Gwynnie Bee July 2018 Review
This review is of the 3 items at a time subscription from 6/21 through 7/20.
HUTCH - Tropical Palm Print True Wrap Dress
This dress was so fun for summer! It was a little long in the back, but I still wore it out for drinks with some heels one day. It's a crisp cotton/poly blend and fully lined. This is not something I would ever have bought for myself, but it was fun to wear for a day as something different.
ESHAKTI - Short Sleeve Wrap Dress In Constellation Print
First of all, I love the print on this dress, the constellations are beautiful! I also always love a good, flattering wrap dress. This was a little long for my taste, it looks like a maxi dress, but I think that's because of the angle of the picture. It was kind of that awkward length between midi and maxi - we used to call it "tea length" back in the day. In any case, I did not end up wearing it out, not because of the length, but really just because I didn't have anywhere formal enough to wear it! It's got an outer sheer layer, and it's beautiful, but it's pretty fancy!
ESHAKTI - Short Sleeve Black Sea Print True Wrap Dress
This was quite a month for wrap dresses! I don't know why, but I feel like it's pretty often that I get similar pieces at once from Gwynnie Bee, and I do wish they would pay attention to that a bit more. This time it was two eShakti wrap dresses at once. This dress, however, was a much better length and did not have the fancy sheer overlay, so I wore this out happily one day. It fit well and made me feel cute. I really love the fish print on this one and the colors, too.
INC INTERNATIONAL CONCEPTS - V-Neck Kimono Dress In Floral Stripe Combo
When I pulled this spandex/synthetic blend dress out of the box, I did not think I would like it much, but I actually think it looks pretty flattering on me. I like the handkerchief hem a lot, and while the print is kind of big, I don't think it was too overwhelming. I wore this one to church and got a couple of nice compliments on it!
LUCKY BRAND - Three-Quarter Sleeve Mixed Print Peasant Top
I usually do not wear long sleeves at any point between early May and the end of September due to the excessive heat and humidity here in Atlanta, but I had to make an exception for this cute top! I love almost everything from Lucky Brand, and this lightweight cotton top was no exception! The fabric was obviously light and breathable and the cut of the top was billowy, so it did not feel too hot at all. I also love the fun boho print on this. I usually prefer darker colors, but this one worked for some reason. I loved it!
TOLANI - Sleeveless True Wrap Blue Print Annette Dress
It's another wrap dress! I don't really know how flattering this cotton dress is, but I love the scarf print! I actually wore this to my husband's birthday party and felt really comfortable and confident in it.
GILLI - Scoop Neck Three Quarter Sleeve Black Top
Surprise, haircut! So, you'll notice that this is described as a scoop neck top, but it is clearly a surplice top. It looks much different from the picture on the Gwynnie Bee site. So, long story short, I think they sent me the wrong top. No matter, I think I actually liked this top better than the one I closeted! It's a pretty basic lightweight synthetic black top, but it was cute and comfortable.
LONDON TIMES - Sleeveless V-Neck Paisley Print Dress
This poly/spandex dress was a bit of a disappointment, to be honest. It was well made and fit okay, but the print on the dress on the model looked really cute, and it is not my cup of tea in real life. I didn't end up wearing it because of the print. However, it's just a matter of taste - and with Gwynnie Bee, you just send it back and get something else! It happens sometimes!
VINCE CAMUTO - Sleeveless Polka-Dot Dress
This dress is an adorable one for office wear! It's a fully lined polyester, and I just love the swing cut and the single pleat in the front. Plus the tiny white dots are super cute! It's not something I would ever buy, but it was fun to wear for a day.
The Verdict: I love Gwynnie Bee! I turned my pieces around pretty quickly this month, so I got to try nine pieces! Plus, I really liked almost all of them! I was a little overwhelmed by all the wrap dresses, but most of them worked well. I also got a nice surprise with how comfortable the Lucky Brand blouse was! This was a good month.
