June 2018 Vinyl Me, Please Review
The June shipment is a new pressing of TV on the Radio's sophomore album - Return to Cookie Mountain.
Each delivery comes with a cocktail mix to accompany the music.
It's also accompanied by an LP-size piece of artwork. This month's artwork is an ode to their biggest hit on this album - Wolf Like Me.
TV on the Radio - Return to Cookie Mountain
This month was a return to a band, and an album, that I haven't listened to in quite a while - it's the 2006 sophomore album from TV on the Radio!
This exclusive pressing comes with a booklet and liner notes, but the look of the album gatefold remains the same.
Side A/B has a bit of a deeper brown tone to it.
While side C/D is lighter in tone.
When it comes to the album, this is still a hit for me - it's one that has held up over time and has a single from it that I'm still not sick of hearing! While I haven't found myself being a fan of a TV on the Radio album from front-to-back, I do really like enough single songs across their catalog to make an album or two - so it was no surprise to me that this still has its peaks and valleys for me.
Verdict: I like discovering new music through this subscription, but I also really love revisiting old favorites that I haven't listened to in quite a bit - this one falls perfectly into that category!
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. You have until the 15th of the month to signup and get that month's album - so today is the final day! The current selection can be found on the 'Record of the Month' landing page.
