The PMS Package May 2018 Review

I was very excited to check out this month’s The PMS Package! Let’s dive into the goodies:

Beanitos White Bean Chips – Nacho Cheese, 1.2 oz

Beanitos White Bean Chips – Nacho Cheese, 1.2 oz - Retail Value $3.79

These are one of my favorite chips! I am a big fan of Doritos (cooler ranch, specifically) but these are a great alternative. These are gluten-free, high fiber and have 5g of protein per serving. The nacho cheese flavor was spot on and the chips have the perfect crunch. Perfect combo!

Cinnamon Graham Wild West Cookies, 2 oz - Retail Value $2.20

My son absolutely loved these cookies. We brought them with us on our Disney trip and they came in handy in a pinch. They fit perfectly in my wife’s fancy fanny pack, so he could enjoy them while we waited in our non-FastPass line. They’re better than Teddy Grahams because they don’t have the sticky outer layer but still hold onto the sweetness level.

Fatty Sundays – Peppermint, 1.48 oz

Fatty Sundays – Peppermint, 1.48 oz - Retail Value $3.49

These are cute for a gift, but I can’t see spending more than $1 per small pretzel rod on a regular basis. I do enjoy peppermint flavor, but it’s not my top pick for pretzel combinations. Fatty Sundays offers a TON of different flavor options, so I could definitely get into more of a chocolate/nut blend or the PB+J pretzels. This is certainly a snack to get your sweet and salty fix.

The Toasted Oat Bakehouse – Cherry Streusel, 1.75 oz

The Toasted Oat Bakehouse – Cherry Streusel, 1.75 oz - Estimated Value $1.22 (Buy a 10 oz. bag for $6.95)

This was my favorite snack in the pack. It’s so difficult to find a good granola blend that isn’t super crunchy or filled to the brim with dried fruit. This has more of a half-baked oatmeal consistency with a great sweet/sour cherry flavor. It’s not an extraordinary amount of calories either - only 120 per serving. Total win!

The Curious Creamery Ice Cream Mix – Chocolate, 3.1 oz - Retail Value $7.86 (found here for $5.72)

I was happily surprised by how well this ice cream mix turned out. It was very easy to make and ended up being a very fluffy after freezing. I followed the instructions on the back of the package and let it set in the freezer for three hours. When I first took it out, it appeared to be flat, almost like a big ice cube, but I was pleasantly surprised how quickly it became fluffed after stirring. The flavor was incredible! A perfect milk chocolate mixture with a creamy consistency. I would absolutely recommend this product in the future.

Fudge Brownie Cookie Dough, 3.1 oz

Fudge Brownie Cookie Dough, 3.1 oz - Retail Value $1.00

My wife was a big fan of this snack. It comes in a movie-sized candy box leaving enough for multiple servings (or sharing, if that you’re thing). I know they are double chocolate, coating, and filling, but I felt like the flavor was a little overwhelming. Compared to the birthday cake variety last month, this wasn’t as soft or tasty. If you like brownie batter, this would be a win for you.

Magical Star Lip Balm, 1 stick - Retail Value $3.00

This was my favorite item in the box. I’m always losing my lip balm, so I tend to try a wide variety of different brands. The coolest part about this brand is that you can choose your own flavor or make a custom mixture! They’re also very allergen and animal-friendly - free of gluten, parabens, nut derived oils and unsweetened! I received Vanilla Cream, but there are nearly 30 other available varieties or you can submit a special request. This will leave your lips feeling moisturized without the waxy residue. I highly suggest adding this to your summer purse accessories.

Wild Passion Bath Bomb, 1 bomb - Estimated Value $5.50

This bath bomb is quite large! From the outside of the package, the color and texture were very appealing and reminded me of a cozy fluffy blanket. The scent is exactly like Victoria’s Secret Love Spell and brought me immediately back to my 13-year-old self. I overdid this scent in my early teens and can barely stand the smell. Clearly, the curators of this box did not know this, so in fairness, I have to say it’s pretty incredible how closely it resembles that perfume. It did make my skin feel very soft and didn’t leave any sticky residue. This Etsy site offers a ton of different varieties, so I would certainly purchase another scent in the future. They have a lot of unique options that would make fantastic gifts, too.

Menstruheat, 1 piece

Menstruheat, 1 piece - Buy a 2-pack for $4.90

These are one of the most desirable items for crampy, heavy day two, especially when that falls on a day where you can’t snuggle with your heating pack on the couch for half the day. I ended up using this during my Disney World vacation, so it definitely helped me to enjoy our visit with the Mouse much more! The seemingly endless trips to the bathroom was what I would have expected with a potty training toddler, not a crampy mama. This helped take the edge off and kept the fun going.

Tampax – Super Tampons, 10 pack - Retail Value $3.88

Last month's box did not include tampons, so this was a big win for me. I don’t know any women that only go through 10 during their cycle, but because they’re super, they’ll be perfect for the first few days of heavy flow. I’m guessing this was the logic behind only including 10. In a perfect world (for me), this package would include a 20 pack with a variety of sizes from light to super. Regardless, I’m just happy to have some extra tampons this month.

Again, with the parallel timing of my vacation and lovely period, this travel pack of super tampons was spot on. I really don’t like cardboard applicators, but the tampons themselves were the same brand I typically buy. I always need super’s during the first few days, so having these available worked out perfectly.

The Verdict: This month’s The PMS Package brought a lot of great products to the table. They offered a nice variety of snacks, as well as some very unique self-care products. I really appreciated that this coincided with our vacation (minus the obvious reason), as many products came in handy while traveling and the box fit well in my suitcase. While I never look forward to Aunt Flo’s visit, I certainly am excited to see what next month brings!

The premium subscription box is $34.99 per month, including free shipping, and the estimated value of the products included in this month’s box is $34.39. The best part about this box is the introduction of unique products that aren’t sold in typical retail stores. So far, this subscription is definitely my favorite to receive each month.

I was first introduced to subscription boxes when I bumped into Bluum for my little one but quickly discovered new favorites like Hello Fresh and Scentbird. I love boxes that add a fun twist to the normal day-to-day activities and anything I can share with my family.

For me, the value of this box is just not there. The snacks look great, but I prefer picking out my own “tools” and usually just use Softcups anyway. That sure is the sweetest baby pic though – his expression is priceless! Thanks for sharing!
