair Trade Friday Original Box! I didn't totally love the print, but I absolutely adore everything else I received this month. This might be my favorite Fair Trade Friday package ever! I also like all of the information they provide to show how your subscription directly impacts the lives of others. It makes the subscription seem that much more special.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. In order to receive the box of the month, you must subscribe before the 24th of the previous month. You will receive the July box.

Value Breakdown: This box cost $33 shipped.  It included five items, so the average cost per item is $6.60 (which is AMAZING!).  The total suggested retail for the items is $59.66, which means the savings on this box is 45%!

I’ve never liked a tassel until I saw the pineapple bag. It’s a very nice piece.
