Paper Pumpkin June 2018 Review
This month’s theme is “Broadway Star”:
The instruction leaflet is not as informative as the how-to-video on YouTube, which I prefer to watch before starting the project. I use the instruction leaflet as a guide when I get stuck on a step.
Enclosed in each monthly kit are a water-based dye ink stamp pad in color, lovely lipstick and a photopolymer stamp set. The photopolymer stamp set has, “CONGRATS,” “SO PROUD OF YOU,” “WE JUST WANTED TO SAY…”, “IT’S YOUR DAY,” “YOU DID IT,” and two stamp images in the design of a piece of cake and stars.
Enclosed in this month’s kit is an informational flyer about products from the Broadway Bound Suite from Stampin’ Up that coordinates perfectly with this month’s kit. The products are suited to make alternative cards designs.
There were two card designs, and here I applied the two cardstock stickers, and a black frame piece to the card base and the white cardstock got stamped.
Here is another design; I layered the cardstock sticker, the black frame piece, and the gold foil sticker in “Hooray.” onto the card base. The cards had little stamping just the white cardstock that I stamped and the various sayings that weres stamped.
Here I stamped the saying directly on the card base instead of using the stamped saying that was on a smaller paper cut-out. It looked better this way since the cut-out was white and the color didn’t really pop.
Here’s the finished looked.
Verdict: This month’s Paper Pumpkin was an easy assemble with little stamping except for stamping the entire white cardstock stickers with the red stamp designs, which didn’t look appealing when finished. The color combination wasn’t pleasing, and the overall design of the cards was okay, not as festive or creative as past projects. This month’s cards weren't my favorite; not all kits will be to my liking, and I strayed away from the instructions and got creative with the designs. The twine didn’t fit with the card design, the sequins and pearls were cumbersome to attach to the cards, and there wasn’t enough of the black die-cut outs for the cards, which was a disappointment and the design I had to use didn’t look good. The kits are versatile so that I can adjust the designs to my liking. This craft kit sends quality paper products and all the materials to make a variety of cards well worth the $19.95 a month subscription cost.
