Godiva has entered the subscription game, and now you can get luscious chocolate treats delivered to you every month!

This subscription offers two different subscriptions: the Taste of Godiva and the Snack Lovers box. Each subscription comes in increments of 3, 6, and 12-month durations.

This review is for month two from the Snack Lovers subscription, which costs $65 for three months.

My chocolate came snuggly packed in bubble wrap surrounded by ice packs and an insulated bag! Unlike last month, my ice packs were still cold and the chocolate was in great condition.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Godiva Snack Lovers Subscription June 2018 Review

Before I show you the chocolate for this month, I would like to explain this subscription a bit more. There are four products included in the 3-month subscription. Month 1 sends you one pound of chocolate covered pretzels, month 2 sends you two specialty chocolate bars, and month 3 sends you a 6-piece dark chocolate truffle flight. The total cost for these items alone is $56, which is less than the $65 price for the three months. However, each month is shipped via UPS 2 Day delivery, which adds an extra $56.85 in shipping costs. This brings the total value of the subscription to $112.85.

The first month included a big pamphlet introducing the subscription and the products that would be included, so this month there was less paperwork. There is the included gift message envelope, a coupon, and a sheet detailing what to do if you need to contact Godiva Customer Service.

Godiva June 2018 review

Dark Decadence Truffle Flight, 6 pc – Retail Value $17

This six-piece truffle flight truly lives up to its name in terms of decadence. The first bite into each truffle had a satisfying crunch of the shell, and each filling matched perfectly with the description for the truffle. At one end you have a dark chocolate shell with a light and fluffy vanilla mousse, and at the other, you have an Aztec spice truffle which blends 72% cacao with cinnamon and chipotle. When I was finishing the Aztec spice there was a bit of heat that surprised my palate, and definitely made for a unique chocolate experience. My favorites were the vanilla mouse and the 50% dark chocolate, which tasted like a brownie (these are the two truffles I tried for the photos above). Also included was the chocolate soufflé truffle, which had a good balance of dark chocolate and a whipped interior, the chocolate lava cake, which had a creamy and thick liquid chocolate once you cracked the shell, and 72% extra dark chocolate, which walks the fine line of being savory while still having a hint of sweetness. I think anyone that enjoys dark chocolate would appreciate the flavor nuances featured in this truffle flight.

The Verdict: I thought this truffle flight was a great way to end my 3-month chocolate subscription. I enjoyed experiencing the different nuances featured throughout the various truffles, and since this is dark chocolate it isn’t as sweet as some other chocolates can be. I am also very happy my chocolate was in great condition when delivered this month, which is important when this subscription would be a good gift for others.

To Wrap Up:

Can you get this box if you sign up today? Yes, the first month of any Snack Lovers subscription starts with a tin of chocolate covered pretzels, the second month, you will get chocolate bars, and in the third month you will get this truffle flight!

Value Breakdown: The $65 cost for 3 months breaks down to $21.67 a month, and I received $17 worth of Godiva chocolate bars shipped UPS 2 day, which would be an additional $17.95 if I didn’t purchase this subscription.

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

Ok, reading about the subscription, truffles look good, and I’m looking for the rest of the review….but there is none! That’s all you got?! Hardly seems worth the mailer.

I don’t think this is a good value at all. They sell Godiva on Amazon and many of them are Prime with free 2 day shipping. This ranks right up there with the Oreo Cookie Club! hahahahahahahahaha!!!

I love Godiva but there doesn’t seem to be any value or benefit to being a box subscriber. In short, this box has no appeal. Maybe if a Godiva store or a TJ Maxx isn’t accessible to purchase their goods? The products aren’t unique. It’s a great review but this is right up there with the Oreo box as far as….why? At a minimum the product should comprise the value, not the shipping.

Nice review! This box wouldn’t work for me, but I appreciate seeing the details of it. Side note: There’s an error on the top of the review stating this is month 2, not 3. 🙂
