SnackSack Classic May 2018 Review
SnackSack includes a card that notes all of the products that are within the box, along with how to find them online.
Every first-time customer receives a tote (sack), which is meant to hold your snacks. It's a cute, on-theme concept, and it will be put to good use as a grocery bag for me.
Navitas Organics Superfood + Hemp Peanut Bar — Buy 12 for $22.68 (Found on sale here for $19.29)
This bar is a bit sticky and seemed kind of dense when I unwrapped it. But, biting into it, it was light and a little crunchy in a puffed kind of way! It has a really nice nutty flavor and isn't overly sweet.
Route 11 Lightly Salted Potato Chips, 1 oz — Buy 30 for $15.00
I love a good kettle-cooked potato chip and these ones are pretty classic. Though they're only lightly salted, they tasted plenty salty to me. I rarely treat myself to potato chips, so I loved every minute of this small bag!
Lilly's Hummus Single-Serve Cup, 2 oz – Buy 16 cups for $18.99
I love hummus and find it to be a great afternoon snack for a little protein boost. This roasted garlic flavor is exactly what I'd choose if I were buying this single-serve packet for myself—as hoped, it's flavorful but didn't leave me with garlic breath. I ate it with pretzels but often enjoy hummus with radishes and carrots.
PopCorners Kettle Corn Popped Corn Chips, 1 oz — Buy 40 for $28.78
I'll never get over the concept of PopCorners—they just blow my mind! They're a chip-shaped treat that totally tastes like popcorn, consistency and all. The best part is the shells don't tend to get stuck in my teeth (I hate that!). This kettle corn flavor is subtly sweet and really delish.
SuperEats High Protein Puffs, 1 oz — Buy 12 bags for $25.00
What a fancy flavoring for a puffed snack! I could smell the truffle oil as soon as I opened the bag. I wasn't always a fan of mushrooms but I started liking them in recent years, and it's partially because I'd had fries seasoned with truffle oil and loved them. The truffle oil and rosemary flavors are both present in these crunchy bites, and unlike the hummus, they kind of do leave you with garlicky breath! Fine by me. 🙂
Emmy's Organics Dark Cacao Coconut Cookie, single cookie — Buy 12, 3-pack bags for $29.95
Mmm, I was really looking forward to biting into this. I've had Emmy's cookies before in other flavors, but the cacao is my favorite yet. I'm not sure if someone who doesn't like dark chocolate would like this snack, but I personally thought it was divine, grainy coconut consistency and all.
Simply Smart Fruit & Nut Bar, 1.4 oz — Buy 12 for $24.00
In contrast to the previous nut and seed bar in this box, this one is much sweeter—its trail mix is held together by a shiny, sticky sweetness that made me thirsty. Mainly, I didn't love the dense consistency, but it's still a good thing to have on hand for a hike or midday hunger pang.
Vegan Rob's Probiotic Kombuchabar, 1.4 oz — Buy 3 bars for $11.37
This bar actually has kombucha listed as one of its ingredients! I'm not sure how kombucha's benefits work as an ingredient baked into a bar (or at least I think it's baked; I can't find anything on the packaging or on the Vegan Rob's site about how this snack is made), but if it really does have probiotic effects, then great! This is another puffed-style bar with a light and airy mouthfeel. I liked it!
Treasure Trove Snacks Sesame Seeds Crunch Snacks. 2 oz x 2 — Buy a 12 count variety pack for $29.80
So many nuts and seeds this month! I got two flavors of this snack and the one shown unwrapped above is the sesame & pumpkin seed one. I found it to be a little bland—sesame seeds make a great garnish, but I'm less interested in them as the main event. This snack was crunchy and crumbly, yet somehow also sticky. Not my favorite, but again, I can see myself keeping one of these on hand to snack on when hiking or something.
The Good Chocolate Company Lavle Mini Belgian Chocolate Bar 0.35 oz x 2 — Buy a 15 day supply for $14.90
Unfortunately, my SnackSack was waiting in the heat on my doorstep when it arrived this month, and these chocolates were completely melted. I strongly considered carefully unwrapping them and just shoving the melted chocolate in my mouth, but then I considered the fate of my shirt and opted out of that plan, haha. I ended up trying one later when it cooled off, and it didn't look very beautiful, but it tasted good. A nice, classic bite of dark chocolate!
AWAKE Caffeinated Chocolate Bites, 0.47 oz x 2 — Buy 50 for $29.99
The same story with these chocolates—they arrived all melty. I didn't try them once they hardened because I'm currently avoiding caffeine, but I can't wait to see if they give me a kick when I'm ready to try them down the line!
Super Yummys Coco Yummys White Chocolate Coconut — Buy 8 for $4.99
This thing is exactly as decadent as it looks! It's a dolce de leche flavored cookie with white chocolate drizzles and some seriously intense flavor! For something so sweet, I'd prefer a chocolate taste, but that doesn't mean it isn't delicious. I bet it'd be great with an espresso!
Verdict: This month's SnackSack was filled with nutty granola bars, which I eat a ton of! It was fun to try new brands and flavors to keep things interesting in the nutbar department, and among those that were sent to me, I can see myself buying the Navitas Superfood Hemp bar again. I love that each and every one of the treats included is non-GMO, gluten-free, vegan, or organic—or all of the above!—so I can munch without guilt, and enjoy some of my favorite flavors in a more healthy way.
