ZaaBox "Summer Rose" May 2018 Review
Enclosed in the box is an info card describing the products and the product ingredients.
Each month the founder Mr. Strong sends a handwritten note, which leaves me blushing.
Iyoba Body Essentials Hair and Body Butter, 4oz – Retail Value $14.00
I love body butters, and I enjoyed using this product. This body butter wasn’t heavy or greasy. It was creamy, lightweight, and a little goes a long way. I did notice somewhat what of a greasy residue on my legs as I applied too much. There was an assortment of scents, but the scent blackcurrant rose that I received was not on their website. From Iyoba:
When applied to the skin, our Hair & Body Butter penetrates the tissue to deliver moisture to dehydrated skin cells, leaving the skin feeling softer and suppler. The conditioning body butter can be used to minimize the appearance of stretch marks and decrease the likelihood of them forming during pregnancy. For the hair, the butter makes for an excellent deep conditioner or sealant for the ends. With regular use, the hydrating formula can help restore strength and pliability to damages tresses, making them less likely to break.
Blue Lotus Candles - Golden Petals, 4oz – Estimated Value $6.00 (buy an 8oz candle for $12.00)
This travel size candle was lightly scented and the aroma of the bath bomb overpowered the room as the aroma of the candle wasn’t strong. If I light the candle again in my room, I may get a stronger aroma. It was nice to indulge myself after a long day with a foot soak by candlelight. I believe having a candle always makes any occasion spa ready and of course romantic.
Mitra’s Grace Rose Toner, 4oz - Retail Value $8.00
I love a product that has ingredients I can pronounce and recognize. This toner has witch hazel, rose water, and rose oil. I cleansed my skin and sprayed my cotton swab with the toner and swiped my face with the product. The toner was gentle on my skin; the only drawback was the scent of the witch hazel, it was strong. I haven’t used witch hazel in a long time so the scent was overpowering at first but I soon adjusted.
Iyoba Rose and Sandalwood Bath Bomb – Retail Value $4.00
The fizzy bath bomb includes baking soda, Epsom salt, citric acid, jojoba oil, rose petals, and Iyoba’s essential oil blend. It suggests creating an at-home spa bath or foot soak. I opted for the foot soak. OMG, the aroma of the bath bomb was breathtaking. The scent of the rose petals was intoxicating, and the bath bomb’s essentials oils left my feet smooth and soft. I received a bath bomb in last month’s box, the Kiss Bath Bomb. I always find it unusual when subscription boxes send the same product two month’s in a row; it may be a difference in style or color or scent; it’s like the team couldn’t be more creative and bring subscribers a new product not seen in the box before. Both bath bombs were a hit for me, but I would have liked to have seen a new luxury spa product or tool.
Here you can see the flower petals in the bath bomb through the wrapping.
Phillip Ashley Chocolates - Estimated Value $10.00 (buy a 12-piece box for $49)
I received a small box with two chocolates, in the flavor “Rosewater Orange Blossom Champagne.” The chocolate has a creamy filling and taste of lemon and orange. I believe the flavors are infused with white chocolate, not sure, but the chocolates were delicious. The chocolates were handcrafted in small batches using the finest ingredients with fair trade chocolate. I didn’t find this particular product on their website, so the value is an estimate.
The Verdict: Another enjoyable box and they continue to pamper me monthly as well as leaving me blushing from the handwritten note from Mr.Strong. ZaaBox is still new to me, and I’m impressed by their mission to deliver luxury products that are all natural by black-owned business. This month’s products are larger in size which is an improvement. I enjoyed the foot soak, the toner, and the candle in this month’s box. I received four luxury products for an at-home spa experience that valued at $42.00, a tad low in value for the $39.95 subscription price ($34.95 + $5 shipping). This subscription has me torn, I have enjoyed the luxury bath and body products, but I expect more, full-size products an array of spa products and tools to take my at-home spa experience to the next level. A few ideas: a portable massager, hair wrap, robe, towel wrap, essential oils with a diffuser, loofah sponge, lavender soap, bath caddy, or pumice stone. Let’s see what’s surprises bring subscribers for June.
