Frank And Oak Style Plan July 2018 Review
When you first sign up for this subscription, you fill out a quick style profile that captures your sizing preferences and your sense of style. (Choose from Casual, Classic, and Creative). Then, you can pick whether you'd like a monthly or a bi-monthly plan and set your budget for each box (under $150 or $150+).
Before your box ships, you get an email inviting you to hop in and preview your order. The page that opens up has about 12 products total on the page, and the three products set to ship in my order are at the top of the page and marked with green check marks. The plan includes three items, but you can choose more than three if you'd like. The prices are all discounted for you, so it's a deal compared to just shopping the regular site.
Here's the invoice for the three pieces I ended up with, plus the return instructions. (If you didn't know before, Frank And Oak is a Canadian company, which explains all the French you'll see on their packaging and paperwork!)
Let's check out what I got!
Oversized Denim Jacket in Blue, Size Medium - Retail Value $89.50, Member Price $79.50
It's been years since I owned a jean jacket, and the last one had kind of a wonky fit that I didn't totally love. THIS jacket, on the other hand, fits like a dream! The oversized cut lays beautifully across my slightly wider shoulders and hips. The sleeves, as you can see, are likewise oversized, but they look great unbuttoned and cuffed just a bit. It's got a 90s vibe to it that feels on-trend. I know somewhat awkward silhouettes like this (oversized, not super tailored, not traditionally flattering) aren't everyone's favorite thing, but I'm loving this look.
It's also 100% cotton! The fabric is soft yet sturdy. It's just the thing for brisk summer evenings.
Organic Cotton Washed "Boy" T-Shirt in Light Purple, Size Medium - Retail Value $24.50, Member Price $21.50
I love the cut of this tee. The high crew neckline is sporty and classic, and the lightweight, lived-in feel of the 100% cotton is breezy and cool on a hot day. My favorite thing is the color, though. It's barely purple—just enough to make a casual jeans-and-tee outfit look a little more special and cute. I could see dressing this up with statement jewelry and tucking it into a voluminous high-waisted skirt, or wearing it with jeans like the ones I got this month. Speaking of which...
The Stevie High-Waisted Tapered Jean in Light Indigo, Size 30 - Retail Value $79.50, Member Price $74.50
The cut of these jeans is sooo awesome! It's been awhile since I've bought jeans that don't have a healthy amount of stretch to them, so I was a little worried wriggling these non-stretchy 100% cotton denim jeans up over my hips. But once they're all up and buttoned, they feel great. The cut is roomy around the hips, right where I need it. The waist nips in slightly so that you get that cool 90s high-waisted silhouette. The best part? The hem of jeans lands right at my ankle! I'm so used to having to hem jeans or roll them up. Love these so much!
Verdict: Wow, do I love the Frank And Oak Style Plan! I've been shocked by how much luck I've had in terms of sizing and fit, and I am LOVING the understated, chic aesthetic. I feel like I'm getting what I pay for, too, especially when it comes to the denim. A lot of mall-brand jeans I buy either don't fit well at first or stretch out and get all wonky pretty quickly. So far, Frank and Oak has delivered what might be my favorite jean silhouettes ever, plus everything I've gotten from them wears and washes beautifully. I also feel good supporting a company with an interest in sustainability that's reflected in their manufacturing and the timeless quality of their styles. If you haven't tried shopping at Frank and Oak, I totally recommend it! It's a little on the pricey side sometimes, but the versatility of the high-quality pieces mean you can wear these investment pieces for many seasons to come.
To Wrap Up:
Can I still get this box if I sign up today? No, each box is customized based on your style plan. Under the new $25 styling fee plan, boxes ship automatically on the 1st of the month, and you can log in 2 days before shipment to add or remove items or skip the month altogether. That said, you can still follow the product links above to shop these items for yourself from their site catalog!
Coupon - Now through 7/31, use this link to have your first styling fee waived (regularly $25) and save $15 off your first Frank And Oak Style Plan!
Value Breakdown: I paid the member's price of $175.50 for the three items I received this month, which would have cost me $193.50 at their regular retail prices. If I decide to return all three items, I will pay the $25 styling fee and will be refunded the remaining amount, but I can keep any one item at the discounted price and no styling fee will be charged.
