Kawaii Box July 2018 Review
This box always includes a little booklet detailing the items and also reveals the theme for the month. This booklet is designed differently than in months past – it looks really nice! This month’s box theme is “Summer Festival,” which is very similar to last month’s “Kawaii Summer” theme. I love everything about summer, so let’s see what’s inside, shall we?
Sanrio Characters Washi Tape
I’ve really come to love washi tape lately, and it’s so easy when it’s this cute! This is the first of three (squee!) Gudetama items I received this month, and I love that they’ll all match. This washi tape can be used in a lot of different ways; to jazz up wrapping paper, to augment a thank-you card, or even to label leftovers in the fridge!
Sweet Donut Hair Ties
I love anything that’s food-shaped, and these amazing hair ties are just so cute! I love the little pink donuts, and the doubled design reminds me so much of hair accessories from childhood. Sadly, my hair is extremely curly and thick, so these would only get stuck in my tresses, but I’ll have no trouble gifting them to a friend!
DIY Whipped Cream Cupcake Kit
Since I can’t read Japanese (even though I wish I could!), I was a tiny bit baffled when looking at this package at first. The tiny fruit decorations looked a little like nail decorations, and the small frosting packet looked so real. However, I realized that this kit is intended to make toy cupcakes, and the components are clay! SO ADORABLE. I want to try and make matching cupcakes for an adorable set of cupcake necklaces! This might be my new favorite DIY kit to date.
Flamingo Multicolor Pen
I adored pens like this when I was younger, so I pretty much squealed upon finding it in the box! I loved the ones that had this many color options, and I was impressed with how well each one writes.
Mochi Squeeze Toy Charm
When I get together with some of my best friends, usually two things are a given: we always paint our nails, and we always eat mochi! Our favorite variety is the matcha-ice cream kind, but I can’t help but think that my buds will appreciate this incredibly realistic mochi squishy as much as I do! The rubbery texture is incredibly unique, but I think it will be happily squished in the coming months.
Kawaii Unicorn Nail Stickers
My love for unicorns should be well-documented by now, but I don’t know if I’ve mentioned how much I love doing my nails! I decided to paint my nails a uni-friendly colors and see how these stickers held up. The adhesive had a nice grip to it and stuck to my nails nicely - no danger of it falling off, but I recommend a strong coat of top coat to seal it in and keep the design as pristine as possible!
Syringe Highlighter Pen
I can safely say I’ve never had a highlighter in this shape before! This is nice and lightweight, in addition to being so eye-catching. Speaking of eye-catching, check out that day-glo yellow! I have a few highlighters in my desk drawer, but this one is by far the brightest.
Gudetama Stickers
I love Gudetama’s general attitude toward relaxation, and these stickers really embody the overall chill vibes. I see a little bit of snuggle and a little bit of struggle in these images, and I can’t help it - I strongly relate on both counts.
Kabaya Watermelon Gummies
I’m not the biggest watermelon fan, but as soon as I opened this bag, I really enjoyed the smell of these, so I figured I’d give them a try! These were super-sweet, for sure, and even though the flavor was a tiny bit artificial, they were surprisingly pretty good. There’s something about watermelon that just screams summer, no?
Sanrio Pyoconoru Hanging Plush
This plush is supposed to be really good for ledges; like monitors, tables, etc - and I’m totally on-board with repping some more Gudetama at my workspace! This is slightly weighted and super-soft, and really satisfying to squeeze.
Verdict: Another great summer month of Kawaii Box! I can’t stop marveling over the DIY cupcake kit, I really enjoyed all the Gudetama goodness, and the multicolored pen really brought me back to childhood. Those unicorn nail stickers will be featured in the rest of my summer manicures, and I’m really going to enjoy squeezing the mochi charm.
