Nomadik May 2018 Review
I’m already used to the new Nomadik booklet. We’ve got full product descriptions, tips, discounts, and the monthly challenge laid out in a compact design. This month’s theme is Happy Camper, and we get a box focusing on camping essentials.
UCO Gear Hundred Headlamp – Retail Value $24.99
First up this month is an essential piece of camping gear: a crazy bright headlamp! This is the second UCO headlamp I’ve gotten from a subscription box, and I’ve found that their gear is top-notch in quality. This particular headlamp is really bright. I brought it camping this past weekend and it was so bright that I kind of annoyed one of my friends. It’s low profile and the chambray strap is pretty stylish to boot.
Colter Forager Survival Bandana – Retail Value $14.00
Next up we have this bandana from Colter Co. A bandana is always nice to have when camping as it has plenty of uses, but the print on this one focuses on edible wild plants that you can forage. I think this is a great idea BUT before you go out eating plants from the woods, you should probably do a little more research than a line drawing on a bandana. Just sayin. Use this as a reminder. And then use it to keep the sun off your neck!
Sierra Sage Doublemint Castile Soap, 2 fl oz. – Retail Value $4.95
Castile soap is an incredibly versatile soap, and this double mint offering from Sierra Sage is quite refreshing. They have a “proprietary essential oil blend” so I can’t tell you exactly what mint scents they use, but it smells like spearmint and wintergreen maybe? Castile soap can be used all around camp, from cleaning pots and pans to cleaning your face and hands, not to mention your clothes and even as a pet shampoo! I normally have a bottle of castile in my dopp kit so this will be great to have on hand when it runs out.
Verdict: Nomadik was excellent this month. I know I’ll be using each item on multiple trips for likely years to come. They promise up to $50 worth of items in each box, and this month’s retail value comes out to $43.94. We’re definitely over the initial cost, but as is the case with most Nomadik boxes, if one item doesn’t work for you personally, you may be cutting it close on value.

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will start with the July box.
