Jerky Dynasty May 2018 Review
This new subscription came with a letter detailing the items that are about to be devoured! This month, the in-house brand of Jerky Dynasty is being featured in many of the products, and there are a few other items to add extra enjoyment to this experience.
Pearson’s Ranch Boar Summer Sausage, 7oz - Retail Value $9.99
A not-so-secret fact about me is that I love a good meat and cheese platter, especially in the summer months when I absolutely don’t feel like cooking! Summer sausage isn’t something I would eat every day, just because it’s so rich, but this variety is a good one! It has a nice depth from the boar, and I really like the seasoning - I detect garlic, pepper, and a nice sweet balance. I think this stuff would be delicious with a red pepper relish, some goat cheese, and plenty of crispy bread rounds.
Nick’s Sticks Turkey Snack Sticks, 1.07 oz - Retail Value $3.25
Boasting meat sources like grass-fed beef and free-range turkey, this company has a health-focused approach and commitment to keeping artificial ingredients out of their products. These snack sticks in particular are advertised as being great for a post-workout snack! I personally love turkey as a jerky or snack stick, and I thought this had a really nice flavor. They’d be great for a hike or just an afternoon pick-me-up.
Nick’s Sticks Grass-Fed Beef Snack Sticks, 1.07 oz - Retail Value $3.25
The sister product to the turkey sticks in this box lacks ingredients that I really like to see removed from any kind of food item, particularly a meat-based one. These grass-fed beauties are dye-free, nitrate-free, hormone-free, sugar-free, and antibiotic-free, which is rare of any snack these days! These were hearty and absolutely delicious; definitely, a strong beef flavor and they had a great snap at the first bite.
Jerky Dynasty Black Pepper Beef Jerky, 3 oz - Retail Value $7.99
The first of the in-house offerings in this box was the black pepper variety of the beef jerky the company offers! I sometimes hesitate at “black pepper,” or “peppered” jerky - I find that the hand with the pepper is too generous, and not very deft. That’s not the case with this snack, though! While the black pepper flavor was absolutely present, this jerky was well-rounded in flavor, with the black pepper as an accent for enhancing these tender cuts.
Jerky Dynasty Original Beef Jerky, 3 oz - Retail Value $7.99
The second variety of beef jerky from this box was the original flavor. It was pure beef happiness! I read in the letter that they use three different kinds of wood when they do the smoking process, rather than adding liquid smoke, and you can tell that the mild smokiness in the original flavor has a really authentic taste to it. If there’s anything I love in my jerky, it’s that deliciously savory smoky flavor!
Jerky Dynasty Hot and Spicy Beef Jerky, 3 oz - Estimated Value $7.99 (based on previous two items)
Most people probably know by now that even though I want to build up a tolerance, I’m not really into spicy food. I don’t like it about myself but it’s true! That being said, I was a little hesitant to try this jerky variety - sometimes jerky can be really hot. However, I was really pleasantly surprised with this stuff. It definitely has a hot-pepper edge, but it’s a soft heat that doesn’t burn my mouth out. I took this variety to be the box-exclusive that was previously promised, since I didn’t find it on the Jerky Dynasty site!
Verdict: This first Jerky Dynasty box was a really impressive offering! I personally like jerky a lot, but I’m pretty sure it’s my husband’s favorite food, so having this box in the house won me some serious brownie points with the mister. I definitely squirreled away the turkey sticks for myself, and I’m going to slice up that summer sausage for a fancy meat and cheese plate when friends come over. Maybe, just maybe, my husband will let me steal a few more pieces of that black pepper jerky - it was so good!

Value Breakdown: This box cost $49.99 plus US free shipping, which means each of the 6 items inside cost an average of $8.33. I estimate a total value of $40.46, which is below the box cost, but jerky can be really expensive and I'm okay with this value, especially considering that shipping to my address was included, there was an exotic meat, and one of the jerky varieties appeared to be a box-exclusive that couldn’t be found elsewhere.
