ShaggySwag May 2018 Review
Brewscuits Pumpkin Dog Treats, 4 oz. – Retail Value $6.00
Del and I started our ShaggySwag unboxing with these pumpkin treats. The treats from this brand have a fascinating concept. They're made in the USA using high-quality spent beer grains. I'm not entirely sure what that means, even after poking around the Brewscuits website a little, but as someone who loves a good craft beer, I find the idea to be cool. There's no alcohol nor hops in these treats, nor are there salt, sugar, additives, preservatives, corn, or soy.
I gave one to Del to try and he was pretty underwhelmed. He's never been much of a biscuit-eater, and while he didn't turn it down altogether, he left a whole lot of crumbles behind on the rug.
Bacon’d Strips with Turkey & Bacon Dog Treats, 6 oz. – Retail Value $15.99
He felt differently about these bacon strip treats, which are made in the USA with real bacon. He was pretty amped on them before I even broke the seal on the packaging and rushed through his usual sit-and-shake routine to get that treat in his mouth ASAP. Because of how desperate he was to eat one—and to make them last longer—I ripped off a small chunk instead of giving him the whole strip. He is obsessed with them. Del's diet consists of high-quality grain-free kibble and a few treats here and there, so I love that these bacon strips don't contain wheat, soy, corn, or artificial preservatives or flavors! As for Del? He's obsessed with them.
Silly Squeakers Beer Bottle Dog Toy – Retail Value $12.66
Oh my gosh, this toy is hilarious! Loving the PBR reference. Del goes crazy for a squeaky toy—especially one that he doesn't have to work very hard to squeak—so this one made him a very pleased dude. I waited until he was done following me around hoping for more Bacon'd Strips treats before beckoning him back with this rubbery bottle and he was more than happy to come over to claim his new toy. It kept him busy and waggin' until the squeaking sound needed to be put to rest for the sanity of us humans in the house. Haha! He'll get it back at a later date. 🙂
Mighty Balls Medium Squeaky Ball Dog Toy – Retail Value $10.61 (Buy a large ball here for $18.86)
Del has about 8 tennis balls stashed in a dirty corner of our back yard, and while he's only so-so at fetching them, he loves carrying them around. I wasn't sure how this ball would stack up since it's significantly larger than a tennis ball (4" in diameter), but really all I had to do was squeak it once and he was sold. He grabbed it, trotted right upstairs to the room where he keeps his toys, and happily growled as he squeaked away. This toy touts a vinyl core and a fleece outer layer so that it's not easily punctured and lasts a long time. Now the trick is just keeping him from taking it into that muddy tennis ball corner of the yard and getting it totally filthy!
Aussie Naturals Eco-Friendly Burger Dog Toy — Retail Value $15.95
The third and final squeaker toy of the box is this amazing eco-friendly burger thingy! It's made with jute lining, leather accents, coconut fiber stuffing, and a squeaker. I actually didn't realize this was a squeaky toy at first because of how thick its stuffing is. This is one that'll have to be worked for. Del couldn't quite figure out how to squeak it before losing interest, but I have a feeling he'll come back to it eventually.
Mango Tango Grooming Wipes – Retail Value $7.49
We usually keep an old towel by our door to wipe Del down after he's been out in the rain or mud, so I wasn't sure what I'd use these wet wipes for. But I tossed them in my car and actually they're perfect for that! We had a dog park visit that was unexpectedly drooly and I used these wipes to clean off his face before he got in the car. Worked great. They smell awesome.
Earth Rated Poop Bags, 2 rolls (30 bags) — Buy 120 bags for $6.99
These are the bags we use for Del anyway, so it's great to have a few extras to add to the collection! I'm guilty of tossing a roll in my pocket before a walk and then forgetting to take them back out when we get home, so it's great to have a few backups on hand. I find that these bags contain the poop scent nicer than some others I've tried and I love that they're biodegradable.
ShaggySwag Koozie – Estimated Value $3.00
And now a little somethin' for the humans! I popped this ShaggySwag exclusive koozie on the beer bottle dog toy to model it—perfect, right? I am getting such a kick out of the saying that's printed on the back of it! This will definitely go to good use around the fire pit in our back yard.
Verdict: I am all about ShaggySwag and got so many giggles exploring this month's box! I felt I received a well-rounded selection of high-quality treats and an interesting variety of toys, and Del is especially excited to have so many new things to squeak. Best of all, most if not all of ShaggySwag's offerings are eco-friendly and made in the USA! Additionally, they support Badass Brooklyn Animal Shelters. Yass!

Value Breakdown: Each ShaggySwag box is said to be guaranteed to have a $90+ value. This month, I received a total of a $68.70 value (not including the koozie) which doesn't quite reach that $90 promise but is still an awesome deal for a $32.00 a month + free shipping box cost. This means I spent approximately the following on each item:
- Brewscuits Pumpkin Dog Treats: $2.79
- Bacon'd Strips Dog Treats: $7.45
- Silly Squeakers Beer Bottle Dog Toy: $5.90
- Mighty Balls Dog Toy: $4.94
- Aussi Naturals Burger Dog Toy: $7.43
- Mango Tango Grooming Wipes: $3.49
