Potion Handmade Face Forward Mask, 0.5 oz. - Retail Value $18.00

I'm so used to getting masks in powder form (that require water to be added to make them into a real mask) that getting a moistened mask was kind of exciting. So convenient, haha! The mask includes jojoba and argan oils that left my skin feeling nourished, plus there's a very low-key grittiness to it that exfoliates when it comes time to rinse off. The only odd part to me is that it smells like a more aromatic version of... wait for it... Italian dressing? There's apple cider vinegar in the mix, hence the dressing smell. But it's worth it for this relaxing mask. It left my skin feeling nice and clean.

Rustic Maka Hydrate Mango Lip Balm, 0.15 oz. - Retail Value $3.50

To be honest, I'm usually pretty underwhelmed about getting a lip balm in boxes. It's just such a simple product, and most of the ones I get are just... fine. Not awesome, but not terrible. THIS lip balm, on the other hand, is kind of AMAZING. It's made from castor seed oil, candelilla wax, and vitamin E which is so buttery soft and smooth to apply. It sat beautifully on my lips, keeping them happy and soft for over an hour.

kloverbox bug spray

Shine Skin Care Bug Repellant, 4 oz. - Retail Value $16.00

I've been getting SO MUCH natural bug spray in subscription boxes lately. I'm honestly really happy about it—I have a big trip to the mountains coming up at the end of the year, and I'm eager to stock up on deet-free alternatives that'll keep the pests away as I hike around. This formula has lavender, lemongrass, citronella, geranium, and peppermint essential oils in it, but the aroma is mostly strong citrus. I like that this plant-based formula is light and clean on my skin. It's almost refreshing!

Beija Flor Naturals Sweet Rose Face + Body Scrub, 4 oz. - Retail Value $20.00

This sugar scrub has sweet almond oil, grape seed oil, coconut oil, and other skin-nourishing ingredients in it. Functionally, it's very similar to a lot of other sugar scrubs I've tried, exfoliating my skin but also leaving it feeling plump and cushy thanks to all of the oils. The fragrance is my favorite part, though. It's rosy, but not overwhelmingly so. The rose scent is almost fruity. It's nice to have lingering around on my skin—it'd make me feel even fancier before a big event or a date.

Verdict: This month's box was fun and summery. I like getting pampering items in boxes like these, but the practical bug spray was nice, too. I also can't believe how excited I am about the lip balm I got! Everything was nourishing and smelled beautiful, too.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. Sign up here to ensure you get the upcoming box!

Value Breakdown: I estimate that I received $57.50 worth of product inside this $25.00 box, including free shipping. Proportionally, this is what you're paying for each item via the box:

  • Face mask - $7.83
  • Lip balm - $1.52
  • Bug repellant - $6.96
  • Scrub - $8.70

YES!! I think mine went bad. It smelled extremely unpleasant.

Ugh, this was supposed to be a reply to Andi’s question.

Does your facial mask smell really sour? I know the smell is partly related to the ACV, but mine almost smells like it has gone bad. Mine also has some black flecks/streaks in it.

I sent a query to the Kloverbox team, and Marie said she wasn’t sure if my mask went bad, but she’s sending out another one regardless. What great service! I’m anxious to see how the new one smells in comparison.

Marie from Kloverbox has been trying to get a replacement mask from the company, as she didn’t have any extras from the monthly boxes. Potion Handmade indicated that they are switching to a powdered formula, so none are available now. They assured her that the ones we received smell like they do because of how the bulk order was prepared, and the mask is safe to use. I’m going to give it a go, assuming the apple cider vinegar is the main culprit for the offpitting smell.

It’s awesome to hear that their customer service folks took care of that issue ASAP! Mine definitely smells ACV-ish, but that’s all. I’ve got some black flecks, too, but I think that’s just part of the grit of the mask. I didn’t experience any adverse effects from using it, so hopefully it’s just kind of a funky smelling formula! Definitely let us know what you think of the replacement, though. Thanks for sharing your experience, Andi!
