ZenPop Stationery Pack May 2018 Review
There is first a sheet with a coupon code to use at the ZenPop Market as a thank you for subscribing.
Next, you'll find one of the most detailed info sheets of any stationery sub. The theme this month is "Fruit Basket", so you'll find so many fun fruits within the items!
Banana Fruit Scissors
How freaking cute are these?? If you're always misplacing scissors, allow these to be the ones that finally break that habit. It comes with a magnet on the back so you can attach it to your fridge and you'll never lose sight of these lil babies. The holder looks like the yellow body of a banana, while the scissors have green handles to mimic the stem!
3D Pear Memo Pad
Another ridiculously cute item is this 3D pear memo pad that comes flat and is opened up to allow it to stand up on its own. It even comes with one of those styrofoam protectors that come on delicate fruit in the store! Simply tear a "slice" out of this to jot down a note or use to mark a page in the book you're reading.
Fruits-chan Sticky Notes
This sticky note pad is standard size but way more adorable than your average post-it. A pale pink background leaves space for you to write notes while anthropomorphic pears, grapes, bananas, apples, pineapples, lemons, cherries, and... a more obscure fruit friend line the top and bottom of the sheet. The little triangles give it a 90s vibe as well which I am digging!
Kiguru-Me Ring Notebook
As I learned from the info sheet, kigurumi means "animal suit" so as you can see, there is a cockatoo on the front who is eating apples while removing its penguin suit! I love that it says "Quit Penguin" underneath as if it is done being a penguin for now as it enjoys the apples that are slowly disappearing from its head. What? I don't know, but I like it. The lined pages on the inside also feature our friend in full penguin costume with apples in the bottom right corner.
Fruit Washi Tape
What a fun summery design for washi tape! As you unroll, you'll discover more colorful fruits on this lightweight white tape. Perfect to use in tandem with some of the forthcoming fruit stationery!
Schedule Stickers
While I can't read what these planner stickers say, I can tell they are awfully cute. There is some bunting, wands, and small frames to stick around important dates!
Yummy Stationery Pencil
Shhh- do not wake the sleeping animals that are all over this pastel pencil. The golden bear at the end gives it a special flair as well as the glitter covering the surface.
Melty Cafe Pencil Sharpener
And, of course, they wouldn't leave you without a way to sharpen your new kawaii pencil! This sharpener is disguised as a tasty drink from a place called "Melty Cafe". The bubble lid comes off as well as the whipped cream and straw so that you can empty out the shavings after sharpening.
Strawberry Mini Letter Set
Strawberries are the perfect summer fruit and this mini letter set has got you all set to write five letters or notes to friends! There are 10 mini sheets of paper to match the red and blue strawberry print mini envelopes. So adorable! They come in a resealable pouch as well that you can use to store important things after you've sent all your letters out!
Platinum ZeroShin Pen
I'm usually over the moon about most Japanese pens but this one doesn't really grab me. Although it has a unique triangular body, it's a run-of-the-mill black ink ballpoint pen with a yellow-y orange grip and clip.
Rushon Petite Pen - Retail Value $1.50
On the other hand, this cutie reminds me of one of my favorite felt-tipped pens, Le Pen. This Rushon Petite pen came in an awesome turquoise color and has a nice fine point so I can write the smallest notes!
Akashiya SAI Watercolor Brush Pen - Estimated Retail Value $3.50 (similar linked)
I've received a set of these watercolor brush pens in the past but this one is new to me. The teal/turquoise color matches the rushon pen above, so I can use them together to create something really nice!
Here are writing samples of the pens.
Bonus! Rainbow Washi Tape
This one was only included in subscriber packs (not single purchase packs). I love getting unique types of washi tape and I consider this to be one since it's so skinny! More narrow than the average roll of washi tape, this design reminds me of Pantone color swatches due to the squares of different colors. Very cool!
The bottom of the box is super cute and even has a "Thank You!".
Verdict: This month's ZenPop Stationery Pack was full of fruity fun and brought so much kawaii to my office! The banana scissors have to be my favorite item with the pear fruit memo coming in close second. ZenPop is a wonderful grab bag of stationery items from Japanese brands that are hard to find in smaller cities like Pittsburgh, so I'm super excited everytime it shows up!
