J.K. Rowling Wizarding World Crate is one of the latest entries in the Loot Crate family of subscription boxes. This box is focused on the world created by J.K. Rowling and features items from Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them.

Each box is themed - this box was themed "Hogwarts House Pride 2018".

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

It's very appropriate that the Sorting Hat makes an appearance for this box! Each item is selected based on the house you choose while signing up.

J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World Crate May 2018 Review - Hogwarts House Pride 2018

This month features new socks, a shirt, pin, patch, and pocket watch.

Each month arrives with an information card that details the items in your box.

Lightning Bolt Lapel Pin - $5-10

Every shipment comes with a pin. This month continues the Horcrux pin series with Harry's lightning bolt scar.

House Shirt - Value $15?

My favorite item in the box is the shirt. You'll get your specific house for your shirt - but I'm just kind of digging this print itself.

Hogwarts and House Crest Socks - Value $20?

Everyone gets two pairs of socks this month - each listed as individual items on the information card.

Here is a peek at the Gryffindor socks. Both pairs of socks have the same construction - 98/2 polyester/spandex blend - they are on the thinner side and VERY comfy.

Along with your specific house socks, you'll also get Hogwarts crest socks. I'm really enjoying how comfy the socks are!

House Pocket Watch - Value $15-20?

Continuing the Gryffindor goods, everyone gets a house-specific pocket watch.

It features the house crest on the outside and as a charm on the necklace.

Popped open, you'll get another glimpse of the crest.

House Patch - Value $5?

The final item is a house-specific patch. Pop this on your backpack or jacket to share your house pride.

Verdict: The second House Pride box was a miss for me. While I did like the shirt and socks, the other items really didn't excite me too much. At $45, I would hope to like more than socks and a t-shirt - so, overall, it was a miss for me this month.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. This was an older theme – the current theme can be found on the landing page!

This box was just awe full, and you should check the website, the cheeky devils changed the items from 5-7 a crate to 4-6…with all the licensed product available to them yet there is no sense of wow or whimsy in theses boxes.

Hmmm

I’ve been looking for a hufflepuff shirt to swap for but haven’t seen any. Does anyone know if these shirts usually get sold on lootcrate eventually?

This was my second LootCrate Wizarding World box, and it was better than the last box, but still a let down. It was so empty too! The shirt is lovely, and the pocket watch is amazing but that’s all that I liked. I was originally so happy about the two pairs of socks, but ended up being disappointed. They’re too big on me, and I almost never wear crew socks anyways.

I seem to be in the minority on this box. I loved everything. I have worn the pocket watch on my waistband multiple times and gotten many compliments on it. I understand the socks in warm weather but many places still require socks and shoes for work and I wear them to the gym.

I agree- not very exciting box, I liked the patch and the t-shirt but other items were a miss for me. How sends warm socks in May?!!! Moreover the socks I received were men’s size socks , I wonder if it is one size fits all…

I’m super bummed. I love House Pride boxes and hate the fantastic beasts themed ones- which is the current theme. Guess I’ll be waiting to sign up. =/
