Mighty Fix June 2018 Review

Each box includes an info card telling you about the featured item and how what they chose to send you helps your house be “greener,” and you be “healthier”! This month’s featured item is Soapwalla Deodorant Cream. The back of the card has more information on this month’s product.

Soapwalla Deodorant Cream 2oz – Retail Value $14.00

I have received natural deodorants in subscription boxes before, and I used for a few months, but they didn’t work to my liking. This month I received a deodorant cream made in Brooklyn, NY that has the worst smell, I smelled fish, but my friend said it smelled like Vick's vapor rub. Once I applied a small amount on my armpits the smell wasn’t as bad. I applied two days in a row but not sure if I would use daily due to the smell. The deodorant cream, for the most part, was effective, with no body odor towards the end of the afternoon as I have in the past with natural deodorants. The deodorant cream is 100% chemical free, vegan, with essential oils that intend to absorb moisture, and impede bacteria. Some of the ingredients consist of, shea butter, corn starch, sunflower seed oil, jojoba seed oil and rosehip seed oil. If you can get over the smell once opening and want to go all natural, then give this product a try.

From Soapwalla Kitchen:

Soapwalla’s Original Deodorant Cream is all natural and uniquely powerful, utilizing superfine vegetable powders and clays, as well as lavender, peppermint and tea tree essential oils to absorb moisture, discourage bacteria, and ensure a long-lasting and highly effective experience. The frosting-like consistency allows for easy manual application and rapid absorption and is ideal for all skin types.

Our Deodorant Cream is vegan and is made with the highest quality organic and food-grade ingredients. Unisex.

Verdict: This was not my favorite Mighty Fix, but each month may not be a hit. It was a nice change to have a personal body product this month; the last few months have been kitchen and food storage products. This subscription doesn’t send the same item each month to everyone that subscribes, so keep in mind that if you choose to subscribe your item may be different from what I received. Also, readers have mentioned in previous reviews that they already received a product I was reviewing. The $14.00 value may be low this month, but I receive quality items each month for $10.00 which is an incredible deal.

Eww- fish smelling deodorant?

I thought there was a Mighty Fix “body” subscription; so I’d be really disappointed to get this in my regular box.

Does everyone not get the same? I started this month and I received wool dryer balls, which you seem to have received and reviewed in July 2017. I like the dryer balls, just started curious if we all get the same or not. I would love to try this deodorant as well.

Wow — There’s a new feature for Mighty Fix subscribers that I just discovered upon logging into my account! When you click on the “My Account” link in the upper right corner and select “Easy Reorder,” you will land on a page that displays all of the Mighty Fixes (and other items) that have been shipped to you. If you click on the “My Account” option below the Previously Purchased Items title, there is now a new “Choose My Fix” option! Yay for customization!

I know I wouldn’t like this deodorant because I like my deodorant to have a nice flowery smell and I like it to be a stick or roll on and not have to use my fingers to put it on.

MightyFix subscribers have the option to login, select “My Account” and, in the “Body and Skin Care” section select the “No, please do not send these items” option. (You may also choose to select “Vegan only” items.) After making any changes, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the “Save My Profile” button. Since I configured my profile in this fashion, I have not received any body or skincare items.

Thank you!

Very helpful tip! Thank you for posting this; I had forgotten about these profile questions and did, in fact, have No selected for any skincare items.

You’re welcome! Also, if you’d prefer to see what was sent before it arrives, check the link with the order details. (I prefer to be surprised, myself.)

Nich

Thanks for the tip, I didn’t know this.

You’re welcome, Nich! I always enjoy reading your reviews!

No no no. I thought this was cleaning/house items for this sub?

I haven’t rec’d my June shipment yet but I really hope I don’t get this deodorant. If I do, this will likely be my last month with them. I signed up under the impression that the monthly item would be more oriented towards home goods so rather surprised to see a skincare item.

I actually love the Soapwalla sensitive skin deodorant in Lavender Mint. It works really well for me. I’m sorry you weren’t a fan of this kind, though. I’ve never smelled this version before.

Looking at the ingredients, I wonder if maybe it was the Tea Tree that you didn’t like? It can have a really distinctive kinda medicinal scent.

Zo

I smelked mine and it is tea tree which I actually like.

Wow, great product; I love natural deodorants! I find that after using them for awhile, I actually sweat way less, thus no need for an aluminum-based antiperspirant anyway. $99 a year isn’t a bad deal, either! That’s only $8.25 a month.

I received this same item. I didn’t open the jar but now I will to see what it smells like.

Nich

Yes, please do and let me know what smell you detected.
