How to be a Redhead (H2BAR) is a monthly subscription box that was started by two redheaded sisters, Adrienne and Stephanie Vendetti. Their goal was to empower all redheads to feel confident in their looks by providing products that are “Redhead Friendly.” This means all items are free of heavy chemicals and complement red hair.
My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

How To Be A Redhead May 2018 Review
Included is this fantastic message (I totally co-sign on) regarding breaking fashion and beauty norms and standards from Adrienne, Stephanie, and the H2BAR team! Seriously, who came up with all these obnoxious rules? Live your best life and do you, my loves!
On the back of the card is a handy listing with information about the products and their values.
Included in this month’s box as well is a coupon code for 20% off and free shipping on all Virtue products! Awesome!
Skinn Cosmetics Bright Eye Enhancing Eyeliner - Retail Value $18
I have long heard of using white eyeliner on your waterline to make your eyes look bigger and have used that trick for years. It works, trust me. I would never have thought to use a pale peach shade for the same effect. I used it and it covered the pinky red in my waterline perfectly and gave me those Bette Davis eyes we all long for.
Luxe Waterproof Eyeliner in Navy Seal - Retail Value $12
I am not one for deep navy blues, especially for liners, but I am always willing to try new products and shades! This was waterproof but smudged easily on me. I don’t have much luck with pencils, but the application was smoother than most. I still prefer liquid liners over pencils because I find them to be easier to apply, far more precise, and way bolder in color and pigmentation.
Tarte Bronzer in Park Avenue Princess, .11oz Travel Size — Estimated Value $10.31 (buy a Full Size for $30)
It is funny this was included in this month’s H2BAR box because one of my bffs that is a makeup artist told me recently that this is his favorite bronzer! I have tried other Tarte products and have enjoyed them. I constantly am looking for different contour products. I generally prefer cream contour (my trusty Wet’n’Wild Cream stick is the real MVP!), but this is great to apply before or after setting powder if I need further definition. The shade is perfect for my skin tone. Some bronzers can look like dirt on me, but this is the perfect rich tan with hints of caramel for warmth. Thumbs up for sure!
Juice Organics Shampoo & Conditioner Packettes — Listed Value $5 (buy a Shampoo & Conditioner 10 fl oz. Bundle for $20)
I am always eager to try new shampoos and conditioners because my hair tends to get weighed down and greasy otherwise. I need to mix it up! I seek out sulfate free options as well to maintain my vibrant copper hair, otherwise, it is like throwing hair dye and money down the drain! This brand is fantastic! I was impressed with how silky my hair felt and how little dye I saw run off in the shower. I have hoarded my second sample for my upcoming trip and intend to buy the full-size bundle when I get home!
Virtue Labs Polish Unfrizz Cream, 2fl oz Travel Size — Retail Value $20
My hair gets incredibly frizzy in the humidity out in my neck of the woods, so I was beyond excited to try a product to tame these wild locks. This Virtue Product is no joke! I used this when I blow dried my hair before Pride. I was outside all day and my hair looked silky smooth the entirety of my celebrating. The real test will be when I go to our local amusement park in July, but so far I am impressed!
TapaReef Sunscreen Remover Wipes, 1 packet — Estimated Value $0.80, Listed Value $2 (buy 10 packets for $7.99)
Well, I never knew there was a need for a sunscreen remover? Plain water won’t remove sunscreen, but from my research, a cleanser will do just fine like Cetaphil, Cerave, or Philosophy. However, these TapaReef sheets are great for travel and when you are on the go! Sunscreen can be extremely oily and clog your pores, so this is a great product to use when leaving the pool. I used it after a swim hang out Saturday, and I am really pleased with how clean this sheet made me feel!
Coastal Scents Cosmetics Revealed 3 Palette - Retail Value $29.95 (found here for $19.95)
I didn’t own any of this brand’s palettes, but had heard of them through another close friend that is a professional make-up artist (what can I say, I have a lot of lovely and creative friends in the beauty industry). She tends to get the palettes for her kit to do freelance jobs. This set has some incredible colors ranging in neutrals, warm golds, and vivid purples, fuschias, and lilacs. As always, wear these over a primer to bring out the shades’ vibrant tones. These blended well enough but were not nearly pigmented as my go–to palette brand, Morphe. However, for the price of $20, the quality is great! I look forward to playing with this palette even more, especially with the purples since I usually steer clear!
Nunzio Saviano Anti Frizz Sheets, 2 sheets - Estimated Value $2.40, Listed Value $2 (buy a box of 15 sheets for $18)
Two anti-fizz products! Heck yes, your girl is ready for humid, swampy weather! I was legitimately ecstatic to try these sheets. Especially on those days that I leave my house and the air feels like soup on my skin---yuck. These did the trick in a pinch and I sense these will even be fantastic in the winter to combat static and flyaways! Did I mention that it has SPF in it to protect your hair color? SOLD.
Verdict: I loved the selections from H2BAR this month! I didn’t think April’s box could be topped, but May’s came pretty dang close! I appreciated all the warm weather anti-frizz products included and that a lot of products were travel sized so I can easily pack them on my upcoming vacation! My favorite items this month were the Tarte Park Avenue Princess Bronzer, Juice Organics Shampoo and Conditioner, Virtue Labs Polish Unfrizz, and the Coastal Scents Palette. I am blown away by the products included too, considering the box is a flat $18.98 (shipping is included!)! The total value for this box is $98.46, which is $79.48 in savings. What a stellar value for such incredible products! Even if you aren’t a redhead, getting this box is worthwhile; you can always give the products exclusively made for redheads to your gorgeous ginger friends!
