Fair Trade Friday is an organization that helps to empower women and battle poverty through dignified, sustainable industry (craftsmanship). They have three subscriptions to choose from that send fairly traded items from around the world: The Original Box, Bracelet of the Month, and Earrings of the Month. I have subscribed to the Earring of the Month box for years now, and I am really excited to have this opportunity to review the Original Box!

This review is of the $32.99 a month Fair Trade Friday Original Box.

Fair Trade Friday Original Box July 2018 Review

The usual booklet was not included this month, instead, I received this card which talks about how to have your own Fair Trade Market! Interesting stuff! I do miss reading about the artisans involved in this month's fairly traded goods, though. I am wondering if the booklet was mistakenly left out?

These little cards were also included. They provide some detail about Fair Trade Friday and their parent organization, Mercy House.

Freedom Pouch

Freedom Pouch - Estimated Value $8?

I could not find this little bag for sale online anywhere, so the retail value is a guess. It's a cute little bag, though! I really like the colors! It seems to be made of cotton and measures about 3"x4".

Wooden Tray by Rahab's Rope, India - Retail Value $14

This wooden tray is gorgeous! I love the depth of the wood grain, and it's super smooth! It measures about 10" by 16". It was handcrafted by artisans in India who are part of Rahab's Rope, an organization that provides vocational training and employment for trafficking victims.

Gold Beaded Bracelet by 3 Strands, Nepal

Gold Beaded Bracelet by 3 Strands, Nepal - Retail Value $8

This bracelet is so pretty! Unfortunately, it doesn't fit over my big hand (and is not stretchy). That's perfectly okay, as it will make a great gift for one of my many friends with dainty-to-average sized hands. The chain is crocheted thread with glass beads, which are all gold except one red bead. The red bead stands for the survivor of trafficking that created the bracelet. How beautiful!

Brass Necklace by Basha, Bangladesh

Brass Necklace by Basha, Bangladesh - Retail Value $24

This brass necklace is gorgeous! It's a good length, and I love the pendants! It has a nice weight to it which gives it a good quality feel. Basha is an organization in Bangladesh that works to provide a sustainable livelihood for women at risk and survivors of trafficking and abuse.

The Verdict: I am loving my subscription to Fair Trade Friday Original Box! I didn't totally love the print, but I absolutely adore everything else I received this month! This might be my favorite Fair Trade Friday package ever! I also like all the information they provide to show how your subscription directly impacts the lives of others. It makes the subscription seem that much more special.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. In order to receive the box of the month, you must subscribe before the 24th of the previous month. You will receive the August box.

Value Breakdown:

Value Breakdown: This box costs $32.99 + free shipping, which means that each of the 4 items in the box has an average cost of $8.25.

The total suggested retail for the items is $54, which means the savings on this box is 39%!

The wooden tray is the largest I have seen in a subscription box. I have so many tiny dishes/trays it is good to see a larger one.

Anna: I think the bracelet is a roll on bracelet. Its small yet rolls on. I am sure it will not fit every wrist, yet you might want to try rolling it on.

The necklace is gorgeous

Very nice box – tobad its not still available, i would have ordered it. I am liking full spoilers before ordering boxes.
