Apollo Surprise Box July 2018 Review
When you sign up for Apollo Surprise Box, they will have you answer some questions to get a feel for your tastes!
You first begin with your gender. Too bad you can't skip this or have an "either" option. Who's to say what items are more "male" or "female" when it comes to personal preference?
You'll then choose which categories you're interested in (I chose Home Decor, Kitchen, Fancy Food, Outdoor, Beauty & Accessories, and Terrarium & Garden).
Then the styles you are attracted to (I chose Cute, Minimalist, Punk, Vintage, and Modern).
You will then choose which plan you want, and when you want it delivered before adding your shipping and payment info.
Here's the packing list that shows the cost of each item on their website and how much you saved by subscribing. The total retail value came to $51.98, so I saved $21.98 by subscribing to the $30.00 price point. Shipping also isn't included on this sheet though, so you can subtract $4.99 from that savings.
I received three items this time and info cards for each with a photo and short description.
Insulated Stainless Steel Llama Water Bottle By Studio Oh! - Retail Value $28.99
I was pleasantly surprised with this 17 oz. sturdy stainless steel water bottle because I love llamas! This particular design is by artist Eli Halpin and is produced by Studio Oh!. It looks like it was originally a painting and shows the face of a cute perky-eared llama against a pink background. The tag attached to it says it will keep things cold for 24 hours or hot for 12, so it's perfect for road trips, camping, or other outdoor adventures you may be going on this summer. I lose water bottles pretty often, so this one will come in handy for me and the double-walls will keep my drink nice and cold! It's also BPA-free but is hand wash only and of course, can't go in the microwave.
Kitty Date Stamp - Retail Value $11.99
This is also a really adorable item! I love stationery items like stamps plus I love kitties, so this is right up my alley. I'm not sure when I will need to use this changeable date stamp, but I really like the idea of having it. It reminds me of the pre-computer days of the library when they needed to stamp the date in the card in the book. There are wheels to turn for the month, two for the day, and one for the year (which spans from 2017-2028). The rest of the stamp is metal and the kitty handle is made of a light colored wood. It seems well made and even comes with a wooden stand so it can sit upright on your desk. Just grab an ink pad and you're good to go.
Sushi Socks - Retail Value $14.00 (found here for $11.00)
I probably wouldn't spend $11.00 on these socks, but I have to give it to them for the clever packaging. This is definitely more of a novelty item that I can see someone buying as a gift for a sushi lover. They come rolled up in a clear package so they look like roe sushi, and unroll to reveal very long crew socks with an orange band at the top. The front has the image of the roe, and the back says something I cannot read. Lemme know if you can! The socks are 70% polyester, 18% cotton, and 5% spandex.
Verdict: Apollo Surprise Box was hit and miss for me this month. I love the water bottle and the date stamp but could do without the socks. While the retail prices are listed on their site, I'm not totally on board with the price of the socks. This month's total value is $54.98, which exceeds the $34.99 box cost ($30.00 a month + $4.99 shipping).
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? The items you will receive are based on your preferences, so you aren't likely to get the same things I did. When you sign up, you can choose your delivery date window as well.
