GlossyBox is a monthly beauty subscription box. They have the best packaging in the business, their products are usually a deluxe size or full size, and the value is usually good too.

This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

FYI: GlossyBox sends out multiple variations of the box during some months. So, there may be some variation between what I review and what you receive.

The Subscription Box: GLOSSYBOX

The Cost: $21 a month (save more with 6-month or annual subscription)

The Products: Deluxe and full-size beauty products.

Check out all of my GlossyBox reviews and the list of the best beauty and makeup subscription boxes!

Ships to: US and Canada

Each box comes with a fold-out card detailing the items included:

And here's a sneak peek at the August box design:

Now, on to the items!

John Masters Organics Citrus & Neroli Detangler - 2 oz Retail Value $6

(This item is in all boxes this month.)

John Masters Organics products have been popping up a lot in Glossyboxes lately, but I am 100% OK with that! The lines are ingredient-conscious, and the products smell SO good! This leave-in cream/detangler smells wonderful, and it left my hair softer and it air-dried straighter, too.

John Masters Organics Hair Spray - 2 oz Retail Value $10

(This item is in all boxes this month.)

This organic hairspray smelled wonderful, but it didn't compare to traditional hairsprays for me. (It provided some hold, but also made my hair look and feel a little crunchy.)

Kueshi Double Effect Makeup Remover - 100 ml FULL SIZE! Retail Value Listed $14

(This item is in all boxes this month.)

This is a gentle makeup remover that works well even on waterproof makeup, and it had the added benefit of leaving my skin feeling al little more hydrated!

NCLA So Rich Cuticle Oil in Mermaid Tears - FULL SIZE! REtail Value $18

Don’t worry! These are “mermaid tears of joy, not sorrow.” 🙂 This vitamin-e infused oil is made with sunflower seed oil and smells like honeysuckle. It’s the best smelling cuticle oil I’ve come across! (I previously sampled this thanks to the June 2017 POPSUGAR Must Have Box.)

AFFECT Matte Effect Transparent Loose Rice Powder - FULL SIZE! Retail Value $12

This is a variant item. Not all subscribers will receive this. (See spoilers for other options.)

This is a mattifying, translucent setting powder. It's super fine and did a good job of getting rid of shine, too.

And since the ingredients aren't listed on the package, here they are if you are looking:

Dimethylimidazolidinone Rice Starch, Mica, Pearl Powder, Parfum ( Benzyl Salicylate, Hexyl Cinnamal, Lilial, Lyral, Alpha-isomethyl ionone)

It’s Skin USA Macaron Mini Lip Balm - Retail Value Listed $5.99

(This may be a variant item. And flavors will vary.)

Cute packaging, a tropical pineapple flavor, and lots of moisture + shine? I'm a fan!

Verdict: This box has a value of about $65.99. That's a decent value for the $21 cost, but this box wasn't much of a wow for me. I'll use everything, but at this price point (comparable to Boxycharm), I'm expecting a hero item with a good retail value.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes!

Remember the good old days when glossybox would offer special after special after special of three months for $10 each? Sigh…

I LOVE that lip balm – I got it in an Ipsy bag a while back and it’s so nice to use every morning as a part of my getting ready routine.

GlossyBox has always been a box that I’ve been interested in but I worry about the customer service. I feel like I read a lot of negative things about it on here.

Its skin products are my favorites! Their cookies and cream hand cream is literally the best I have ever used!

Nope the only thing I’d want would be the detangler. I use those the most out of all the hair care. My daughter is five hair down to her bum and so tender-headed! An uninteresting box

Seems odd that there was not a shampoo to go with the other hair items. It’s like it was a leftover box. Not as good as prior months.
