Wine Awesomeness is a monthly wine subscription that specializes in rare and unusual wines. They seek out "the coolest, craveworthiest wines" with plenty of crowd-pleasing appeal. The curatorial team includes a Food & Wine Sommelier of the Year!
Each Wine Awesomeness box comes with three wines. You choose whether you'd like the "All Red", "All White" (with a chance of rosé or bubbly), or the "Variety" (with a chance of rosé or bubbly) plan—they're all $45.00 per month. (This is the "Variety" plan.) If you're a more frequent wine drinker, or if you just want to grow your collection a little faster, Wine Awesomeness does offer all of their monthly selections for $75.00 per shipment in a plan called "The Six Pack."
Want to change your Wine Awesomeness preferences, skip a shipment, or cancel altogether? You can do all of the above via your online account at any time.
The wines arrive in a giant, nondescript cardboard box. Inside, the bottles were safely sitting in specially made cardboard trays.
My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).
This review is for the 3-Bottle variety plan, which is $49.00 per monthly box.

Wine Awesomeness "The Pink Edition" May 2018 Box Review
In addition to the usual wines and wine info, I got a coupon for the Bean Box coffee subscription. (You can get your own discount here!)
There was also a small card promoting Wine Awesomeness.
This month, Wine Awesomeness is using its The Back Labelmini-magazine to explore the world of rosé!
And of course, there were the usual assortment of tasting notes, unique flavor descriptions, and recipe pairings for the wines in the box!
2016 Nouveau Monde Sauvignon Blanc - Retail Value $18.00
The version of this wine listed on the Wine Awesomeness site is a 2015, but I'm assuming the value is about the same. I've been getting really into white wines, especially now that it's summer. I loved how light and pretty this wine tasted, though the flavor wasn't flimsy or soulless as some white wines can be. It has what I think wine experts call "body", hehe. (I'm slowly learning what all these words mean.) WA says: "This Sauvignon Blanc is brilliantly balanced with citrus notes of lemon rind, lime, and grapefruit and a perfect amount of acidity that creates an all-around lightness you’ll be tempted to chug." they liken it to watching a rom com with all the windows open on a perfect-weather day. I love it!
2016 Chateau les Tuileries Bordeaux - Retail Value $18.00
As much as I love white wines, though, my heart will always belong to reds. This bordeaux is rich with what I guess I'd describe as "woodsy berry flavors". It's very tannic, according to WA. (I'll have to remember that descriptor...) They also explain the flavor as "musky and smoky with the slightest hint of cattle on the nose." Not sure if I understand the cattle part, but I do get sort of a wet-earth-after-a-rain vibe.
2017 Secret Identity Rose - Retail Value $18.00
Going by packaging alone, this is by far my favorite bottle. Label? Awesome. Clark Kent glasses on the lid? Amazing. Twist-off top? I'm in love. The flavor is nothing to laugh at either. This summery pink wine has an upbeat floral freshness to it, as well as a fruity sweetness (but in a sophisticated, not-cloying way). It feels perfect for sipping on the porch during a breezy summer day. I got this bottle this time last year, too, and I'm glad to see it make a triumphant return!
The Verdict: I liked this month's Wine Awesomeness selections a lot. I appreciate when they offer what feel like really sophisticated, classic flavors alongside fresher, more modern bottles, like the twist-off bottle of Secret Identity. And thanks to their booklet, I feel like I'm constantly learning new things about wine, from how to describe it to how best to enjoy it. If you're looking for a gift for a newlywed or a graduate, I feel like this subscription would be a really classy, fun one!
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Every Wine Awesomeness box is curated specifically to the recipient's tastes. What's in the box depends on your responses to their easy questionnaire and also what's available at the time. It's likely you won't end up with the exact same wines that I did, but you might get something even better suited to your palate!
