Tavik Vice Short Sleeve Knit Tee, size small - Retail Value $37.00
The first item is this super duper soft tee from Tavik. I'm not familiar with the brand but immediately recognized it as a high-quality item based on the feel of it as well as the presentation. I can be all over the place with sizing, but this size small fits like a glove so it isn't too large or too small. The 100% cotton fabric is also really lightweight so it's perfect for summer! The beachy graphic has been screened on the inside of the shirt to give it a more worn-in/muted look. A sunset over the ocean, through some palm trees, is quite a nice scene if I do say myself.
Dime II Sunglasses by DIFF Eyewear - Retail Value $60.00
Ahhhh! I LOVE these sunnies!! Receiving sunglasses in a subscription box is always a crap shoot (especially since I am uber picky) but these fit my face shape well and are totally something I would pick for myself. I've been wearing these for the last week and have to say that they're a great quality and quite sturdy. I honestly thought they'd have a higher price point but part of their model is to provide the same quality as luxury brands at a fraction of the cost. I love the tortoise color and even though I don't always love mirrored lenses, the yellow color of these are really summery and fun. What's also great is that DIFF Eyewear has a "buy one give one" program that donates a pair of reading glasses to someone in need when you purchase their sunglasses. They also support The Sabo Project.
Roxy Dig This Trucker Hat in Black - Retail Value $22.00
I'm not particularly a mesh trucker hat kind of gal but am familiar with the beach/surf brand Roxy since it's been around for ages. My friend Sari has been getting me out of my house this summer with hikes and kayaking trips, so I always need to slather tons of sunscreen onto my pale skin and make sure my noggin is protected from those harmful rays. Enter: this hat! I got rid of all of my old flat-brimmed baseball caps so this one is actually welcome to assist in my outdoor adventures. So glad it came in black as well!
Pura Vida Bitty Palm Frond Bracelet in Pink - Retail Value $10.00
Another brand I recognize is the ever popular Pura Vida (who is also a charitable company), mainly because of Liz's reviews of their very own bracelet club! The bracelet I received is a braided pink style that has a silver palm leaf charm (as well as the standard Pura Vida charm). It's adjustable simply by pulling the two ends so that it can accommodate my freakishly small wrists. 😉 Since these bracelets are really collectible and stackable, I'm interested to see if one will come in each box moving forward.
Slowtide x Salt & Stone Alkali Beach Towel - Retail Value $39.95
Would you believe that I don't own a beach towel? If I'm being honest, I'm not big on public pools and living in Pittsburgh, I don't have a beach readily available to me. However, as I mentioned earlier, my friend planned a leisure kayaking trip last weekend, so this towel came at the perfect time! I brought this Slowtide towel (a collaboration with Salt & Stone) along on our almost four-hour kayak float which included a stop to swim in the river we were on outside of town. This heavy-duty towel also doubled as a shade when the sun was beating down on my fair skin a bit more than I'd like. Like the hat, I'm pleased with the black and white foamy ocean water design that speaks to my goth tendencies. I popped this in the washer after my trip and it was good to go for the next outing!
SunnyLife Gold Glitter Pineapple Inflatable Drink Holder - Retail Value $22.00
Yet another quality brand, SunnyLife, makes an appearance in the box! The Austrailian company is one of the most fun names in pool gear and this glitter-filled inflatable pineapple drink holder is no exception. The pineapple is 27 inches tip to toe and holds four drinks while you float in the (in-ground, above ground, or even baby) pool to beat the heat. The body of the pineapple is metallic gold and clear so that you can see the chunky gold glitter inside, and it's topped with a metallic green leafy top. This will accommodate large tumblers or 12-ounce cans alike.
Aloha Collection Small Harmony Pouch in Guava - Retail Value $28.00
Oooh- I am really digging this "splash-proof" pouch made of Tyvek! There is something magical about Tyvek that I can't quite put my finger on. It's super durable, lightweight, and as I mentioned, has a level of water-resistance that will keep everything in here safe near the water. Normally this material is a plain white, but Aloha Collection has made it cute with all sorts of different patterns. This one is from the "Resort Collection" and features bold pink stripes with khaki palm leaves overtop to add beachy vibes to any trip. It comes with a really sturdy plastic zipper and has all the info printed on the inside. You can even use this to toss your wet swimsuit into so you don't get anything else in your bag damp. I'm really tempted to get one of these large striped ones for travel...
Salt & Stone California Mint Lip Balm - Retail Value $5.00
The box is rounded out with a summer essential: lip balm! I suppose lip balm is also a winter essential, but "California Mint" just sounds summery to me. It's made with organic beeswax, extra virgin coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, and organic peppermint essential oil. I love the minimal packaging of this made in the USA balm and since mint is my favorite scent/flavor, I am digging this one. It went straight into my purse to keep my lips hydrated when I need it.
Verdict: I am more than impressed with my first sign up today? Yes, although yours may be different than mine based on your preferences. They ship batches each month for the current season. The next one ships July 14th!
